lucky you, just tried and CS transferred me to retentions wherein they said cannot offer to you. I have been with O2 for almost 3 years but via carphone warehouse. O2 retentions asked me to move over to O2 directly which I did yesterday. Now retentions r saying cannot offer as I am new customer. Very mixed CS so far for me.

Thanks for the Heads-up! ;)

Rung them this morning on 202. CS denied any knowledge of this package. So I requested to be transferred to get my PAC code. Very nic chap in retentions enquired why I wanted to leave. When I told him, he laughed and said that he could transfer me within 24hrs. I asked him to confirm the package - 600 mins, 1200 sms, free wi-fi and web, visual voice mail. Everything that has been mentioned here.

So, mixed CS from o2. Initial contact rubbish, very good when leaving.

So I've just got to wait to see if the transfer is as painless!

I am on the £45 o2 contract (bought in an o2 store) which runs out 1st feb, which means I can upgrade from 1st Jan. I'd like the 3GS, but am also worried about being tied into a long contract when the next iPhone is released.

Given that I bought from a store rather than online, can I still jump onto this Simplicity tariff? I could handle keeping my existing 3G phone for 6/7 months on this deal and then taking out a 'full' contract when the next gen phone becomes available - but everyone seems to be dealing with O2's online/phone division and/or having come from a previous Simplicity deal

Clarification would be appreciated

Thanks

Had two very different conversations with O2 regarding upgrading to this contract. First call I was told they may not be able to offer it to me and put me through to retentions, who basically said about the carphone warehouse issue.

The second call was a lot more successful and i was upgraded within 5 minutes of phoning them without the hassle of the retentions department.

It seems, as usual, you just need that bit of luck to get through to the right person.

You will have no problems (excluding usual customer service incompetence) transferring to iPhone Simplicity. I bought my 3G from my local Apple Store and had no issues moving over.

Ring the iPhone Customer Services on 2302 and if you are unfortunate enough to get someone who still doesn't know about the special iPhone plans ask to be transferred to retentions who will know what to do.

Easiest process in the world was that! Call 202, press 2, press 2 again, get straight through to chap called Alex. Ask him if I can go on the iPhone simplicity tariff. He says 'no problem.' Everything as is with iphone except 1200 texts now, and because I did a deal with a client some time ago who works for O2, my friends and family discount ports over so I am now only paying £14 per month! And.... the change comes into force immediately so I will be getting a £15 refund on Jans bill.

I have just got off the phone from o2 Staff Accounts and they said they cannot transfer the discount over to the £20 iPhone Simplicity Tariff? I think I will have to give them another go. I did give retentions a call about a week ago and they said the same thing.

OK, after nothing happening within 48 hrs as promised, I guessed that the Christmas and New Year holidays might be causing a delay. So, I waited till yesterday (Jan 4th) to call CS again. I was told that the switch-over was in the system, but to take place at my next billing date. When I told him that I was told 24/48 hrs, he apologised and adjusted the switch to midnight last night.

Woke up this morning and checked my o2 app and I've been switched!! :D

Hi guys. I understand there's two deals, can someone correct me if I'm wrong? The first is £20 and this is for 600 mins and 1200 texts (with all the data/Internet being unlimited) and the second is £30 for 1200 mins and 2400 texts (again with unlimited data/Internet). Does anyone know if it's possible to get the £20 deal with unlimited texts, say as a bolt on? I get through an awful amount of messages!!

Thanks.

O2 offer a 500 text bolt-on for £7.50 with some Simplicity tariffs and unlimited texts as a free bolt-on with others. The iPhone tariffs are a special deal so you are best phoning them to see what options are on offer.

My iPhone contract ends later this month. I had e-mailed cust services, who sent me a link to an upgrade page. That didn't mention the iPhone Simplicity tariffs though so I called them today and they agreed to the switch straight away. Said it would be effective w/in 48 hrs.

I tried going direct to retentions (2302 then options 2, 2, 1, 4) but was on hold for 15 mins before I gave up. Tried same number with options 2, 2, 1, 2 and got thorugh immediately. I guess retentions are busy ...

Does anyone have clarity about whether CPW customers can transfer into O2 straight onto the Simplicity tariffs? I have a friend in that position.

I have actually found O2's cust services to be pretty good. Apart from the 15+ mins wait for retentions today, they generally pick up quickly.

Cheers.

hi, hope someone can help.

my 18 month 3g iphone contract is up for renewel on 5th feb. I would like to upgrade to the 3gs, i am presently on the £35 monthly contract. would i be offered the simplicity 20 offer even though i want a new phone upgrade, or would i be stuck with a new £35 a month contract

also, , when i get my new 3gs, i would like to give my old 3g to my dad, he is on 02 text and web sim at the moment, could he still use this in the iphone, or would he need to change to an iphone sim? he would also want to keep his number as its on his buisness cards.

sorry to go on, but i dont know the best way to go, for both the iphones.

thanks

Mine contract ends on the 11th Feb....Ive not contacted O2 yet. So best bet is phone O2 202 from your iPhone? Is that free?

