iPad

Tried it from iPhone 4 and it is apparently working "downloading...this may take a while"

iPad is different though..it instantly restarts when I "slide to jailbreak" then when I go back to safari it goes back to the webpage I was on right before I went to jailbreakme.com Weird!!

Slick JB. I am all for it, as a developer I am not worried about piracy. All of my applications are free and ad-supported, If you are a developer I would suggest you figure out how to monetize free applications or get ready for some more piracy. Really all apple needs to do is update the way they secure their appstore apps.

Cheers and happy JB'ing everyone.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this VERY VERY bad?

Aren't we one step away from someone else being able to Jailbreak your phone against your will just by tricking you with a fake phishing website?

Could they perhap JB your phone and start doing who-knows-what and stealing your info before you really know what's going on?

I support the right of others to Jailbreak their own phones, but this sounds like a totally different direction to me.

For sure a security hole! Apple will have to patch it a ASAP.

Any idea why getting cache errors the first time cydia loads and then am being asked to update server files only to find none of the apps are compatible? I've tried, restored, and tried again with no avail.

It looks like this has been happening a lot to people on the 3G iPads. (I get the same error.) Are you on a 3G iPad?

4.0.1 or whatever it is you know what i mean

I guess it's too much to ask that people get the release they are referring to correct. It's not like you were called on a spelling or punctuation error.

windows mobile may not have the prettiest UI but at least it did not need to be hacked/jailbroken. you've paid for the hardware, you were able to install *whatever* you wished on YOUR device.
That was not always the case. Carriers could "software lock" the phone to prevent you from installing anything that they didn't sign.

you meen u r just seeing the clouds after you swipe to jailbreak?

I'm assuming hat when you visit the site on your iphone the slide is supposed to move to the right in order for the jailbreak to happen correct? If so, it's not moving.

How can this possible be safe? If this site is able to alter your iPhone to jailbreak it, how can you be sure they are not installing any number of other things on your iPhone? Just doesn't seem worth it for anything more than playing around with. Keeping sensitive data on a jailbroken iphone is just asking for trouble.

So basically iOS is wide open for spammer/hacks?

Looking at the source, this seems to download a PDF that runs the actual unlock/jailbreak code.

Although essentially nothing new, the thought that it is 'that' easy to get root-access to an iPhone/iPad is a bit scary
Sounds like the antenna problem is the least of Apple problem is this exploit gets in the hand of the regular spammers and similar evil minded...

I believe they could patch the hole after you complete the jailbreak. That's what the team did last time they used a browser exploit.

If this doesn't unlock the phone from AT&T, what ought to be my next step?

And should I install 4.0.1 before I jailbreak?

Sorry for the noob questions.

do you have java script enabled under your settings?
also make sure that pop up blocker is disabled and that you have a REALLY good internet connection (like sitting next to your wifi router)

then it should work..

Ok,

wait, I'm using my old iphone 3gs which cannot be used as a phone at this time because I have the iphone 4. Could it still work with the iphone 3gs? I am still able to get wifi so shouldn't it still work?

You will see 4.02 by the end of the week....
