Is it possible that as a certified apple technician, phil from ohmac actually repairs faulty 3g iphones for apple. he has a stock of parts that allow him to repair them and when phones come in that are beyond repair( or he lie's to apple about its condition), its easier for apple to send brand new ones out, so phil refurshishes them and sells them on to us?
That would account for the slow trickle of phones being sent out.

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Well?

Has anyone tried their new iphones with one of those simcard adapters where you have to cut a tiny piece out of it? Here in Germany people say it would work with out using any pwnage tools.

To all the guys who got their phone today: Did you order the 8GB or the 16 GB version?

These are very recent iPhones.

Week 31 is the week commencing 28th of July, so these phones have been manufactured in the last 19 days, possible within the last fortnight.

There is no way that they are refurbished stock.

Only an idea, iphones ar flying off the shelves at the moment, you get one you take it home, its faulty, to take it straight back, it gets sent off.
It woudn't take long for them to fall into our hands.

Just something I have noted.

The Ohmac handset was set to "Never" screenlock, whereas out of the box my O2 handset was set to "2 minutes" originally.

Is switching the screenlock off not something folk would typically do prior to using Winpwn?

Also first time Forum user but I have watching for a while. Did not post before because of the slaughter of new users that took place!! I orderd my iphone on the 24th June. Spoke to Phil (OHMAC) today and he said "your iphone will be posted today". However I have recived no confirmation email from him. I also had to agree to take the phone locked to O2. Thought this may turn out to be a scam, but I think I was wrong!! :)

It is indeed something that is done prior to Jailbreaking or Unlocking.

Another point: This evening I exchanged a launch day iPhone 3G for a brand new one under warranty. The new one is week 31 like yours, but came with firmware 2.0 so it looks to me as if Phil may have upgraded you to 2.0.1 before dispatching the phone.

hi, i ordered end of June but was asking for a unlocked... wondering should i ask for a locked one and trust that unlocking tools will come ..and i am able to use em..never done before...

That is basically the decision that myself and my friends that also ordered had come to. We can worry about getting the handsets unlocked at some point in the future.

On a side note though, has anybody else that has received their handsets had a go at jailbreaking them yet?

Had a go yesterday, and am struggling with the "No Service" issue afterwards. Cydia etc all went on no probs, it's just the lack of service that is a bit of a bummer. :p

Restoring the handset from within itunes using the original 5B108.ipsw worked fine, and the handset gets service again and is not "deactivated".

Tried doing the custom ipsw with and without the "Activate" option selected in the custom tab in Winpwn, but no difference either way.

(And before anybody says I am daft for trying this, as the box had a label saying not to update or restore in itunes, I already have another O2 handset, so I am quite happy to use this one as a sort of guinea-pig for the time being, rather than risk my normal one)

:)

Got It!!

Just thought I would let you know I also recived my Iphone this morning (16/08). It works with my O2 PAYG sim card. It had a label over the box saying not to upgrade. All items inside had all there original rappings on them. I paid £159 for it, waited a while but hey no contract. :):):)

You guys get phones delivered on Saturday...nice, no postal services on Saturday here..... hey, if i ask mine to be delivered without unlocking, am i able to use the phone as ipod anyway, apps and all?

Ok, so it seems we have allot of posters now claiming to have received the iphone from ohmac. Just wondering, are non of you concerned about the supply source of these phones?

I mean the phones were sold in the UK without contract, surely this violates the agreement o2 have made with Apple to only sell the phone with contract. And how can a "certified apple technical coordinator" as ohmac claims to be, do this and get away with it. Something very fishy here. Surely this obliterates any notion of ohmac being Legit or having a legit source?

If I were in a buyer position I would be concerned about the serial of the phone being traced by the police and mobile company when they find the phone is without contract and in use.. or in use under someone else's contract.

If someone can post a legit legal and safe way ohmac has managed to get iphone 3G's and sell them without contract, violating Apples mobile agreement, then I would be interested to here. If you can't then you should be concerned about being in possession of the phone as it could be traced and logged by apple as stolen goods

Guys, do I really need to post photographic proof!. I have been on here since nearly day one!. All I can say is it looks like you have nothing to worry about. As for the source of the phones, well if I worried about where everything I had came from I would never use ebay!.

Matt

1) You did not buy from OHMAC so why are you commenting on this thread?

2) Why do you care where they came from it does not matter to you as you did not buy one?

You have a big chip on your shoulder becasue of your experiance with ishop uk. I am not going to post pictures because even that does not seem to satisfy you. My advise would be get over it and if you dont want a contract Iphone then buy from ebay or OHMAC.

1) Because I noticed others have started to, such as "CD"

2) It matters to me because I am interested in this subject and want to find out if ohmac is an authentic source or not, the fact of their legitimacy and source legitimacy should be of greater concern to you indeed.

I have no chips, money does not mean that much to me, and what I lost I was not that bothered by - You should not be offended by someone questioning the legitimacy of a site selling outside of uk official contract deals as it could seriously affect you. If the supply is logged as stolen or missing by apple, they could be traced by serial numbers.

after some persuasion this yesterday mine has arrived now too.

i am so chuffed i couldnt handle my ***** phone no more.

will post photos and delivery packet later (after i've finished playing)

ishopukisfake.

just buy one and be prepared to wait.

happy days:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

May I ask the lucky ones who already got their phones, in what country they are located? All in the UK, I assume? Here on the continent I still wait on mine :(
