I'm currently on unlimited ATT with two lines.

I upgrade to the newest iPhone every year.

If I move to this mobile share plan, can someone explain how upgrading your phone works each year?

From my understanding if you upgrade on a mobile share plan you have to pay $40 additional each month??

I forgot to add I pay about $150/ month with FAN discount. Would I be better off with the 30GB mobile share plan? I believe I'll still pay $150/ month with this new mobile share plan. Can someone confirm or fill me in?

I'm sick of the throttling on my unlimited plan #

When do your contracts end? There is no way to pay the ETF's without canceling the lines.

2 end in 2 years (upgraded to new iPhones -- had no intention of switching to mobile share until these new plans were announced); 1 ends in a year. I'll pay considerably more if I can't get the $15/mo lines, so I guess I'll stick with my current plan.

Wow. This changes everything for me. Three iPhones in our family with two on unlimited data and one with 2 GB. I knew that my unlimited wasn't truly unlimited, but 5GB unlimited with the overage throttled (instead of being automatically hit with overage charges) still seemed like the better deal for me.

I just bought an iPhone 6 on a new 2-year commitment, and was debating returning it within the 14-day limit for either a 6+, or possibly even to switch to Verizon (to get a little better coverage in my area). But with this new plan pricing, I'm now thinking that I should un-do the 2-year commitment (hopefully the people at the local AT&T store can simplify that process), finance it via Next, and switch to one of these new plans.

The only other thing I'm wondering about is...how quickly will Verizon announce some new deals on their end?

Sure, here's how it will work for you:

No, only increases to $40 total (not additional).

If you have your own smartphone or are using NEXT then your monthly access charge for that smartphone is $15/mo.

If you get a subsidized upgrade then that $15 charge goes up by $25/mo to a total of $40/mo.

You would be looking at $225 for the 3 lines before discount and taxes on the 15gb msvp

You would have two options for contracts. The traditional two year or Next. Two year you would be paying $40 per line for the 24 months then once off contract it would got to $15 but if you upgrade every year then that is not the best solution. On the Next program the line would be $15 for the smartphone and you would be financing the phone over either 20 or 24 months. The benefit is that you only pay the taxes up front and you can upgrade after either 12 or 18 months.
I highly suggest the Next program if your on any plan 10gb or higher because you end up paying more for the device over 24 months on a two year contract.

I did the math on my plan and even though I would save some money staying with AT&T and this new offer. It still doesn't beat T-Mobile pricing. My family plan with 5 lines come about to $311 per month (before taxes) with the 15GB Pricing (30GB promotion) and 3 new iPhone 6+ on Next.

With T-Mobile I pay $273 per month (before taxes) with my line having unlimited data and the rest of my family having 4.5GB each. This includes 3 new iPhone 6+ on Jump.

Yeah... so bye bye AT&T. I've spent 6 years with them and gave them a lot of $$$$$. No more.

The only thing that sucks about 10 lines is that unless they just recently changed it, you can only do the 0% Next financing monthly payments on four of the lines. :(

I thought the same but I was able to get all 5 of our iPhone 6/6 Plus phones on Next plans. I called ATT about something else & asked about it & they said you can now get Next on all 10 lines.

AFAIK that's only for business lines... Unless there's news I haven't heard yet....

T-Mobile is the cheapest by far. I really want to switch especially since I spend 6 weeks per year vacationing overseas. This year my att bill for international data was $350.

Unfortunately T-Mobile lte is nowhere near finished being built out here.

I don't work in a office, and rely on my phone for my business. I absolutely need pristine coverage so the extra price is the cost of doing business for me.

I literally changed to a mobile share plan less than a week ago....will be heading in to my AT&T store to see about getting this deal

I'm not sure there are even pre-paid plans where you can get 7.5GB/unlimited talk/unlimited text for $72.50/month?
Cricket (AT&T subsidiary):
Pro $60 ($55 with auto-pay)
unlimited talk
unlimited text
unlimited data with 10GB at 4G LTE

Caveat, LTE is capped at 8Mbps and no tethering.

----------

These include unlimited talk, texting, and international texting. Additional phones are $15 a month, tablets $10 a month. It's a lot of money, but they are trying to entice all those 10gb customers to upgrade.
And in my case, it's working. :p

This is a good plan for those that have more than one line on their account. As a single line user I will never give up my unlimited data plan with AT&T.
I'm with you. The original iPhone was the catalyst that brought me to AT&T originally and the U/L data plan has kept me there.

Another thing I noticed is that they now allow up to 10 lines. It may be wise to consolidate your plans, and go for the 40 GB plan.
They have always allowed 10 lines for their Mobile Share plans. No doubt to entice subscribers to add tablets, etc to their plans.

Good deal compare to what I have now. I am currently in the 20GB plan for a family of 4 and we rarely get close to it. So that means I can go down to the "15GB" price tomorrow but I'll get 30GB. Saves me about $15 more per month.

What sucks is that the price per line went up. My family is thinking of getting iPhone 6 Plus when their contract expires next month (we aren't sure if we should use Next upgrade or not).

So hard to calculate right now if its better to stay with AT&T or go to T-Mobile for family of 5 lines. I bought the 6+ unlocked from Apple site for T-Mobile because we are thinking of switching to T-Mobile next month. I haven't activated my iPhone yet on my AT&T (Not sure if I can) while I wait for my contract to ends in Oct. then switch to T-Mobile and finally use my iPhone 6+. This is giving me a headache ugh.

If you are on 10 GB or higher mobile share value plan its ALWAYS cheaper to go NEXT than to do 2-year contract, I've explained this 100 different ways but this is the easiest formula to check.

With next you pay full retail ($649 for an iphone 6 16 gb for example) plus tax (7%) in FL so approx $695 total for device plus TAX

If you do a 2 year you pay 2 year cost, plus tax, plus $40 upgrade fee, PLUS $600 (over the course of 2 years because you pay $25 more per month x 24) $199 + $14 + $40 + $600= $853

NEXT total cost with tax =$695
2-Year total cost with tax=$853

Thanks OP for posting this!

Dumped my unlimited plan last week when I picked up the iPhone 6+ for AT&T NEXT 10GB family shared. I will move up to get 30GB now!

What portion of this new plan would our FAN discount go towards? Just the flat 130 for 30g shared correct? Not the monthly smartphone fee?

That's what I was told when I asked last Friday but the guy was more interested in trying to sell me Uverse and digital life than answering my questions about wireless service so I took it with a grain of salt.

So on contract. Vs. current.
This-
120/ month 3 phones
130/month shared data.
Total 250/month. + all the taxes etc.

I currently pay 160. Unlimited, 2 gb, 2 gb.
Unlimited text, 700 min w/rollover.
No deal here as we don't really go over on data.

How cheap is the 700 min portion of your bill? by my calculations you should be paying 190/month at least for what you have now.

Can someone explain to me how I would go about to switching to this, when I just signed a new contract about a week ago.

How would I go about it? Currently have 4 phones with unlimited data.
