offically factory unlocked iphone 4s Order Status Thread (not the AT&T unlocked one)

if both att iPhone 4s locked on contract and unlocked no contract price come with sim, how do they do unlock or lock it considering the phones are sealed in box and apple or att don't know if the customer will sign a contact or not cause if they do sign they sign it on the spot, do they change something in the store right there in the computer that locks it down?

like is there separate inventory for locked att vs unlocked off contract att? i would think its all the same batch and i even think the new official unlocked is the exact same right? so why is it taking so long?

all AT&T iphones 4s are locked to AT&T initially , if you buy it at Apple store as DEVICE ONLY your IMEI# will be added to Apple's whitelist and will be unlocked , but might run into issues when dealing with warranties etc , or simply get locked at the next major software update, chances are slim but there is a chance , and no one can predict future.

that's why many people (like every one in this thread) waited for the official factory unlocked phone to be released to be safe then sorry.

Ordered unlocked iPhone 4S on 11-11-11. I was told to expect deliver between 11/28 and 12/4. My phone has shipped via FedEx and arrived in Memphis last night and cleared international shipping. Email say deliver 25 November but maybe it will be here (Oregon) sooner :)
 
Mine is still prepping for shipment. The wait is killing me as I reeeeeaally need some sort of smart phone (I've been using a flip in the meantime)

Guys, anybody ordered the iphone on 15/11 and status of the iphone has been changed to be "preparing for shipment"? :confused::confused:
 
Received ship notices today for about a dozen phones. The others still show processing.