Ask to speak to retentions

Ask to be put on the new iPhone £20 deal? With VVmail etc.

Couple of Q's, does your number stay the same? Does the PAYG deal start straight after your contract ends? What about insurance? Iam currently paying 7.50 per month.

Appreciate any advise :)

Is this offer still available?

Back from holiday now and want to move onto this, but aware that nearly a month has passed since anyone posted about the deal on this thread so worth double-checking its still something I'm likely to get if I call up...

There's a bit more about it on the O2 forums.

The new tariff is called the "O2 Simplicity 20 for iPhone" and there's also a second tariff at £30 for 1200 minutes and 2400 texts, both on a 30 day rolling contract with unlimited internet, free cloud/openzone wifi and visual voicemail included.
Wow, you Europeans have it great. I pay much more than that as a Canadian, only a mandatory 3 year contract and get only 1GB of data, 100 minutes and 1,000 texts. AHH.

O2 Simplicity 20

Just "upgraded" today to the £20 simplicity 20 no problem just call 202 then 2 and 2. Took all of 2 minutes now saving £10 a month plus loads more minutes and texts - confirming email came within a minute as well.

O2 Simplicity 15 + Web Bolt On 300 mins 600 texts

However I was disappointed to not have Visual Voicemail

Problem solved, I am using HulloMail (app store) which does the same, do you know this app?

CAll o2 customer service and explain that you're on an iphone and they will change you to o2 simplicity for iphone contract which includes visual voicemail. This is all at no extra cost

The cheapest iPhone Simplicity tariff is £20 per month, they are only paying £15 for O2 Simplicity 15.

I don't want to have Simplicity 20, I am paying £22.5 a month with unlimited web, unlimited O2 to O2 calls, 300 mins and 600 texts, I don't need more.

I don't want to pay £5 more by months to get more mins and visual voicemail, I have it for free using HulloMail app :)

Great thread!

Had no idea about this, contract expires this month, called O2 retentions, EXCELLENT staff for a change (girl called Danielle) and she put me onto iPhone Simplicity 20 no trouble at all.

£15 per month better off now.

Thanks very much to the OP!

But you would be paying *less* if you switched. With the £15 Simplicity tariff you have to pay an additional £7.50 to get unlimited web, but with the £20 Simplicity tariff it is included in the price. With the £20 Simplicity for iPhone tariff you get free wifi as well (and "proper" Visual Voicemail). Ok so you wouldn't have unlimited O2-O2 calls (as I believe that is what is included as standard with the £15 Simplicity tariff), but what is worth more? Free O2-O2 calls or an extra 300 minutes and £2.50 a month? If you make a lot of use of your O2-O2 calls then sure, but do you? If it's less than 300 minutes a month then you would be better off with £20 Simplicity for iPhone if for no other reason than it's £2.50 a month cheaper.

ta

op - thanks for the info.

my 3g o2 18m contract runs out this weekend. i get a 30% discount through work so am currently only paying £24.something on the £35 p/m contract.

i love how the phone works but it does feel a bit dated and now every chav has one it's lost its' appeal.

i'm not convinced that the 3gs is the next phone for me so i'm more than happy to go onto the 30-day rolling simplicity plan and save a further £4.something p/m until the 4g is announced. i toyed with going for a palm pre but the plus looks to be much improved but also isn't out yet.

i called staff discounts yesterday and they confirmed this deal i'm on ended in december and only o2 staff get a decent discount anymore. best they could offer me is £75 credit to go onto the 'usual' £35p/m 18m contract and stump up £189 for the 3gs 16gb.

it might only be a small saving each month but i figure it's better in my pocket.

Likewise, I'm not buying the 3gs new. It doesn't offer enough for me. My jb 2g does well enough for me, tho it lags sometimes (even with winterboard turned off).

Will wait for the 4g (or whatever Apple calls it, probably the 3gs II), and if it doesn't thrill me, then will get a second hand 3gs - there should be plenty on the market then at cheap prices from people upgrading to the '3gs II'

I truly agree with you but I really want my O2-to-O2 unlimited.

All my friends are on O2 and 90% of my calls are to O2 phones so this is the best deal for me. Maybe one day I will switch to Simplicity 20.

Regarding visual voicemail, the iPhone visual voicemail standard is fine but thanks to HulloMail I can also send short voice messages to any of my contacts' email address or directly to their phone if they use HulloMail.

Give it a try, you can still go back to O2 visual voicemail afterward through a simple phone call.

Anyway, I really like Simplicity, its a good bargain without any length contract as I plan to leave the country soon!
