Hands up for the G5 PowerBook, but it would have to be something a bit more special than just replacign a G4 in there with a G5. Perhaps dual dual 3.0 G5, Pre-N airport, blu-ray, 200GB HDD, 1GB memory, brighter HD screens, 512MB graphics....

Perhaps I should have aimed a little bit lower, but wouldn't this be a nice farewell to PPC.

Only 1GB Memory, that's a bit modest

Maybe Jobs is going to announce that the whole Intel thing was just a big joke. He was just trying to see how many people would buy it (no pun). Then he'll introduce a dual-proc, dual-core G5 at 3.0 Ghz.

Unless by some miracle Apple is announcing Intel PowerBooks and PowerMacs there is absolutely no reason whatsoever to hold an event over them. It makes no sense to draw that much attention to a platform in the process of being phased out. ThinkSecret is loosing credibility. Just a few weeks ago, despite all logic, they adamantly stated there would be no new PowerBooks until January. Now they are stating the exact opposite.

Apple could easily announce them with a press release any time they want. My guess would be the 18th. I suppose they could use the iPod AV event to announce the new PowerMacs since it would be a convenient way to get the word out but make no mistake, this event is for the iPod AV. I wouldn't count on Steve Jobs to tout the virtues of a .03 GHz boost to the PowerBook though. No one is that great of a salesman. Not even Steve Jobs. Expect a press release on that one for sure.

The "one more thing" tagline on the latest invite obviously follows up on the previous invite for the iPod nano. It's pretty clear what the focus of this event will be about.

Let us also not forget that the market for mp3 players was almost non-existant when the 1G iPod was released, it even took a few more years after that for it to really explode, so getting in with the video now might be a sensible option.

It's technically true to say that mp3 players were not a large market when the original iPod was announced, but it's not entirely fair.

The portable audio market was plenty huge when the original ipod came out. Everyone had a discman or a walkman or a portable radio to use on their commute or when they worked out. iPod was such a better experience that it has started to

I was just thinking, Imagine riding to bus to work in the morning and seing several people staring at their A/V ipods and watching TV. wow that is gona be wild.

I don't think "one more thing" implies multiple separate things AT the event. (Although several related announcements may well be made.)

The phrase means one more big thing after the nano, or one more big thing this year, one more big thing that Apple hasn't done before. Something in a larger sense like that.

No iPod video, at least not how some of you think. Who wants to pay $400+ to hold their arm up in front of their face for two hours as they watch a movie on a screen the size of a match book?

I'm going with Airport Express with video out to play the movies on your TV that were just downloaded from the iTunes movie store.

$400 to watch Spiderman on a business card?

I'd even go so far as to say that flash-based mp3 player market was large (I seem to remember quite a few of the 32, 64, and maybe 128MB units), but the hard-drive based mp3 players were simply not taking off.

Now imagine them all bottlenecked at the door trying to vomit from motion sickness, then wandering blearily off, bouncing off of light poles and blinking sightlessly after staring at a tiny screen for an hour.

It's cool, but it's not mainstream cool :)

Just quickly skimming that article and it says the click wheel will be on the side, (right hand side in landscape), very much like the faked picture. While I can see this, I still think it will only be on the side wehn you are ...............

Keeping in mind that while previous leaks have been found to be BS there have been a couple instances where they’ve been close. One example being the G5 iMac and the all too familiar elevator. Those hoaxed picts while off had enough things right to make life interesting for Mac fans.

I think we need the link to the original thread when the 1st iPod was released.

Nor was the MP3 player until Apple came out with the iPod. Until the iPod the MP3 player was not a popular form of playing music. The CD player was and to a certain extent still is king.

If Apple brings out a video iPod with a good sized screen that is still pocketable while maintaining a "lower" Music line iPod this could work.

yah you ain't kidding. I don't know a single person who holds their PSP up to their face while watching a video. Not one.

I love all the people that are like "Nope. Not gonna happen. No-sir-ey. Nope. Wrong wrong wrong. Blah blah fjhaeiuwfjlkaldsj"

You make baby Jesus cry.

No. $500 to watch ripped Netflix movies (That are deleted once you are done.) that you take with you on the go while you wait in a airpoint, or on the bus, or killing time while a server installs a OS, or waiting for the router to move the firmware across a slow *** connection cable. yah. No market what so ever.

Is the iWork suite complete?

Am still obsessing about this "orange" clue.

Since the iWork logo is orange, and Steve mentioned once that they're working on the spreadsheet, maybe this will be the announcement of the latest version of a now-complete iWork, and that it's available for Windows as well.

That might be invitation-worthy

These are the same red curtains that greet you when you open iDVD
There is an old curtain theme in iDVD, but it is a different photo.

A much simpler explanation is that the curtains shown on the invitation look like the stage curtains at the California Theatre.

I don't think so. I think they'll wait until MWSF '06 and release it as part of iWork '06.

What are you talking about? I live for the crappy low pixel, small screened, high contrast LCD. The best part is after about 2 hours your eyes being to burn from the flawless quality of 160 x 320 pixels.

/Rough estimates
//Sarcasm of course :cool:
