Can you please check if synching from Outlook to address book/notes/ical and thence to Me.com works better without the duplication of entries, which was frequently a problem with Entourage.

Thanks

Wilson

I have the same question. It syncing isn't better, I probably won't buy it. It would be helpful to hear your experience. Currently, things are particularly bad when I enter things on my iPhone - Entourage an iCal seems to bounce back and forth replicating the entry end up with 10 copies.

I've got the pleasure (thanks to Tristangage) to get my hands on the retail version of Office 2011. Yes, it's the retail version, not beta. I know it's not being released for another month.

I haven't had much time to play around with it as I got it today but so far, the experience has been nothing more but positive. The apps feel very responsive. Actually, it feels like I'm using Office in Windows  Outlook seems to be pretty equal to the Windows version.

I don't know what to test so please ask if you have anything on your mind that I could try. I've included a screenshot of every app, feel free to take a look!

What build is your Office 2011?

As Hellhammer and I have exactly the same software, I'll just go ahead and answer - Version 14.0.0 Build 100825.

I see, thanks. So will you be able to update for free whenever MS releases any updates etc.? In other words, is your version 100% official one?

I haven't tried updating yet as there are no updates available but it should be the official retail version so whenever an update occurs, we should be able to update it.

Nice. But when will iWork '10 (or '11?) comes out?

I'm having Office 2008, but I don't like like it very much. (because it's from Microsoft. :p) I think iWork is better. :)

No one knows when it will arrive.

But Office 2011 is excellent! iWork is most certainly not better.

Hey a friend of mine bought the 2008 office with his mac, and MS has a campaign that you can get the 2011 free if you have all of the 3 product keys and the receipt from the purchase. Does anyone know, if you can get three product keys for the 2011 version also?

hows the compatibility between win and macos? im asking because between office 2007 and office 2008 you couldnt exchange word docs with embedded formula. they werent displayed and thats really odd ..

It's supposed to have gotten really good. I have nothing to compare it against since I haven't used 08, but the compatibility is incredible (tried w/ Word, PPT and Excel files)

It works perfectly with all the Macros vie tried.

I think it's by design - I have read before that the MacBU wants the interface to be familiar but not exact since the two OS's have different interfaces.
That makes sense, especially since Office for the Mac is usually released 1 year after Office for Windows.

If true, too bad they can't make it more of a collaborative process and release both versions at the same time.

It works perfectly with all the Macros vie tried.
Thanks good to hear. :)

You might be greeted with the ribbon, but you still have the traditional icon-set above that, so its nothing like the 100% new GUI you get when you install Office on a PC.

On first look, the fact that all apps launch very fast and are responsive is a massive step in the right direction.

Am I the only one having trouble with shortcuts?
Command-V, copy-paste simply do not work.
This happened to betas too, but I hoped that it would be done right to the final version.
But as I can see, the problem still exists.
Nobody has this problem?

I have been playing around with Office 2011 and I have to say it is a really solid release. Loving the ribbon. The Old toolbox was just far too condensed to be useful. It's great to be able to run my macros on my Mac OS instead of having to reboot into Windows! :D

I never thought I would say this again: Good job Microsoft.

Agreed, although it will never be perfect I think we are now to the point where instead of complaining about how much better the windows version is people can complain about actual flaws of the program or missing features or features they want. Although 2011 UI is 100% the same as windows, I can now switch to Office for windows and be right at home.

I have no issues, you might be the only one. If it were an issue in the Betas, tons of people would have complained by now. Btw, why didn't you file a bug report when you got the Beta?

On an other note, Word loads much faster than Pages (in like half the time actually) and the some goes for Excel (vs Numbers) and PPT (vs Keynote).

i have the beta 6 v. of office 2011

I'm really happy with the whole suite, especially Outllook finally!!!! Good bye Entourage!! I also like the new Powerpoint, I think the best v. for Mac ever made.

Nice to have had the chance to test drive the whole suite.

So far, I highly recommend it. It's seems to be much like office 2007 with some extra Mac features.

PS I've been using the beta since the week of Labor Day.

Now we've got individuals with their hands on office 2011 why don't Microsoft just make it available on line to everyone right now rather than having to wait till next month?

Ya PPT is great but I feel as if some of the effects for the text are still better in Keynote. Also the "Rehearse PPT" feature is fantastic!

Nope, it must be you.
