Hey

I have been following this thread for so long..

I ordered two from ohmac

Original at the $239 price for a 16Gb one and then another one later at the more expensive price.

I got worried like all of you that this was a scam so i cancelled my second 16GB purchase and just kept my original.

I notice a few people are getting them now so I thought I would join and say I ordered mine on the 20th.. so will let you know if it ever arrives.

billy,

did you contact him recently or have you just been waiting?

:(

did you get trackign details etc and can you post them please billy?

thanks

to be fair he may have a job and be working!!!

At the end of the day we are 5 weeks post-launch and, on this forum, we know of only 2 handsets that are said to have been delivered by Ohmac, one last week and one this morning.

Hardly impressive, unless perhaps there are dozens of happy customers playing with their new iPhones and too busy to post (or too afraid of becoming the latest victim of a witch-hunt, like Jason last week!). :D

Ohmac Come Up With The Goods

Ok, let the witch hunt begin!

I can confirm that I have also just taken delivery of my 8GB iphone from ohmac this afternoon. Hopefully I am not to much of a "newbie" on here for folk to believe me!)

I didn't want to say too much until I actually had it in my hands, lest I ended up looking like a proper idiot.

I mailed Ohmac yesterday morning and they confirmed they did indeed have some in stock, and would be sending them out ASAP. I then had a confirmation email from themselves which included an updated invoice with the handset serial number on it, and I also later on had a dispatch mail from paypal which included a Royal Mail Tracking Number.

The handset admittedly didn't make it to me by 1pm today (Royal Mails' fault) but it is here now and it all looks fine.

For those that have read any of my other posts, you may have noticed that I already have a "pukka" O2 iphone, so there doesn't seem much point posting pics of the handset as obviously they could easily be of my other phone.

When all is said and done, for me anyway, Ohmac have come up with the goods. They have been happy to answer all my queries along the way, and they always said it would be a few weeks after launch that the handsets would be available, and as far as I am concerned they are still within that timescale. A couple of my friends are also hopefully getting their handsets today and have tracking numbers etc. I will update on how that goes when I hear from them.

Not sure what else to add?

(I ordered on the 15th of June for those that are interested)

:)

I also recieved mine today!!! ordered on the 15th june too!

bigscotal did yours come sealed or open?

I spoke to Ohmac this morning and apparently he is only sending locked iphones to people who are happy to get a locked iphone!. Hence some people who ordered after me getting one. I have now said that I will accept locked and he said he will put me on the list.

Matt.

There was no cellophane wrapper on the box, as had been the case with my O2 handset, so I am assuming it had been opened.

In fairness they always said the box would require to be opened to allow them to activate the handset.

Yes, myself and my friends all contacted Ohmac and said we were happy to accept the handsets on O2.

I'll worry about unlocking it myself in due course.

:)

Congratulations!

There should be no witch hunt because you are well known from the original thread and people should accept what you say as you have always spoken up in a balanced and reasonable way.

I have to say that I am surprised that Ohmac have come up with the goods, especially at the original price and I don't mind being proved wrong on this score, but I still have my doubts about the 'legitimacy' of their stock.

Can you say what the production week of your handset is? It would be interesting to know if they have access to the latest production runs or whether it is 'older' stock.

Enjoy your O2 PAYG handset!

If you tell me how to check, I can have a look.

EDIT : Just had a quick look, it has the latest 2.0.1 firmware on it.

What about the thin plastic film that surrounds the phone inside, was that on, as mine looked like it had been re-applied?

i have a theory!

Plastic film was still on mine, and didn't look as if it had been removed.

They could easily just have unfastened it at the end to hook up a connector for 5 minutes though, in order to activate it.

Settings -> General -> About -> Serial Number

It's the 4th and 5th digits.

On mine (official O2 handset) the numbers are 2 and 8 so it is a week 28 production.

Going on that basis, it would make it a week 31 handset then.

could one of you take a pic of the invoice/paperwork that came with your iphones so we can spot the previous and future bullsh**ers?

It may well be that Ohmac have opened the boxes in order to Jailbreak the phones using the Pwnage tool so as to allow activation and use on the O2 network without an official O2 iPhone contract. A general software unlock is not yet available, but is bound to come.

On the original iPhone I was able to Jailbreak it (using an earlier method) so as to be able to use an O2 Simplicity Card (which at the time was hugely better value than an iPhone contract). Without the Jailbreak the phone would not work without an O2 iPhone contract.

Is it possible that as a certified apple technician, phil from ohmac actually repairs faulty 3g iphones for apple. he has a stock of parts that allow him to repair them and when phones come in that are beyond repair( or he lie's to apple about its condition), its easier for apple to send brand new ones out, so phil refurshishes them and sells them on to us?
That would account for the slow trickle of phones being sent out.

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I can do, but if I do I will be blanking out my address, handset serial number, order number etc.

I don't have time right now, but if folk think it will be of use, I can probably do it later?
