Does anyone know what the RAM configuration would be in the new iMacs? I was thinking of ordering it with 512mb of RAM from Apple, then popping in an extra 1gb stick from Crucial, but will they ship it with 2x256mb modules filling the slots?

I have a Rev B. iMac G5, my parents have a Rev C., and after using a Rev A. at work, I've noticed that it's a hell of a lot louder than the other two.otterpop said:I bought a rev a imac g5, pretty quickly after they were announced.
What irritates me is the noise of it. I don't have a super loud one, but it does live in my bedroom, and i cannot leave it on overnight very often, due to the fan noise.
So how does the intel version compare? is it much quieter? louder? i simply can't live with one if it's too loud. would be nice to know.
also, if anyone happens to compress any divx to dvd, i wouldn't mind knowing how fast it handles it.

If you place an order, the Store then suggests iLife as an optional item before you check out. Being the nervous type I ordered this too; hope I haven't wasted 50 quid! The 'in the box' list is definitely different in the UK and US stores:
ATI Radeon X1600-128MB SDRAM
1GB 667 DDR2 SDRAM-1x1GB
250GB Serial ATA drive
SuperDrive 8X
Kybd, Mighty Mse & Mac OS X-B
Country Kit-B
Is this yet another case of UK customers paying over the odds for technology?

I opened Photoshop, and its icon bounced, and bounced, and bounced, and bounced, and bounced, and bounced, and bounced, and bounced, and bounced... Followed by a couple beachballs, the splash screen, another beachball, and finally PS was open.
That's pretty much what Photoshop does in my G4![]()
