:apple: Um, I ordered mine from Amazon does anybody know if im likely to get it on Friday? How has Amazon been in the past with OSX? :( :apple:

The people here have ordered through the UTD program not retail, there is another thread just like this one for folks who bought retail. You can only get the UTD discs directly from Apple, not Amazon. I would have to say that ordering directly from Apple would get you the fastest delivery...but you might want to ask someone who ordered from Amazon with Tiger and remembers/ I ordered Tiger through Apple so I don't know unfortunately.
Here is the link to the other thread! I'm sure they can help! :)

It's amazing that Apple doesn't standardize it's support scripts. Every call costs them money, so after a few of you call and get different answers, more call and get more different answers. You'd think they'd figure this out to reduce the number of calls for the exact same question.

When iLife 08 came out, I called Apple because I was just outside of the UTD window. The first guy I spoke to said no, the second guy bargained with me.. first offering me a backpack?!?, then 10% off, then 50% off. When I asked for a supervisor, he came on and said he'd send me the disc for free.. no $9.95.
My friend did the same and went through the same negotiations until getting it for free from the supervisor. We're talking 2 20 minutes calls that both resulted in Apple spending money. I can't believe that that is an efficient business strategy.

also "no record found"

i also checked it for my ilife upgrade that i received about a month ago and there was no record found...so i don't know how useful it is

for what it's worth, i got this additional confirmation about UTD orders:

"The expected turnaround [of transit time] is 3-7 business days after shipment. The expected turnaround [of shipment] is within 24 hours of receipt of the order upon availability, which will be the 26th."

and USPS is "the expected carrier."

for the 2nd time... after talking on the fone for half n hr n be transfered everywhere... the final word is ALL UP TO DATES will be DELIEVERED BY OCT 26th. i asked 4 times ARE YOU SURE? so there.

i mean that is great news if true! for some reason they seem not to know what is going on. the reports seem to be 50/50 in terms of what they're saying the delivery date is. obviously i hope that you are correct...i guess we just have to wait and see though.

its not there? whereabouts is it? i cant find it?

Go to apple.com
Click Store at the top of the page
Click Shop Mac on the left side of the page (the chat link only shows up on certain pages, Mac being one of them)
In the big navy blue box in the top left (under the silver Apple logo) you will see "Apple Store" and 1-800-MY-APPLE

The chat link will show up right next to the the 1-800-MY-APPLE. It loads a couple seconds after the rest of the page, so just wait for a little bit and it will pop up.

Hope that helps.

I agree with you... it is 50/50... it's the waiting game again.....

Just called the Apple Store again....he said it would be shipping out on 10/26, and after a long wait (finding the answer from a supervisor or something) he said that we would recieve it at the first part of next week, so Monday to Wednesday.

Not a bad wait, but im contemplating whether to borrow a friends copy on the weekend.

Damn me and my stupid needs of having things the moment it comes out

One more update guys...
I just called apple again.
Spoke to a very nice and understanding representative named Brandon. He didn't know the answer but he was more than happy to talk to his manager. His manager said that UTD Leopard should be delivered via FedEx on Friday. I was somewhat skeptical of this information, but get this:
Brandon said that on his computer, my order came up as "Prepared for Shipment," even though for me it still says "Not yet shipped." !!!

In response to saxey's post, it's pretty amazing the conflicting information we're getting from these managers!

I know....i actually find it pretty comical that people hear different things...I originally figured that we should be getting them on Friday, just because we cant cancel our orders....Mine is greyed out, and the first guy i spoke to..also very nice (same guy maybe...haha) said that since its greyed out, it means that it is prepard for shipping

He also said i would be recieving a tracking # sometime today or tomorrow (he said that UPS ( or USPS...i dunno...im canadian) is a little slow on things

Ohh well...time to play the waiting game

ok

us canadians prob have to wait until the iPhone comes here for leopard wich will never happen..thats why i love my unlocked one!

FWIW...
I just spoke with an apple rep, before even checking the forums here (not that that really matters), but this guy told me that UTD orders will be received on the 26th . I made him repeat himself after distinguishing between UTD and regular orders, and he still confirmed that UTD orders will be received on the 26th. I'm not saying that he is correct, all I'm saying is that he said that we UTDers will be in receipt of Leopard on the 26th. We'll see.
