If this doesn't unlock the phone from AT&T, what ought to be my next step?

And should I install 4.0.1 before I jailbreak?

Sorry for the noob questions.

It does help you unlock it. If you have 3GS just install Ultrasn0w. Presto. If you have iP4 in less than 36 hours Ultrasn0w will be updated to work with it. Enjoy!

I have a 3GS, new bootrom, on 4.0.1, on T-Mobile.

Every time I reset my phone, my cellular data settings reset (I lose internet and MMS).

I have tried the MMS fixes, etc., but none of them work. Has anyone had any luck fixing that problem?

Heh...enjoy the 'Blockbuster Video' app that the carrier puts on your Android phone that you can't remove. That's what being "open" is all about, apparently.

my unacquainted friend, i do not buy carrier subsidized phones. i pay in full and buy "unbranded" phones. that's freedom. thank you.

Do you realize this thread is about how to remove the restrictions from the iPhone?

and by quoting me you are saying ... ?? you don't like that i've said apples are restrictive? does that hurt your feelings sir? i humbly apologize.

Going into Cydia

At the top it says "This device has a pending TSS request"

Could someone elaborate on this ?

Thanks

It means your request for hashes for your device is still pending. In a few days it will say: "This device has SHSHs for the following iOS versions:..."

Unlocked?

Please correct me if I´m wrong as I´m not very familiar with all this JB stuff. It is one thing to jailbreak the iphone but another completely different thing to unlock it to use with other carriers, right?

I want so bad to buy an iphone in a US store (I´m actually in vacations in the USA) and then use the iphone in México.

I´m not even sure if I can just go to an Apple store and buy one without getting the ATT subscription.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this VERY VERY bad?

Aren't we one step away from someone else being able to Jailbreak your phone against your will just by tricking you with a fake phishing website?

Could they perhap JB your phone and start doing who-knows-what and stealing your info before you really know what's going on?

I support the right of others to Jailbreak their own phones, but this sounds like a totally different direction to me.

The guy that released it (comex) is known in the jailbreak community, so they wouldn't pull a stunt like that. Plus this is how the first jailbreaks were done back in the 1.x days. Nothing new.

Thank you! I'm in Haiti and desperate to have consistent (though slow) access to email when not in the office.

So should I update to 4.0.1 before jailbreaking? Or can I update after using jailbreakme.com?

I had been thinking of jailbreaking my iPhone (and iPad) for the first time ever (I want access to that file system), but there seems to be too many gotchas.

Trying now on iPhone 4. Been stuck on "downloading... this might take a while" for about 15 minutes. The download bar is full. Phone seems frozen. Anyone had this and got past it?

do you have java script enabled under your settings?
also make sure that pop up blocker is disabled and that you have a REALLY good internet connection (like sitting next to your wifi router)

then it should work..

Are you talking about doing this through my phone or through my mac?

I have zero experience with jail breaking. How do you remove the new Safari jailbreak if you have a warranty problem with your iPhone 4 or iPad?

Are you on 4.0? The difference between 4.0 & 4.0.1 is small, notice you indeed need an activated device to run this jailbreak.
