G5 ipod ??

That would be one very expensive, but effective, handwarmer.

I see the macman beat me to this one- but Hilarious!

Here's a "hope for"-

*2nd to final PPC update- powerbooks bumped big and HD-ified (based on post about brother in a import/export spot)
*iPod AV - It'd be a while before I got one- but it sounds great! (based on poster with friend in factory / Asia )
*Airport Express AV - awesome idea. (based on pure rumour, speculation, and a logical friend for iPod AV )
*imac update - new imac design and guts with one terrabyte hd, bulletproof screen, G17 PPC, collapsable to the size of a credit card, and cool enough to keep a 6 pack cold.(This is just cause I want a new imac)

Apple is on a roll and in light of Google - Sun announcement, there is going to be some competition over the next couple of years for market share in OS and Office products.
So- here's hoping for lots of new announcements, rapid development, and market share growth for Apple! If they can keep this momentum.

I have heard it's about an upgrade to the G5 series.

The Nano upgrade will be talked about first, then at the end Steve will talk about an upgrade to the G5 desktop and powerbook. With Christmas around the corner, an upgrade to the G5 desktops and powerbooks, will give users more choices of products that will fit there budgets. Funny, sounds like the Windows PC's way of doing business.

How about a Sonos-like digital music system

I would be interested in seeing a digital music system for multiple rooms, like the Sonos system, manufactured by Apple!?

forget powerbook G5

how many times do people have to be reminded that pb g5 is NOT coming? Apple is not stupid to sell pb g5 for 7-8 months and EOL it.

and why do people think pb and pm update cannot happen along with video ipod? it doesn't have to be one or the other.

Personally i think pb and pm update will happen on Tuesday and then there is "one more thing" that comes out on Wednesday.

and about the movie curtain....although it could imply "movie," it could also imply "curtain call" as to final update to g4 series.

Re hi-def PowerBooks. Please, no! My poor eyes! I have to use this thing for hours a day!

Or rather, it would make a great option, but please don't make micro-pixels standard until the UI is fully res-independent. (Which means Leopard. Tiger has it, but it's hidden and meant for devs to prepare for Leopard.)

The pixels on my PowerBook are already small enough that readability is an issue. I don't need my menus and text shrunk any more! It's not worth adding workspace--not when Exposé manages workspace so well anyway.

But for some people, higher resolutions would be a desirable option. I'd like to see the choice available.

And once Leopard is out... go nuts! The smaller the pixels the better :)

Funny, sounds like you think Powerbooks are already G5

Give them a break. ThinkSecret isn't some clandestine intelligence service. It's a hobby site run by a kid from Harvard.

Give who a break? I'm replying to a post saying we have absolutely no reason to doubt them as they have a perfect track record. Far from it. Maybe once upon a time but that was a long time ago. They are hit and miss just like any other rumor site these days.

I like that idea. The final curtain call.

Shipping is being extended on PB 15" Super & 17"

I checked the Apple site a little bit ago and in the last few hours they have lengthened the shipping time frame on the higher end Powerbook. This may not mean much or it could mean alot.

I dunno. I just bought a new 12" PB and will take it back and raise cain with the manager if they update... They said I was nuts and knew nothing. I needed it, I bought it. Maybe it's worth losing $100 smacks for the update.

2005 was an amazing year for Apple

1) The Mac mini
2) The iPod shuffle
3) iWork
4) Mac OS X Tiger
5) The Intel Announcement
6) The Mighty Mouse
7) Fall of the mini, Rise of the nano

And now...

One more thing.

BBC 6 Music reports Apple video iPod to be unveiled in London next week

This is bad news for the powerbooks

Why? They can announce new PowerBooks with a press release any time they want. I doubt they would want to draw attantion to a .03 GHz speed boost or an HD display that PC manufacturers have had for over a year. The PowerMacs would be worth of attention if they got dual dual-core processors but with the Intel transition even that would be at least a little odd.

IMO, upgrades should be kept for things like WWDC, for some reason I dont see Apple making as big a deal as this about powermac/powerbook upgrades. I think it'll be a video ipod, or somehing new maybe?

This is aimed at no one in particular, but I think it is hilarious that half the people complain that updates don't take place more often and others insist that updgrades should only be at major events.

Here's what I hope for, and think is possible (but unlikely): iTunes video store. H.264 encoded videos that you can download. Near DVD quality, around 500mb downloads. New Airport Express streams your movies to your TV and stereo. New G4 PowerBooks and G5 PowerMacs. PowerMacs are dual core, PowerBooks are HD.

Once the movie store proves itself, Apple will release the iPod video, because there is no longer the problem of no content. You can hook it up to TV's- always have your DVD collection with you, or you can watch video podcasts on the built in screen.

I think if they worked overtime, they could've gotten all that ready behind the scenes.

Damn you for stealing what I was going to say, and probably saying it better than I could have :)

EXCLUSIVE: iPod mini to move entirely to flash and color, shuffle and phone details emerge
By Ryan Katz, Senior Editor

September 2, 2005 - Apple will upgrade both its iPod mini and iPod shuffle lines of music players, but most likely not at its media event next week, Think Secret has learned. The media event will instead be devoted almost exclusively to the new iTunes-enabled Motorola phone and the company's partnership with Cingular.

ThinkSecret headline a few days before the Sept 7 event. They were right on some things. But as with this announcement today, they went against the popular rumors saying that the "Flash Mini" would come later.

Seems they are going against the tide again.

Hopefully we get both. New iPod and new Macs.

Hope you're not disappointed when nothing comes on Tuesday. Seeing as how Oct. 12th is a Wednesday and all...

I wonder if Apple is Canary Trapping one of them... This would the perfect way of doing it. I bet they also do it for OS X.

October 12th is also the day Apple finds out which rumor site was leaking confidential info :)

Actually, they will find out which employee was leaking info to the rumour sites. They know right now which site is correct.
