Apple phone rep just told me there is nothing he can do.. No expedited shipping, no free case, yada yada, he did tell me that if I want to go to apple store on 9/19 i can do it and they can cancel the order and purchase one in store with NO ISSUES. Said that they can do it for me "with a smile". I asked about the upgrade eligibility and said that it will reset immediately upon cancellation and a store rep will take care of all that....
Funny thing he kept putting me on hold to see what "he can do for me". Obviously it was nothing other then him putting me on hold for 2-3 mins just to tell me there is "nothing he can do for me"

got off the phone with apple rep. no speeding up shipping but he did give me two cases($100 worth in total!) i m happy enough... he was also pretty nice
an hour later when i called in apple for the same reason for my friend,the other rep just told me that apple is not giving free stuff for no reasons...
so yea, i ended up getting free cases from apple, and now i m perfectly fine with waiting my phones to arrive at oct. 1..

Just waiting is the sucky part. I have had a new iPhone on every launch day but this one. I guess though I am lucky to have the 7 - 10 days. I shouldn't complain, but man I wanna start using it already lol. Only thing new on my end is I have a new $4.98 charge on my checking account from Apple. But I am still just processing.
lol id call to see if i could get a free case but im already intent on buying an otterbox defender so ill pass.
My case just showed up on UPS, got so excited for a second. Gets here Thursday, has to be case since its .6 pounds.
Might as well go for it when you get a chance. Reselling it is never a bad option
.I think it's ashamed that individuals calling Apple with the same questions/requests get different responses/answers. The Apple rep said to me that she didn't know what I was talking about and they had absolutely no ability to change shipping. In addition, IF free cases were offered it must be because of an individuals order circumstances.
Just called and got a leather case for my 6+ shipping Oct 14th
I think its a fair to assume each rep has a certain amount of discretionary freebies at their disposal to please certain customers. However I am sure this is not an unlimited supply. So if you get a nice rep you get lucky. I did.
Perhaps they also look at how many devices you have registered under your apple ID. I personally have registered two iPhone 5s, macbook pro, iPod classic, iPad mini, and just bought an iPhone 6+.
A free case (which is probably worth $4 at cost) is nothing given all that I have invested in apple devices.

Conflicting from what I've been hearing and reading. Yeah, I thought if my order was still "Processing" by Friday morning, then I'd try and hit the Apple store..see if I get lucky and grab a 6+..cancel the order as soon as I have the phone in my hand.
The order will be cancelled, HOWEVER the carrier (ATT, Verizon, etc) may not cancel for another day or up to 3 days. Apple can't sell you the phone without the "eligible upgrade" since it will probably read "not eligible" through the carrier. Only option would be to buy an unlocked - if they even offer that? I don't know if calling ATT/Verizon/TMobile can click and switch and voila..you're eligible again. They should, you think they'd be able to. Whole other pain in the a** entity.
If that is in fact the case, I won't even bother hunting the phone down on Friday..I'll just wait it out.

What is the last shipment out of China that could get here for Friday? Wednesday? Thursday at the latest? So shouldn't we see movement right around then as we are the second batch?
Said this before but it's a quite a few pages back now..
Last year my space gray 5S came in and after seeing it in person I really decided I wanted the gold, so I took it to the Apple store and miraculously they had one.
Anyway when I returned the space gray in the store I did *639# (AT&T eligibility check) on my phone to check upgrade eligibility and it had automatically reset then and there standing in front of the rep. I walked out with a gold 5S no trouble.
Prior to this I had discussed with an Apple phone rep about my decision to change and I was told the same you all have said- that it could be 3 days. But mine was instant. Just wanted to share that with you guys. I don't know if I was lucky or if things have changed in a year but in my opinion if you look there are people being quoted late November in some cases. We're the 2nd batch going out and are secured in line, getting our phones likely the last week of September. That's not a long time at all, and none of this waiting will even matter after that. Better safe than sorry really applies well here.

I hope you're right about the last week of September instead of first week of October. Just a week a part but I'd much rather get it a week earlier lol

Have the same, assuming its my case, but has 2 tracking numbers. .60 pounds though, so too light for phone I assume.
Sounds like a case for sure. My girlfriend's shipment is 1.7 lbs; I'm pretty sure that's her 6.

I'm hoping I have the same luck. Not waiting for this Oct 1-6. If it doesn't bump up to ~ Sept. 20-24 by Thursday I'm camping.
Definitely the case. I have the same thing, and the tracking numbers match with the case.
