Official Smash Bros. Brawl Thread [SPOILERS!]

I mistyped; I meant to type Voice Chat, but I had been typing Co-op :)

Smash Bros Brawl already HAS co-op. You can go through the entire single player game with a friend tagging along (a la Sonic and Tails, the second person will follow if he gets dropped off the screen IIRC). Then there's two-player Event Matches where the players work together. I'd call that co-op.

And there's a "Team Battle"...I think that's a co-op online play. Mario Strikers Charged had co-op online play where two people on one Wii would fight two others on another Wii. I think Smash Bros has this too.

Hey now, I'm looking forward to many of the new features. Heck, I'm really looking forward to putting the beat down on all of you guys in online matches! In fact, I highly suggest that you all start preparing yourselves, now, for the feelings of defeat. Because that's all you'll experience when you face me. :D

I am all-powerful when it comes to Smash Bros and platformers. I beat Super Mario Bros: The Lost Levels when I was ten without using any warps, and today I enjoy playing Kaizo Mario World, because I'm sadistic like that.

Only Neo can beat Kaizo Mario World.

I had it on my DS Lite, Caroline asked me why I kept cursing at my DS and I told her about this romhack. She asked for a go. The room turned blue.

Ah yes, I remember going through the Lost Levels too at about that age. After going through it again a year ago, I honestly think I had an easier time of it when I was little!

As for Kaizo Mario World, I have a hard enough time watching it, much less playing it ;). I like Mario platformers that are in the Lost Levels range: tough, but not insane.

Actually, I find Lost Levels harder now than when I was ten too, but I thought I'd look silly if I admitted it :eek::D

That new trailer kicks a bit of bottom! That guy makes me laugh "think of it as a film trailer" :D

Bowser has a nifty looking gun! Wonder what that's all about. About 3/4 of the way through I had to tell myself "Jimmi boy, this is a fighting game". It is all very cinematic.
 
That was pretty amazing!

I love how they are giving the grouping of all the characters a story to show how they bind.
 
Here's a sad bit of news. It seems that Mega Man is unlikely to make an appearance. :(

That's too bad. He is the one third party character I really wanted - I've thought he would be great since the very first Smash Bros. for N64.

I guess it is possible he's just keeping it secret. (I can hang on to a tiny shred of hope for a few more weeks!)

Hmm, if that's considered newsworthy...I asked the Hudson CEO if Bomberman was in Smash Bros and he thought that would have been cool but Nintendo never spoke to them about it. I should put that in an article I suppose.

Oh no, I wasn't implying that YOU were posting something unnewsworthy, I was curious by the fact that the website you got it from was posting it as newsworthy. Don't mistake me! :)


The CoroCoro update came and went; they ended up just rehashing everything already announced on the Dojo.

something i just thought about...nintendo totally dropped the bomb on the current release date. it's scheduled to be out the same night as the grammy awards and right at valentine's day. i don't think people will think about fighting with the two soulmates of love colliding on the same week. i would think the release date should be pushed back one week to the week of the 17th, that way we don't have the awards or valentine's day stealing the game's thunder.

just a stupid rant. thoughts?
 
You watch the Grammys? I certainly don't ever consider them on any kind of radar. And are you trying to say that most gamers have girlfriends and lives. Valentines day is "Singles Awareness Day" for most gamers :)

I think of that line from Comic Book Guy on The Simpsons when seeing what the town believes to be the ghost of Lisa: "A g...g...girl!"

i don't watch the grammys, but i know that most of the entertainment business will be solely focused on that event, leaving brawl in the dust, especially with 50 years of grammys. no general media site will give room for brawl on that day, especially with music being generally higher up in the media food chain (speaking of generally). it could be like having your key event during the super bowl in a way.

also, most people would be too busy planning for the big valentine's day events that week to focus on fighting. so if i was nintendo, i would announce after new years that the release date will be pushed back one week so that brawl gets pretty much a week to itself in media hype instead of being overshadowed by the other two events.

or maybe this was nintendo's plan all along, compete against the grammys and end up stealing it's thunder...

They mention Knuckles...he's bound to be in the game. The question is whether he'll be a trophy, an assist trophy, or actually playable. I'm thinking Assist.
 
Yea! That song is fantastic. Sonic's final smash was agiven though.

I doubt it'll launch on Valentines day here. But with Caroline down at uni it won't be much a Valentines day for us anyroad :eek: oooh we're both going to love this game when it's eventually out.
