Official MacRumors Nike+ June 2008 Challenges

glad to hear people are getting healthy and getting running. :)

For my part, I just moved, so will be learning some new routes. Always fun, and there's a very large wooded reservation nearby my new place, so trails here I come!

good luck with the new trails

Went out for my first run last night but it didn't upload and now my iPod doesn't list it! :( ARRGGHHH.

yeah i hate when that happens.

Hey guys, this is my first time reading this thread an I am interested. I am hoping *crosses fingers* that Nike will make a Nike+ kit for the new iPhone. If so, then I would like to contribute. I am not much of a runner but I want to start (I'm only 16 and athletic so I should be ok.) I am going to join cross country at school and want to start practicing. I also was wondering what the goal is? Is it to break a certain number of miles total or just contribute and stay healthy? Thanks and I hope Nike comes out with a running kit for the 3g Iphone!!!

i also hope they come out with it for the iphone.

but the goal of these challenges is mainly friendly competition, where we all motivate each other to keep going - mainly for health.

we do have a team goal - 25,000 miles in a year, and we also have team challenges - where you pick which team you want to be on.

After almost a month away from running due to laziness I am "back in the room"!

Bring on the July challenges :)

Need to make sure I ease myself back in!

Hey guys, not sure if anyone posted this before, but my sensor recently died. Do I have to buy a new set or is there some sort of replacement policy.

Also, how do I add myself to the group?

Thanks!

i believe you can order a replacement sensor for $19.

and you have to send ziwi a PM with your nike id or email for him to send you an invite

thanks. I moved because i graduated from law school and am starting work in a new city (after the bar).

congrats on graduating! and you mean you've already passed the bar exam?

i also hope they come out with it for the iphone.

It would be cool if it tied in with the GPS, google maps and map my run on Nike+ - upload your run and if you choose you can add the map of the route with a click :) I want an iPhone :(

Anyway - 2nd run of my cto5k program tonight and it uploaded - woo :D Though its not appear on my challenges yet. Was hoping the July challenges would be up by now - I'd love to actually complete one! :)

ahha yeha taht d be cool, but let's just start with simple iPhone + kit compatibility..., I'd be very happy with just that...

You know what sucks?

I recently took a vacation and grabbed the wrong sensor for my nano. So after running 30 or so miles during the seven days, I have no records for my nike+ account! Grrrr.

You know what also sucks, the Effn' temp outside is hovering around 100 degrees. How am I supposed to get the fastest 3k in that kind of heat?

unfortunately, no. I'm studying for it now.

well good luck with it! i have a friend in the same boat.

sorry to hear that.

yeah, the temp is making things difficult

Doesnt really have to do with running but do any of you take whey protein i started taking it and made sure it fit in with my calories by doing some extra running on days i take it and since summer started i have gained 10lbs i know this cant be muscle way to quick. Anyone else have a similar experience safe to say i am no longer taking it.

i only take that when i'm lifting weights and running. sure, if you're running a lot you need extra calories. if you're just running some, then you'll just eat more at dinner and be fine.

now when i was running 50-60 miles a week, including some tempo runs and interval runs, and trying to lift weights, i made a protein shake every so often.

Yeah i go to the gym and would take it after my workout about 44grams of protein and as i said i would add extra cardio to burn the calories from the shake. I coudlnt believe what the scale said since i know its impossible to gain that much muscle that quickly. I am very upset to say the least its going to take alot of hard work to lose this weight.

Just PM'd Ziwi to get in on the challenge. I just started running for the first time ever at 19yo. I never was very athletic so this is going to be a real challenge for me. Just ran/WALKED 2 miles tonight and that was hard enough. I guess every mile helps though.

Thanks for the motivation!
Craig

yeah, i ve strated running everyday again (yesterday) but aside frm running i train 6 days a week pretty darn hard so i take a protein shake once a day, i dont lift weights tho...

yeah, you gotta be careful with that stuff.

thanks for joining! that's right, every mile counts. you'll be in shape before you know it!

i'd be careful. you really don't need that much protein from just running. you might start eating more food, which is usually enough.

oh, no, running it's just an extra portion of my training, i train mma and i spend a minimum of 3 hours a day 5-6 days a week training... proteom shakes just for running i think are also overkill
