Well Oct 1-6ers, I bid you farewell...
Thanks for making this entertaining.
My phone is still in California and when I read California people have phones sent to Kentucky, and people like me (Florida) are sent to California, and nobody got their shipments, it just raises my blood pressure. Apple deserves better. I have no issue with the delays in Asia. That is outside UPS and Apple's sphere of influence. I can't stand the lack of information available to customers. If a customer service rep knows a shipment is delayed, and why, then why not tell a customer instead of making them call. How hard can it be? The package is clearly already tagged as being delayed somewhere. I wrote this earlier so I digress...
So I have told UPS I will pick up my phone when it arrives at the station, assumedly tomorrow morning, as UPS "couldn't" note that it is arriving past the expected delivery day/time and so a early am delivery couldn't be assured. Why they can note that it will be picked up, but not note that it is a now-overdue delivery and needs a priority delivery, again, I don't pretend to understand but it seems like an embarrassing oversight for a shipping company to not have addressed. Surely the situation, and request to deliver with the "by 10:30am" stuff has come up before, and seems like a reasonable request.
I stayed home today because a UPS rep assured me that the package, despite being in California at 10pm last night, would be delivered today. I called at 8:15am this morning to confirm before I decided. "Yes, it will get to you today," I was told. At noon the California scan was still the last one. I called again. "Oh, no, you won't get it today." No apology, even after I explained I took the day off to wait for it. "Don't you have an elderly neighbor or someone with kids nearby who can sign for it on your behalf?" No, no I don't. Sorry my neighborhood isn't arranged in a convenient way for UPS shipping policies. Nice lady. No apologies, no offer to help, no explanation available. I hope they modernize and get computer technology soon, something that will allow them to manage a large database with relative ease.
I may peek back in to see what memes people post. Those are usually worth a smile. Good luck to everyone with the rest of the process and enjoy the experience of opening that box, whenever it arrives, and feeling the warm glow of seeing that shiny piece of glass inside and knowing you have a new sidekick (until the 6S or 7 is released).
