awfully buggy...mine crashed a few times and went into safe mode. tried to install lockinfo when this happened.

It's not the fault of the JB. The apps on cydia was built on iOS 3.0 so it is expected that some apps and hacks on Cydia won't work.

I just ran it. I just tested facetime and it worked, and my mms worked too

Reboot your phone and see if it's still there.

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I've missed cydia since upgrading to the iphone4!

Download failed on first try due to truncated file, hit retry and jailbroke properly. Opened up cydia, downloading packages..... got the "make my life easier" question - which you should all say YES to, so that you have your sh blobs on file for future jailbreaks.

Twice I lost my MMS on my 3GS both times restored to a fresh 4.0.1 restore then an immediate jailbreak. For now ill have to go back to 3.1.2 to pwn my phone and then upgrade to 4.0 via pwnage tool as I was before.

lockinfo states that it's been updated to iOS4...edit it works now

I think you need to do a restore from a backup prior to restarting your iPhone 4.

I lost facetime, still have MMS, but every time I restart the phone I get this screen and have to hit restart. Then I get the apple logo screen with some green lines up top and then it works normally...minus facetime.

What it looks like to me is that it’s similar to a Spirit JB. However, instead of losing the JB when powering off or rebooting, you lose MMS and FT.

Are Kirikae and Backgrounder supposed to work properly on 4.0.1?

Right now, whenever I try using Kirikae, it crashes into safemode. It also does this when I try the native OS 4 multi-tasking (double tap home button) In other words, I have no way to quick switch!

So what are the exact steps for jailbreaking a 3GS on 4.0? Do I just go to the site on my iPhone and just follow the instructions? Also, if I jailbreak, does that mean the phone has been unlocked as well? If not, how do I unlock it?

Getting a "Oops... File received was invalid."
Switched off wifi, and did from 3g, and it worked.


After a restore because it didnt install all the repo's.

I agree, lots of errors updating when first opening cydia. It may be because people are slamming the server Im wondering.

What if I only want to unlock the phone?

Do I have to jailbreak first and then download a different program, or is it possible to simply unlock my iPhone without adding any other software to it?

I'm on an iPhone 3GS, running 4.0.1
