Really? Right from the UK store iMac description on the right hand side.

Included software
iMac comes with an incredible bundle of Universal applications that run on both Intel- and PowerPC-based Macs:

* • iLife ’06
* • iWork ’06 30-day trial
* • Front Row
* • Photo Booth
* • Big Bang Board Games
* • Comic Life
* • OmniOutliner

Perhaps your excitement caused you to miss that...

Hi kingjr3

Certainly saw that, but I noted that it was simply a view on the standard US page. The fact that iLife appears as an 'other recommendation' when you press 'add to cart' made me suspicious nonetheless. This isn't a recommendation from the US shop (just tried it). I'll let you all know when it arrives!

I ordered a 20" Imac the morining of 1/12. As of that night my shipment date was the 18th. Tonight when I got home, I had an email from Apple saying my order has been shipped. The only bummer is that tracking number isn't working yet. Now all I need is the shippment notice from Crucial for my 1 gig os memory. :D

The tracking number is now working. It was picked up in SHANGHAI where I think it is sitting.

A different courier company handles the Shanghai part. You wont see an update until it reaches the courier who is actually delivering it to you..

Somthing like this

13 Jan 2006 17:57 Arnhem Hub Consignment Passed Through Transit Point
11 Jan 2006 18:31 Shanghai Shipped From Originating Depot
11 Jan 2006 18:26 Shanghai Consignment Received At Transit Point

Well lucky me...

Delay beyond our control

Now they're expecting my iMac to come on January 18th... Got a long day of work and midterms ahead of me on that day... :mad:

I feel like sending an e-mail demanding some compensation assuming I don't see a status change later today.

Of course, we don't have much leverage on them. The iMac did ship out in 3 days as expected. FedEx probably can't report in our packages because, as MacRumorUser stated, the courier in Shanghai is probably some local company.

Divers

My shipment is also in Alaska.
I was wondering if there is going to be any problems with drivers on the MacIntels. I have an Epson RX600 which is a scanner/printer. I guess the software for the scanner will be covered by Rosetta but dose anybody know anything about the drivers?

I got someone wanting to buy my 20" iMac G5 for $1,200 USD, and I'm not sure if I should sell it or not and get the Intel 20" iMac.
I'd just be a bit skeptical about a Rev A Intel iMac.
I see many of you have already ordered one... must have an answer for buyer this week...not enough time to try Mactel...
AGH!

I will order my iMac next week... Here in Finland the the shipping time is looong :( "Ready to ship: 4 Weeks" I hope it will ship sooner :)

Just recieved imac

I'm so happy, just recieved my 20", loaded with 2 gigs and 256 memory. I think i must have been the very first person to order online.

Initial thoughts,

Very snappy in everything, no delays, multitasking is great and yes does do high definition video with no problems. I guess the extra 128 meg video doesn't hurt.

ilife is fast, most others such as photoshop, illustrator are acceptable and feel a bit smoother but wouldn't say it's that much faster. Overall, I'm very happy with the performance and it will get better over time. The ati card is a wonderful addition and can't wait to test out the encoding.

cheers,

Well obviously it's not that fast. You're running things in emulation. Once the ball starts to roll on the PPC --> Intel software switchover, things will be much faster.

@ortuno2k - Your iMac G5 is still very fast. I don't really understand people who "need" to upgrade because the new system is faster. Of course it's faster.......it's a newer model. Its not like your system slowed down when the Intel iMac came out. If it was fast enough before, then it'll be fast enough today.

Have you connected any peripherals yet such as a printer or/and scanner?
If so are you using the drivers that came with the equipment or the printer driver that comes with Tiger? I'm a little concerned about the drivers running on the intel.

Also, is Rosetta seemless or is it like when you ran classic where it had to load in first?

Congrats on your new system. Mine is still sitting in Alaska.

Rosetta is pretty much seemless, programs just run. I really don't have any periperhals to attach so can't comment. I suspect they should work if they worked under G5.

you got an XP cd to pop in?

Need MCE 2005 or Vista. Xp on it's own doesn't have EFI support.

I have a copy of MCE 2005 that I'll try installing on a firewire drive when my macbook arrives. I just hope drivers aren't an issue... Then I can have a game of HalfLife 2 on my mac :D

thing is the EFI in macs probably do contain the CSM it's just a software component apple has no reason to remove it, i have heard reports that XP boots they just need to be verified, i know all about EFI.

also how is putting a CD in to see if it booting going to tarnish a mac in any way, also you could install XP on an external drive, heck you could partition an ipod to run it.
