just got off the phone with apple. tried to get expedited shipping but was unable to, i did however get some beats in ear headphones. the guy i spoke to was pretty cool and understanding, and very nice as well :D

I called and he basically just told me it was already the fastest shipping available and to check my credit card cause once the card gets charged my order is close to shipping. Don't know how everyone is getting free crap.
 
Did you get the headphones for free like people are getting cases? Because if you did, I'll be spending my night calling Apple until I get some. Lol.

i offered to pay for expedited shipping in hopes of getting it for free, but he said it couldn't be done. we chatted about the 128gb and i told him i had lots of music and that's when he offered the beats. pretty cool of him

Looks like you lucked out. I would have rather had Beats than expedited shipping.

I called Monday morning. I am in the group of people who had a reservation that didn't hold. Despite getting that reservation within about an hour of sales starting, I'm in the Oct. 1 through 6 bucket.

I called and just asked what happened. The CSR was very nice and said that my reservation did not carry through to my final order (before Noon Eastern, on Friday). She then put me on hold and came back to say that she had authority to send me an AppleTV.

The rep I talked to offered me pretty much any accessory I wanted. I said in an earlier post that he first offered me a $120 power case. But it all depends on the rep you get. They could offer you nothing to a $150 item for free.

What the heck, Did they run out of cases? If people are getting Beats earphones and Apple TVs....well....excuse me, I have to make a phone call now..lol
 
Using 's to denote plurals for initials, capital letters and numbers is accepted practice. Granted, whether you should do it or not varies greatly depending on who you ask. :rolleyes:

By whose standards? Certainly not in any formal writing situation, which while I grant you this is not I was obviously just being playful anyway.

Agreed. Writing guides often say that you may use apostrophes in cases like you mentioned for clarity.

No, it is not. The New York Times as well as the Chicago Manual of Style call "TV's" an inappropriate use use apostrophes.

Use apostrophes for plurals of abbreviations that have capital letters and periods: M.D.’s, C.P.A.’s. Also use apostrophes for plurals formed from single letters: He received A’s and B’s on his report card. Mind your p’s and q’s.

But do not use apostrophes for plurals of abbreviations without periods, or for plurals formed from figures: TVs, PCs, DVDs; 1990s, 747s, size 7s.

WTH now Apple TVs are involved in the mix??!! Do you have proof lol? That was a dramatic delivery at the end of that paragraph I hope you're not just having a giggle m8.

I was too lazy for a case but dammit I might have to call now.

I think the best reason to get goodies is saying you had a 9/19 estimate at checkout and then Oct 1 in email. That is a legit thing to them.

Also the key is to tell a long story and talk for awhile and give your whole life story in a positive but victimized way. Don't just get to it. Let it sink in, give them a reason to feel good about helping you. Humanize your case.

Ha! Two things. First, yes, I swear it's true. Second, I think I did tell a long story to the CSR. I told her that I got up just before sale time at 3:00 am, couldn't get the Apple Store App to show an available phone....finally got "reservation"... all the way through to finishing the order as soon as I received the second email and then being put in the Oct. 1 to 6 bucket. My sense is that she was able to confirm everything that I said.

I really just wanted to know what happened.
 
I dunt think anyone is trying to strong-arm Apple. One person called to ask about expedited shipping, expressed frustration with the preorder fiasco, and was offered a free case as compensation. From what I've read here, not a single person was an angry caller or demanded recompense - only a couple actually ASKED for anything. Apple seems to be doing this because they know they're partly at fault for things that went wrong on Friday.

I applaud Apple for giving anything away for free and keep their customers happy.
