Well, I finally did it. A long time PC user and I just plalced my order for my first Mac. I ordered the 20" iMac with 1GB of RAM and 256VRAM. It says that the estimated ship date is Feb 23rd and the delivery date is March 2nd. I am hoping that they can get it out sooner. I am really excited to be moving away from PCs and the continued headaches.
I ordered the exact same configuration - initially I got a ship date of Feb 20th (after sorting out an accessory that was holding up the order), but I got a surprise email this morning that said it has been dispatched!
Shipped from Cork, Ireland via TNT.

That is awesome. I just got word the my .Mac shipped today and I should receive it tomorrow. Of course it will be useless to me until the iMac arrives but it is still good news that they got to it before the initial estimate.

What was the hold up?

Just ordered a 20" iMac tonight... but it shows an expected ship is February 23rd, plus 8-12 business days for delivery =(

Anyone else get early shipments? Does delivery generally take this long?

I live in Canada (nova scotia) by the way....

The Mini DVI to DVI adaptor - which was showing as 3 Weeks wait on the UK store.
I'll just pick one up from the Apple Store.

I live in Southern Ontario and it took about 2 weeks to get here with Standard shipping. I ordered a stock 20" iMac on January 30 and it arrived on Feb 10.

Since it was stock it got shipped from Elk Grove, CA and then took about a week to get to Richmond, BC before it was shipped here.

Hope this helps.

meh....I just ordered an iMac Core Duo 2.0 Ghz on Saturday night, and now they bumped the MB Pro to 2.16 Ghz, I wonder if they will update the iMac's in the same fashion soon....makes me think about cancelling....

I doubt they will bump the speeds like the did with the MBPro. They probably got a projection from Intel back in Dec/Jan about the chips and the speeds. Intel in the recent weeks probably said, hey guess what, we made faster chips. In other words, the chips/specs weren't set in stone at MacWorld that is why they weren't set to ship until a month later.

I placed the order for my mom's 17" on friday, with express shipping. TheiMac was stock so it went quick, got to Calgary (canada) sunday, cleared customs monday and it's out on the truck somewhere as we speak... (or should I say type). So i should be seeing it today.
2 business days is pretty good considering the delivery date is tomorrow.

So, whens the last time an iMac was beaten by a Powerbook? Since I switched in 2002 I can't think of any. It could party be because of the whole G5 problem, but even when I first joined, I think they both had the option of having the G4 800mhz. They were usually even in power, til the iMac G5 came out. Now I am feeling a little weirded out that one of their desktop is being beaten by a laptop. I know its a pro laptop, but a desktop is a desktop. The current MacBook Pro wouldn't be what it is today without the innovations used in the last revisions of the iMac G5. Such as the built in iSight and frontrow.

I hope we see a 2.16 Ghz boost to the iMac soon, but then again I don't since I just bought a 2.0 Ghz iMac. lol....

I'm hoping that because the Core Duo processor is socketed that I'll be able to upgrade it myself in the future. So the slight speed bump doesn't concern me since it doesn't add up to a very big performance gain.

I've heard that thing is quite difficult to take apart, apart from putting it back together again.

Alright, my iMac was shipped today from Fremont, California. I ordered it as in my signature. Now I know alot of them were shipped from China...are they also being manufactured in California, or am I looking at a returned model? I fear dead pixels.

I have been using my 20" iMac for about a week now and just want to let potential buyers know that, unless your video demands are REALLY heavy, the 128MB of Vram is fine. I am using 2GB of RAM I installed myself, and I do recommend to anyone that they get the full 2GB load. If you can't wait for Apple, like I couldn't, just get it after-market and install it yourself.

These really are great machines, and so quiet comparted to my old P4 3.2 machine. A lovely experience. Glad to be back with the Mac.

Yay, finally my order status changed from "registered" to "awaiting delivery" and they even lotteried a delivery date of 23. Feb. for it (note: I didn't order from AppleStore)

Can't wait for next week's Thursday...

Bought my imac 20 inch on feburuary 9th. Estimated delivery was march 3rd. It shipped from china yesterday, and is in columbus, ohio today out for delivery!!!! I don't know if they bumped it up to next day shipping or what. I had the imac custimized with 1 gig of ram 500 gb hard drive 256 video. I can't figure out how they got it out so quickly, but I'm not complaining!!! Just my story.

My iMac should finally ship today... but still nothing happend :( I really hope that it will ship today, bacause I have waited 4 weeks!

Could my order ship this evening or night? time here in Finland is now 15:40...

See thats weird all of you guys waiting. The US Store when I ordered my iMac has a estimated wait of 5-7 days for shipping. I infact got a shipdate 9 business days out, and they actually shipped it in 2 days. And I got mine pimped out, 2 GB of RAM 256 VRAM, and shipped from Fremont, its why I think its a returned model. It's so going back if there are any dead pixels on it. I feel like the only guy that didn't get one shipped from China, and I want to know why.

I ordered mine on Sunday and it shipped yesterday from Fremont, CA. I hope that you are wrong and it is a brand spankin new model and not a returned unit. This will be my first Mac and it would be a shame if there were issues with it. Estimated arrival date is Tuesday the 21st. My fingers are crossed.

Today I got all excited because I checked my Apple tracking number and saw it was OUT FOR DELIVERY! (from Amsterdam; madness!) But it's now become apparent it's actually in Daventry at Flex Postal Hub. My estimated delivery reads 20/02/06 but it's got to be here in Yorkshire before then, surely?

Help.

I just ordered!

iMac 1.83 GHz 17", 1 GB RAM, 250 GB hard drive. This is my first Mac! I can't wait!

It is probably new. Obviously costs are brought down, when they can ship to you from within the U.S. Looks like they have had had some stock arrive in the U.S.

I hope you are right because I heard a lot about people returning units due to dead pixels. Still, the excitement is very high. :D
