I just walked in and got the 16GB white today, factory unlocked :) No AT&T, no Sprint, and no Verizon :D


Unfortuneately, without a sim card, it won't get past the SIM activation screen :( I'm now stuck.:eek:

Don't you have a cell phone now? factory unlocked Iphone can be activated with any gsm sim. Just cut your current cell phone's sim to micro sim, pop it in and activate it. You just need an Apple ID and internet connection available so you can activate it.

Ah, I bought this for use as a iPod touch o.0, gave away old iPod touch to niece and didn't want A5 in iPad size... Anyhow, some very nice MR members already helped me out with this, thank you very much! :)

yes thats confusing ... most of the poeple dont even notice this ... if there is a problem with the phone .. you only have 14 days to return it ...
strange people paying less for iphones (locked) get longer return time of 30 days ...
 
Any one status appears suck in the Preparing for Shipment stage? I had the status since Friday around 1600hrs

The wait is killing me :(

Hi, what seems to be common is that they go to the Preparing for Shipment phase on or around the 10th day after placing your order, so in your case on or around the 19th. Then it usually ships right after that

Yes! It shipped this morning , yay me. Delivery is on the 16th though.
 
I purchased mine through the apple web on Dec. 1st. and I am NOT a happy camper. Its still processing items. Initially delivery was from Dec. 14 - Dec. 21 and I noticed yesterday they changed it to Dec. 13- Dec. 20 and they included the "Add Free Gift Message". BUT THE sh i te IS STILL PROCESSING! So basically I dont know if it has already been shipped and thats the reason the changed the date or whatnot.

After 9pm each day, Apple allows people to go online making reservation for 4S phone including factory unlocked that you can pick up the next day at Apple store. The process is very simple. I did that and get mine next day at the Apple store. Obviously, this method only work for people who lives close by Apple store or willing to drive to one to pick it up.

Since the day of the release i've been 20 times to an Apple store and they never had it nor knew when they will... I was so frustrated WILLING to spend over 700 bucks and they did not want me to...amazing.

When you walk in, they will not have it in stock. I have helped few friends of mine reserved it on line and pick up the next day. They only allow 1 reservation per Apple ID per day.

The white one usually goes very fast, black one always available for reservation.

You must download the "apple store" app in the app store, when the time is 8:54 pm you enter the site were you can choose what kind of iPhone you want.

The time zone? The Eastern time zone in the u.s. (New York, Boston ...)

So if you are not in that time zone you will have to calculate the time difference.

For example were i live it is 5 hours + , so i had to do this at 1:54 am

Yes, you can order 2 per Apple ID per day, but only 1 order per day.
 
Today at around 5 pm my status moved to "preparing for shipment" o_O so to summarize: Ordered Dec.1st - prepared Dec.12.
That is to Houston, TX.
 
I think I am going to cancel the online order and purchase through the app... Not because I don't want to wait but due to working and not being at home to sign or whatnot. Last thing needed to fool around between warehouses or shipping it back :s will try in 12 mins :) see whats the outcome.
 
yey... finally i got mine. delivered last friday, but my brother-in-law just arrived today from LA. sooo happy : ) .. purchased last nov 23.

I couldn't reserve it beforehand (it still doesn't allow me to reserve anything, as of this morning), though when I walked in, there were still around ~10 iPhone 4S (and numberous others) in a cordoned off area. I walked up and paid cash for mine (white 4S 16GB) on the 9th, around noon, this way. Roseville Apple store. It's wierd, since I never expected them to have the 4S in stock :eek: Oh, well, I'm now the owner of an extremely powerful iPod Touch :D

4S factory unlocked is the one that goes very fast. Did you buy this? if you do, why did you have an ipod touch?

I guess he was just kidding but realistically at the end of the day is just an iPod that you can make calls to other ipods and non ipods :D

Yup, factory unlocked. I think I may of uploaded my receipt a page back or so.


I bought this to replace an old, semi-working iPod touch 1g, wanted the most powerful iOS device, yet I didn't want the iPad size.

I was considering getting an iPod touch 4G for myself, however, I, by chance, actually picked up an iPhone demo unit at a local electronics store... The precise weight, perfectly symmetrical and glass cold feel, fated my faithful iPod touch 1G's replacement to be none other than the iPhone 4/4S. I walked into an Apple store the very next day, saw the 4S was available, unlocked, and only 100usd (money well spent to bequeath desire, IMO) over the iPhone 4... I walked out with an iPhone 4S, old iPod touch in tow :)

It has fully taken my old iPod's role. Web surfing, GUI navigation, an gaming(!), are all significantly improved on this clean slate of unmitigated usefulness.

That is why, and what, I use iPhone 4S for. I'm considering supplanting my current phone with this, however, I do have a very cozy corporate relationship with my WP7 device.

Well... i tried the app thing and none of the 5 apple stores I have "near' had it... but I am happy to annouce I will be getting my shipment on THURSDAY!!

Now....since I am receving it at 10 am and I am working I should change the address to work, can that be done? I have changed it in the Apple ID but is not showing the new address in the Apple Store Order page :S

In my limited experience with that app... It's useless for determining stock per store.

If it was ordered with an address and already shipped out, you cannot change the address. If it is FedEx, you *may* be allowed to redirect it to a FedEx Office (fmr. Kinkos) for pickup.

thanks Jeremy...I went to my nearest Kinkos and they said they could receive it but asked me to call Fedex 1-800... so I did...I was told only one other store not the one I wanted. So I wanted to change address and Fedex told me to call 18-0-Myapple they are the ones that can only do that...so i did..I was told the address was changed BUT they cannot promise me it will 100% happen...

Right know the address is still the old one :S
 
I was in the SF store last Wednesday, and they had unlocked phones in stock, but just not the specific one I wanted.

So on Saturday I dropped by the Lynnwood (WA) store mid-afternoon and they also had some in stock, including the 16GB black one I was after.

All of this was without using the online reservation system (which showed they had none in stock). I just called and asked, or dropped by the store.

Either I've been really lucky, or they are making it into the stores now in decent quantities. You just need to call and ask.
