Hence the question some of us have: what?
LockScreenInfo sounds interesting/useful, but is it really so valuable that you'll give up Apple's updates & other "walled garden" benefits to achieve it? Tweaking the UI may be nice, but likewise not a big selling point. Tethering is great, but there's a reason it's blocked (wanna play in a crowded room, gotta follow the rules).
Don't get me wrong: totally open sounds great ... except for that little under-discussed issue of the costs (financial & practical). I'm seeing a lot of push for the means and not much appreciation of the ends. In the end, what's really so compelling?
I love the idea of Linux also: open, flexible, free, etc. ... but whenever I try it out (and as a SW engineer I can deal with a lot), it's just too much headache overhead to bother with given that, on the whole, paid by-the-rules systems work much better as tools for getting other jobs done.
OK, LockScreenInfo. Nifty. What else?
Fully agreed; at least I am glad these people represent less than 1% of Apple consumers, otherwise our favorite company wouldn't even be here nowadays.
Funny thing is: these JB-lovers will be the first ones to complain that Apple is not providing warranty for jailbroken devices when a BIG problem occurs.
And don't even get me started with Linux: what a horrible trainwreck in terms of UI, troubleshooting and overall software fragmentation.
