Have they fixed the attachments (pics) display in Outlook? In Entourage it wouldn't display pics bigger than 400 KB or so, even after you've downloaded the attachment.

Outlook is an epic fail with no GCAL and mobile me calender syncing.. UGH!!! Entourage had mobileme calendar syncing FFS!

Contacts sync fine if anyone cares..

Is that the final build? It's been a bug bear of mine with the beta but I had hoped full iCal sync for our idevices etc.. would be supported in the final version.

If thats not the case it's most certainly makes using the calendar feature of outlook a no-no for me at the moment.

There are a few questions I'd love answered for those of you who can play around with the GM of Office:

1) In Excel, is making a chart actually intuitive? Is it akin to the Chart Wizard that was back in versions of Windows? Can I make portrait style bar graphs now?

2) I use Word Notebook layout a lot, but it would frequently crash when I tried to insert too many pictures; in general that seemed like a very buggy view and program. Any comments on smoothness/ease of use?

3) In Powerpoint, what are some word effects that are available? Any comment on the speed of that program? Is it compatible with the remote still? Any word on a "powerpoint viewer" app like one for the "keynote" viewer (that could be more of a speculation answer but any answer is welcome).

Thanks

Does Word still have the "blue background, white text" option? I LOVE this feature and am very unhappy that they took it out of the more recent Windows versions of Office (which I have to use at work). Please tell me they left it in the Mac version!

Mac Office 2011 Outlook Exchange Contact Sync Question

I am noticing when my PC is connected to exchange I am showing 229 contacts but with Outlook 2011 on the Mac (connected to Exchange 2007) there is a slight discrepancy, I am only showing 225 contacts.

Anyone else see this? Thinking maybe they are hiding a couple in Outlook 2011 or combining something (similar contacts or something).

Thanks!

That's a new interface that came about in v2007, but the core functionality has not changed since....maybe v5? (v2007 is really v12) Except for sort by color. Thanks, I was just checking.

Are you sure? Well, I only know that the Mac Office 2008 doesn't give nearly as many options. You cannot filter by more complex criteria, by colors, by icons, unselect all values, then select only some specific to display. I am really ashamed to say that, but in the windows version this works like a charme! :D

- Outlook Calendar can no longer synch with iCal ( for sync to iPhone).

- No option to redirect emails.

- No option to resend emails.

It's the final build.. and it really really sucks that you can't sync with ical/iphone

Given this news, where's a new version of iWork? It debuted with a big splash and then nothing.

Got the final version through work this morning (enterprise accounts FTW!) and have to say that it rocks! It "feels" much better and more polished than the beta versions. Love it!

charts

How quick are the charts, and how easy are they to manipulate?

I liked excel 2003 (windows) for this - it was very easy and fast for a quick look at the data. The 2007 (windows) not so good and 2008 (mac).. really slow and jerky!

People already have the retail version?

This may seem like a silly question, but how have some of you people got your hands on the retail version?

Some of the things I've discovered in Outlook I'm not sure how to fix (and would appreciate any suggestions)
- No automatic spell checker (fix manually or when you send it will go out with errors)

Outlook checks spelling automatically. If you've got a spelling error, it's shown by a red dotted line underneath the misspelled word.

- Signature defaults to above quoted text so can get confusing when replying to a thread

Top-posting has superseded inline replies, so many people complain when we put the signature at the bottom. Damned if you do ... :)

- When changing a meeting in calendar, no option to just send update to added/deleted participants

When you update your meeting, if the change is just changing participants, you'll get a dialog asking you if you want to send the update to everyone or just to the added/deleted participants.

- In the calendar, adding resources like conference rooms needs to be done one at a time rather than en-masse making it difficult if you are searching for a single open room out of 25 possibilities

This is something we're looking at addressing in a future release. I totally feel your pain -- there are hundreds of meeting rooms here, and I'm frequently looking at a bunch of them to see if one is available at the time when I want to hold a meeting.

Thanks for the thoughtful feedback! It's great to see people putting Outlook through its paces. :)

Regards,
Nadyne.

ChemDraw round trip editing

For Word 2008 the deal breaker was the inability to edit ChemDraw figures after they were placed in a Word or ppt document. Trying to repaste them back to ChemDraw resulted in an unedutable image with all structural information lost. Any ChemDraw users know if this is/will be fixed. Microsoft blamed CambridgeSoft who blamed MicroSoft who both agreed it was Apple's fault.
