Tried a couple of SATA drives attached to the SIL3124 4-way SATA card. Some work, some don't.
Conveniently, the SSD and the WD 1Tb work fine (both blank) but the one I have with 10.4 loaded on didn't, so couldn't find out if it was bootable. I have another SATA drive somewhere, with Mac OS X on (I forget which one) I'll dig that out soon and try again.

Anyone?
Please?
Tried swapping the card to another slot, no change.
Anyone?

I just wanted this so I could see what I was doing while I flashed an PC AGP card.

(a replacement Fire GL X3 card - might try re-flashing the earlier one as well, it can't hurt, can it?)
[doublepost=1456908318][/doublepost]Would this work?
Where could I get the drivers (for OS 10.5.8)?

I've ordered a cheap used USB 2 to VGA adapter (I hope it works on a mac) from eBay.

@oi!

No offense, but it might be a help to you to ask here before laying out money on parts. Buying stuff that won't work in your Mac can be a problem.

Just saying man. Sucks when that happens. ;)

Hmm, those mount points line up with nothing, and it's pretty think plus I'd have to cut holes in the base plate of this for the capacitors. Maybe this card wasn't ideal. But it was cheap!

Two pics that should have been posted here before, the outside of the unassembled cleaned fan unit...

It actually didn't fit, I needed to take around 1mm of the end of the card. I placed some sand paper on a wooden block and worked the card against it.

So I looked at my collection of cards, compared screw holes.
A few were the same at the lower hole, but none were even close at the upper hole.
I used to have a collection of old scrap cards, but I had a massive clear out a few years back.
Looking at the prices some old cards go for on eBay now, I really wish I'd kept them!

Plus many cards (video/graphics card particularly) use the socket screws to mount, not folded over tabs. Just like the Sapphire HD 3850, I kept the holes open for ventilation.

And yeah, I guess maybe I am a bit of a do it your selfer. :cool:

Now back on Hush puppy, I've swapped in a dual 867 CPU board.
I can confirm that a slow CPU board on a 166 mother board down clocks it to 133 Mhz.

Why?

Also my CPU temp is rising fast again, so I may well be shutting it down very shortly.

OK, I have a question to throw out there...

Could I have cooked my PSU?

I did run it with the PSU fans disconnected (accidentally), I wonder if that's caused damage?

Would a cooked PSU cause it to hang? Could it cause CPU's to overheat?
(more to investigate)

If your PSU is fried you won't have power. Period.

Highly doubt that that will work.
It didn't, I'll give it to a mate for their birthday. (they have a PC)
Oddly, although it was described as 'used' it was still sealed in it's original factory packaging.
