So what does this mean, exactly?

Is this just a data plan? Looks really expensive.

I don't care. I'll just stick with good old phone calls and SMS. I don't think I think I can live without data.

Damn, I was hoping to look 'cool' when I traveled there in May. :)

Shouldn't be hard outside of dublin... Damn culchies :D

Well its good theres another country with iPhone coming, but hey what ridiculous prices. I already start to get nervous if I think about it what the prices in The Netherlands are going to be:eek:man even unlocking the phone and then use make an own plan with the SAME provider would be more cheap:eek:

Seems to me that they are encouraging people to Unlock the iPhone.

Seems to me that they are encouraging people to Unlock the iPhone.

Well I have my iPhone in Ireland, I'm on Vodafone PayAsYouGo and for €20 credit I get at the moment unlimited phone calls and texts to all other vodafone customers (handy for me as most of the peeps I call are on vodafone) and then I can use the remainder of that €20 on general data and misc calls.

+ They give you 20% extra credit topping up online so €20 = €24

Just checking email when I'm away from the desk, or weather etc, I find the credit more than covers me.

So I have a fully functioning iPhone as it stands in Ireland and I'm only spending €20, as opposed to €45 + etc...

Canada?

Like the other Canadians who already posted, I'm still awaiting the arrival of the iPhone in Canada.

I dunno what Rogers has against data plans, if O2/Telus/Orange can do it, why can't they?

No kidding. Much as I hate ATT, my 30/month (on a family plan) for the basic US plan looks like a steal in comparison...

Well, you need to remember that in USA you pay for both incoming and outgoing calls, whereas in Europe you only pay for outgoing calls.

EDIT: too slow....

If they won't give competetive pricing I WILL definatly unlock it. Makes it easier too, so I can put other sims in later. This is ridiculous. Even outside the fact that we only pay for outgoing calls and not for incoming (what a stupid idea is that pay for being called?), and taxes included. But still, these prices are way to high, and not even unlimited data! GRRR.

Seems to me that they are encouraging people to Unlock the iPhone.

Why in the name of god would they launch this with a 1Gb data limit when every other iPhone tariff has unlimited?

EDIT: didn't see the German tariffs. Geez, we're better off in the UK than I thought....

1gb!

o2 ireland has only provided a 1gb data limit and no sign of free wifi hotspots like they offered in the uk. 1gb, come on where is the unlimited data, isn't that one of apple's goals when picking carriers.

also monthly tariffs are high, €45 ($68), €60 ($90) and €100 ($150) now that's expensive especially since all tariffs have 1gb data limit.

WORST.

TARIFFS.

EVER.

As a citizen of the UK, I am 100% used to getting my ******* gaped a mile wide by the prices and taxes of this fair land. However, the UK iPhone tariffs now look like an unmissable bargain compared to Ireland's horrendous deal.

If they thought the iPhone is selling poorly in the UK....

It's scary to think about the iPhone in Spain now that Telefonica O2 has announced such a joke of Tariff in Ireland.

I'm surprised anyone in Ireland even uses a cell phone then. Suncom has offered unlimited voice and texting in a 'local' area for $79 for a long time here in the states. ATT, Verizon, and T-Mobile just added unlimited voice from anywhere to anywhere for $99/month. 100 minutes of talk time wouldn't even get me through 1 day lol.

Actually, that is incorrect my friend. At least with AT&T, I called them and asked about it. If you read the fine print it says "No domestic roaming charges." That means that if you go out of your state, you're paying roaming charges with that $99/mo. plan of yours. Not only that, you can't have the $99/mo. plans as family plans, which kinda sucks. So if you have 2 lines on a "family plan" with these plans, it turns out to be $198/mo. Again, that's how it is with AT&T, I'm confident about it because I asked them about it. I am not, however, confident about Verizon and T-Mobile, but I can bet that it's pretty similar.

Great for Ireland. When is the iPhone coming to Canada:confused:

I don't think canada will get the iphone as long as it is sold in a locked version.

SJ likes seeing canadian's suffer, watching us beg and beg for his dammed phones.

Nope. Its just not going to happen.

No really pmoeser, Apple's European HQ is in Ireland as is Microsoft's, Google's, E-Bay, IBM, Symantec, Dell, HP etc etc

I'm running unlocked 1.1.3 on Vodafone pay monthly and I ain't changing to 02. NO WAY.

Vodafone has far better coverage and my monthly bill with Data plan is circa 40 Euro. My work phone is 02 and the coverage is terrible in some places and I have been with Vodafone for about 13 years (they Bought Eircell) and the customer service has always been excellent.

Well I am more than happy with my iPhone here in Spain using Vodafone ES. If Telefonica are going to help Apple bring the iPhone to Spain then god help us! I am paying Telefonica 40 Euros/Month ($60) for 1MB broadband. Believe me there are no cheaper options.

Eff that. I don't want the iPhone in Australia. This country always seems so far behind in terms of mobile services. I thought Canada was bad because it seemed behind the US in pricing. Now that I've travelled a lot, I see how good Canada's pricing was (depends on which provider), and how expensive other countries can be. Australia isn't nearly the best, and I can't imagine many people paying $100 AUD per month, or anything close to that unless they get unlimited data (which they probably won't give you).
