I hope not, that would be so weak. They'll definitely have unknown unlockables and hopefully some more 3rd party characters.

I turn my head for one second, and this thread has an additional 30 posts! :p

My random speculation is that the Japanese release will be on time, but they might take a few weeks longer to smooth out the localization. Frankly, another delay means more time for working without distraction;).

Random speculation also tells me that a lot of 3rd party characters will be unlockables.

Relax... it'll be fun, whenever it comes out. :)

Nah, not only has Nintendo's localization teams been working overtime on this game (just look at the Dojo and some of the statements from E3 07), but Smash Bros has never had a lot of text to translate.

I don't know. I just don't know. If the game is delayed again, I say we boycott it when the game does eventually get released. That'll teach em'. What say you guys? Do we all agree not to buy the game if there's another delay?

I don't know. I hope there are secret characters. Who could have guessed Game & Watch in the last game? I would be seriously disappointed if there are no more characters than what they already announced. In fact, that's one of my fears about this game.
 
Boycott a game because the developer took more time to refine it? Another delay for this game would make me more likely to buy it:D. I think there's a distinction to be made between a game that's delayed because the dev team can't get its act together, and a delay because the dev team wants to take a game to the next level. Given past performance, I'm apt to say it's the latter case here. There's a good chance this will be the last Smash Bros game that Sakurai directs... everyone is expecting a flawless performance and he's apparently not afraid to ask for time to fulfill that expectation. All hopes are for this to be a game that we will be playing for many years, perhaps as long as Melee (which I still enjoy after playing it for 3.5 years) if not longer. Personally, I'd rather wait a few months to make sure everything is spot-on. Surely we can all occupy/console ourselves in the meantime?:rolleyes:
 
Yea not getting a game because they took time to make it better isn't really a good call.

I ordered a copy... I'll probably have many copies in my vicinity on release day, but this'll be good for if/when I get a Wii of my own.

I always thought Nintendo and Apple were historically resistant to Wal-Mart's leverage.

And why would that be? Nintendo sees what they charge the retailer for the game. It's not like they will make any less money if Wal-Mart Sells the game for a loss.

This is a way to stick it to Wal-Mart, Nintendo could care less if the game is sold at a loss.

If Nintendo were a direct retailer I could see them being a bit torqued that this reduces traffic to their stores but since they don't sell games direct, any retail outlet that sells the game at a loss is no skin off of their back.

They are. Nintendo will not sell the game to Wal-Mart for any less than they sell it to Best Buy or Toys R Us, or Gamestop. However I don't think they have agreements in place to ensure that the game is sold for a certain price like Apple has been known to do. Mostly because Apple has an interest in people going to Apple stores or buying online since they might buy other Apple products not available at other retail outlets, so someone drastically undercutting Apple's own prices can hurt them in the accessory buying market.

This is most likely a mistake on Wal-Mart's part so the big question is will they honor it?

If anything it will help Nintendo. SSBB for everyone! More people online, more people to own!
 
Looks like it's been fixed... at least when you click on Pre-Order the price in your shopping cart is now $49.82....

I will now await the "we are cancelling your order" email....

They wont cancel it, they will ask you to confirm that it was an error and that you will be charged the full amount for it. If you don't confirm the new price then your order will be cancelled.

This has happened a few times on their site with the same results.

Same thing, either way they wont' give us the price.

That price was up for a good 8 hours or sumthin' there's no way they will honor it. But hey, here's to hoping.
