Yes & No, are you forgetting Rosetta!!!???

I don't want to run Photoshop or InDesign through Rosetta, nor probably some other of my 80+ third-party software.

In reference to no software being available for the Intel Mac.
Jobs already said OSX and the iLife suite has been naitively ported to Intel.
This means iLife and perhaps even Pages and Keynote.
As for developers trying to port to X86 they are under the NDA so people wouldn't really know if 3rd party software is or isn't ready now.

I was peeking at think secrets discussion.Which btw cant hold a candle to the number of people on this board right now..
One person supposedly in the know said to think the color orange..
Take that with a grain of confussion but comparing Apples to Oranges suggests Apple and X86...
Either that or it was a reference to the new tangerine PowerBooks.

I don't understand the curtains metaphor on the invitation if the event is to announce new PowerPC products.

A video-capable iPod, iTunes Video Store, or a home media box seems more likely to me.

The curtains COULD resemble a movie theatre, and be a tease towards a new/updated HD focused device! New P/Book &/OR P/Mac with B/Ray + uprated CPU/GPU.

I do hope it's a new P/Book as my trusty 1GHz G4 is needing a refresh as I start an MBA next week (and also starting to take too many pix in RAW with a new D50). And as my life is going to be on my laptop, a nice 17" P/Book is about to be ordered if it is updated.

If not, I'll wait until it is. I'm from the school who are going to wait a couple of revisions of Intel before jumping in, so I don't want to wait another two years (really), even though the 1GHz is fine at the moment.

Just my two cents. :D

Don't you think it's odd that people have been receiving updated Mac Mini's and yet Apple has not yet made any comments towards it - nor does their website reflect any changes to the line. Perhaps this whole event is for something we already know about and we're all getting worked up for not. Personally I'm hoping a 13" widescreen PB is in the works - but quite frankly if I don't see one next Wednesday, I'm going out on Thursday and picking up a 12" PB and will live happily with the choice. :)

As will I.

Aint going to happen. Powermacs and Powerbooks should be reserved for WWDC

This statement makes no sense. Apple never releases hardware at WWDC. The ONLY time that is happened that I can recall was the G5 release and it has not happened sense. WWDC is a developer conference.

That has already been rubbished as the corners aren't exactly the same, the screen looks like a Toshiba PDA startup screen etc.

However, judging by recent leaked products that were clearly faked, (Mac Mini, Cinema Displays), that won't be too far off how the iPod AV will look.

Netflix and Apple to release Tivo to-go on iPod Gen5 which at the upper end will be a video iPod. This service which has been around for a while for PDA's and Windows Media devices allows you to take Tivo content with you. Now you can do the same on your vPod.

Oh and one more thing...iTunes is now integrated with the new NetFlix video on demand. Open iTunes on your desktop and you will have a new option: Video Store. Sign into NetFlix and add several items to your bin. iTunes starts downloading the first three at a high transfer rate. Once all three are downloaded it starts the next one in the list at a slower transfer rate so it doesn't completely kill Apple's and Netflix's servers. Once you have one movie downloaded if it detects a Tivo system on your network it will transfer any completed download to the DVR system where you can play it from the Tivo itself. Of course when you sync your Video Pod it will transfer the movies onto it as well along with bookmarks showing where you last stopped viewing a video either on your desktop, laptop, vPod, or Tivo.

*wakes up*

Rumor mongering....bleh

We obviously won't know till it happens - which is what Apple wants. Makes you wonder if they pass out false rumors sometimes just to muddy the waters.

D

I've always wondered if Apple knows exactly what they're doing with these rumor sites, being that they know we Mac nuts go crazy over this kinda stuff and it keeps our excitement for everything Apple going through the roof.

At least they usually live up to the hype one way or another. I don't think I could maintain my enthusiasm if was just a "Malibu Stacy with a hat" behind the red curtain.

That has already been shown to be a fake. And a bad one at that. The image being displayed on the thing is from a Toshiba Pocket PC. Go ahead and read Engadget's thread with that picture.

Oh and at this point from here on out I call BS on any picture that could be mistaken for Bigfoot. I think this one counts. I love how all the undercover shots of top secret hardware is blurry as hell.

All someone did was take their Pocket PC. Show the default welcome screen. Make a cardboard cutout, paint it white, put the scroll wheel on it, cut out a hole for a widescreen display since Pocket PC’s aren’t 16:9, slap it on top of the Pocket PC, and turn out the lights. Now take a really dark picture so you don't see the cardboard around it and BAM. You got yourself a vPod. 15 minutes tops to make.

Thinking about all the talk of the iTunes Video Store, (which I am still not convinced of), and the recent talk of iTunes 5.0.2 on the horizon could also signal some kind of increased video capability.

I know on some previous interviews/conferences Steve Jobs has mentioned that they like to keep the rumour sites guessing.

Though as to whether Steve sits at home browsing these forums laughing to himself... I somewhat doubt that.

I think it would be interesting if they came up with a new newton or something. I 'm really interested in a PDA and particulary the palm Lifedrive. If apple did offer an alternative i might go with that one.

http://www.apple.com/movies

The link has been created, but is currently off limit.

A non existent page gives you THIS message:

http://www.apple.com/lada
No you don't, you get a page forbidden notice rather than a page not found notice. Even though I still think this is an iPod AV announcement more than anything, the page for movies may not signal either that or a Video Store, it could be to do with new software, a blu-ray burner info page or any one of a hundred different possibilities.

Well TS is usually on the ball so this is disappointing news for me since I am not in the market for either of these lines. I still hope something video related appears. This will be a big test of the rumour sites credibility for me.

Perhaps he's even podfuture himself and is spreading rumours this time knowing he was right about the nano and wrong about this iPod. If I was Steve Jobs, I would really enjoy playing games with Mac fans.

what a hint... you ARE Steve Jobs! Apples next venture is game consoles. "one more thing, we've got a console". that runs rings around the Xbox360 performance wise, looks better than the Rev and well... is just better than a PS3 in every aspect!

am i right or what! :p

EVERYBODY IS WRONG!!!!!!

I have confirmed 100% that the "one more thing" is in specific reference to an update to the eMac.

:p

Haha, I wish.

If you don't believe me, (which i'm sure you all do), go to pinkfloydonline.com's message board and check out my profile. I am a moderator on that board and I doubt Steve Jobs would have the time.
