so far it suck

So far the program is bad. In theory it looks good, and for the first couple seconds before it crashes, it sounds good too, but its got some serious problems. This app should not have been released in this state. I know I am not the only one.

Yep, cool idea, but way too many crashes.

I'll keep an eye out for updates, and keep it on the phone in the meantime, but it's not very usable as is...

good

been using for 30 minutes. no crashing. using 3g with latest firmware.

placed several calls on wifi and had IM sessions.

Worked Great!!!

20 minute call.

Very clear.

Made second call. Tried all keys. Mute button did hang this second call.

Only issue. Application is great. Far superior -- Far Far Far Superior to Fring.

No Comparison.

Love it.
:) :D ;)

There appears to be a bug in the software - to the end-users advantage. If you create a new Skype account, then login using the app you can make free calls. Well, that was my experience.

UPDATE: "Free calls bug" to landlines no longer working for me

I uninstalled Clippy and all is well now. Good find.

Cool. I will uninstall Skype. Rather have clippy than Skype anyway. Once 3.0 is properly released Clippy can go to hell - in the meantime I need it more than I need skype. :D

App crashes 40 seconds into a call like clock work. Reboot the phone and it changes nothing. Every 40 seconds into a call the audio messes up and the call crashes out.

Clean original iPhone 2.2.1 firmware.

Why does it take me to a pchome.com site that's in another language when I go to buy a subscription? Seems scammy, no?

It's crashing for me as well, the echo call started, then crashed and returned to home screen. Same with chat. And what's up with no handsfree option during a call?

Running 2.2 on a jailbroken iPhone with Zain/TNM.

yep, i was having problems with skype. anytime i would tap to login, it would crash the app. i decided to try uninstalling clippy and now skype works. hope that helps someone else! thanks @duffer for the idea!

I hate Skype since I think the design is pretty poor and the call quality is terrible, but for some reason I am excited for this app. I think it'll make some things much easier when calling abroad or calling home.

My hope is Skype gets serious about call quality. Video is nice and all, but if they are serious about taking on the phone companies and cracking the enterprise in a serious way, they need to get call quality up dramatically.

All things considered, this is a great addition to my iPhone.

Yep doesnt work for me on the 3.0 beta. Anytime I try to call a phone contact when I hit the call button the app crashes and returns me to home screen.

9to5mac is reporting that it does work (even on 3g!). I don't know if they're doing something different.

We are being charged a fee for data ... AT&T has had several years to prepare their network for all of this increased activity.

This just makes me wonder as we go forward into the future - let's assume AT&T doubles or triples the speed of the data network, increases the data fee and says you don't have to have voice service anymore ...

If I am at home, I can understand canceling my home landline and using Skype. But if I'm on a cell phone, LOL,
I already have a phone. (can someone please explain)

I just downloaded via iTunes, created account on iPhone and made a test call with my friend with no problems at all. No crashes. Call quality was great.

I agree that it's kind of silly. It's main function is to allow you to use your phone as a phone. There are plenty other places to chat for free (gmail chat).

But I also see how it could be very useful in some situations, i.e. free international calls w/ friends and family.

If we get a forward facing camera in the next iPhone this app will really take off!
