Well the ram and the new crumpler bag i've ordered for my mbp have arrived so I hope that the delay on the orders is not march!

I'm going to call up again later and ask to talk to a supervisor. If they are delayed until sometime in March I might cancel too.

When they were originally announced in Jan I thought well okay it's worth it since it'll be almost a year before Conroe and Merom so it's not a complete waste. But if I end up getting it in March or April then the time I'd have the machine before the next major CPU revision is just getting less and less.

I've had delays of a few days before but I think delaying an estimate by over a month is a bit much!

I wonder if other manufacturers such as Dell are pushing their Core Duos back to mid March.

Haha! after moving my ship date back to March the 10th, they've now just charged my credit card for it!

I'm still on the 15th...sorry to those pushed back....

Are the US ship dates unchanged? looks like there going to try and ship the US ones first, i have to admit i was surprised initially when UK orders were due before US ones.

Same here... though it's entirely possible they could wait until the 15th and then push us to March 15th or something :(

While I feel bad for you guys if that's true, I hope you're right and mine does still ship on the 15th.

i just called apple...and asked about why they pushed back some of the orders a month i.e the dude from the 10th of feb to 10th of march...and the lady "i must say very sexy voice :D" told me the macbook pro was never intended to ship before the 15th of february...i asked her about my order as its due to ship on the 24th if i would have the same problem that it will be pushed back by a month aswell...and she said no it wont happend, she couldnt explain why this happened to some other customers....so i guess this hole story about shipping on the 10th of february is just bogus or something i dont know....

im sorry for the people that had their orders pushed back by a month but i really hope that this wont happend to me....its already a pain to wait for the 24th feb for it to be shiped :(

Not too sure what's going on with mine..

Initially my credit card company held the transaction up as it's a large amount, then my order moved to cancelled status, then it moved back to Action Required status...and it's still sat there.

My credit card has been billed though, despite Apple saying the transaction hasn't gone through..

If it's pushed back to March I'm going to cancel and hold out for an updated iBook and spend the rest of the money elsewhere!

I hope more people cancel, just means I'll get my Mac Book sooner. :)

And it appears "I'm waiting for Merom" is the new "I'm waiting for PowerBook G5's". You guys should just come to terms with the fact that you'll never buy a new computer and just buy a G3 Wallstreet PowerBook on Ebay for $300.

same feeling here lol

I called them and spoke to them again citing order numbers for another two MacBooks that are still scheduled to ship on the 15th. The guy said that as far as he knew they would ship on the 15th (although he couldn't guarantee it).

He then took my details for the one that was supposed to ship today and said he will send off a request to find out exactly what's going on with it. He said that usually takes a day or two though and so he won't get back to me until Monday.

That's what is going on with mine as well, apparantly it takes a few days for them to figure out what's going on!

Would they normally take the full amount and not ship a product for a month??

No, I've only ever had them charge me on the day or after it has shipped.

Huh? When I posted that I posted on both forums anyway so there's no need to refer back to it. It's already in this thread (last post on page 9).

I don't care about merom and im not cancelling until after the 15th to see if it ships in this first bunch. ;)

Why are you so impatient? Even if it takes another month to ship, who cares? Even with Intel on their side I really, really doubt that Apple is going to speed up their hardware release cycle at all. A Mac Book Pro should be the new hotness for at least 6-8 months, even with a month shipping delay.

...And even then, it's still going to be the new hotness. I have an IBM T41P I was kicking myself for buying when the T42's came out because they came with the newer intel processors, which a friend of mine got. Know what the only difference was? A few frames per second in games, and a few pixels in bench marks, and slightly better battery life. I don't think waiting 6-8 months for Merom, or whatever comes after that due to some amazing performance increase is very wise. Intel has historically increased performance with each processor iteration, but it's been a very long time since the new chips were anywhere near twice as fast as the old chips. We haven't seen a jump like that since P3 -> P4, and even then it wasn't even a substantial performance increase until they switched from RAMBUS memory a year or more later.

Talked to Apple and they said that they will only charge a card right before it ships or a shipment is attempted. So if the charge gets held or fails then the shipment will be held. So you will get held back until all charges will go through.

Is there anyone else in the UK with this problem?

To All VISA CHECK CARD holders as well as Credit Card Holders. You must call the provider of you card to tell them what is going on. You have to increase the normal set limit. There is a daily POS transaction limit of 2000 for all cards unless you have had this limit increased. That only happens when you call and have it set up. They may only be able to increase it for a day or so. But if you complain enough they will increase it to the next bench point (5,000) for good. But make sure that you have an apropriate limit set so that you can actually have your purchase approved. They may still call you to let you know what is going on and ask if that was a correct transaction but they will not hold it if you have the appropriate limit.

i paid by debit card and im the uk,
after 24h or so the money was taken out... if ur in the uk i sugest u do that...easiest way

So that sucks. Man and I have already gone almost a month without a computer of my own. I do not think I can survive. I will die. I have not gone that long without my own computer in the past 3 years.

Just out of curiousity, where are you posting to the forum from? You must have something you can use.

Apple eNews...

So a day or two ago I received Apple's bi-monthly or whatever eNewsletter in my E-mail. After this discussion of pushed back shipping dates and dates that haven't been shipped, I find it really funny to read this within the E-mail, did anyone else who gets Apple eNews notice this?

"Before the end of March, you’ll be able to install Universal versions of all of the software applications that comprise Final Cut Studio. In fact, we’re taking orders now.

The Universal version of Final Cut Studio will allow you to run all of the applications that come with our production studio in a box on both PowerPC-based and Intel-based computers, such as the now-shipping MacBook Pro.

Current owners of Final Cut Studio can “crossgrade” to the Universal version for just $49. If you currently own Final Cut Pro 5, Soundtrack Pro, Motion 2, DVD Studio 4, Final Cut Pro 4.x/HD, Production Suite, or Final Cut Pro 1, 2 or 3, you’ll find complete details about our low-cost upgrade program on our website."

The "now-shipping MacBook Pro" huh? Either someone's lying or some people actually are getting there's early, my guess is those close to apple and maybe some press-sites to build up more media around it. Pretty lame, and still false advertising since it seems those who were suppose to ship on the 7th-10th have been pushed back, now shipping - what a joke!;)
