Considering AT&T throttles over 5 gigs, I don't see people regretting. I have T-Mobile unlimited data and don't think I would switch to AT&T for this, even with a little savings and better coverage.

This is a good plan for those that have more than one line on their account. As a single line user I will never give up my unlimited data plan with AT&T.

I agree with you being a single line myself however, I am purchasing my iPhone 6 Plus with NEXT 12 month while still keeping my Unlimited at same time.

My plan will be NEXT 12 Month Upgrade with Grandfathered Unlimited vs the Mobile Share

To me, having 30GB would be like unlimited, because I don't even use 10GB in a month. I have in the past, but its not likely each month. With data usage increasing, one would be a fool not to hop on the 30GB plan. It's not like you'll be able to next year.

EDIT: I bet T-Mobile is starting to get nervous. AT&T has really been great this year with pricing. T-Mobile still has way less coverage and EDGE.

Ok att you win. Take my unlimited plan this is a better deal.

All you people loosing your unlimited data plans... how much you are going to regret it.

Switched this morning. This group pricing can't be beat. And to be able to add a tablet for $10 or another phone for $15 is awesome. I have four lines.

30GB is a lot of unthrottled bandwidth.

THIS OFFER IS GOOD FOR SINGLE LINES ALSO ON THE FAMILY SHARE

So i upgraded from the 10gb to 15gb plan yesterday in anticipation of getting the double data. Then i noticed this morning it said 2-10 lines the promotion is good for. So instead of just changing back to the 10gb i said screw it and called. No issue at all, she checked everything and added the double data :)

Not that i will use 30gb, but i do plan on adding 3 more lines later this year so this is great

exactly im on one by myself and sometime i use 9gb, but for a little more i can get tripe to bw to add my mom too would be fantastic.

You mean your 3-5GB data plan that gets throttled with Personal Hotspot disabled?

I just canceled my unlimited data plan I had with AT&T for years. It's a joke.

I've got two unlimited plans I've been holding onto. My wife stays at home/wifi 90 percent of the time. I'm the only one using roughly 6-8gb a month streaming music/howard stern at work. But the major drawback is the throttling to the unlimited plans. So after the 5gb is like I'm rocking a 2g connection on my iPhone.

The throttle isn't as bad as people make it seem. If you are using LTE, the throttle hits you back to the 2Mb/s range. If however you are at 3G speeds, then you are hit at 512Kb/s range. Not as hard as EDGE.

You do realize that the unlimited plans aren't unlimited at full speed, right? They're 5GB at LTE speeds, and then throttled to a very slow speed after that.

I previously commented that I would probably give up my unlimited plans for this, but I'm still going to mull it over. I previously was tempted to go with the 10GB plan, but while getting 30GB or more is great, it will require paying more than I'd like to. Hmm.

In any case, I'm curious to see if Verizon announces anything similar soon.

You do realize I've known that for a longer time than you right? Also, the cap bothers me not. I'd rather keep surfing than pay a cent over my $30/month. My main usage is streaming music, which at throttled speeds I can easily still achieve. Hell, even under throttled speeds I get a decent web surfing experience.

The throttling makes them useless. A 40gb pool would let me use a lot more data

That's what AT&T wants you to believe. There is a reason why AT&T is trying to pry them out of people's hands. They are so ever valuable. Just ask the iPad owners. An AT&T SIM with an unlimited data plan on there costs upwards of $1k now a days.

I gave up my unlimited plan years ago and regret nothing.

Go online and check your actual usage.

Anything over 5, they will throttle you anyway, and they will probably reduce that to 3 soon.

I never check my usage partly because I never have to worry about it. In fact, I never check it because I never break any caps. Hence, no need to check it. Reduce it? They increased it to 5GB just recently. When the throttling started anyone over 2GB was throttled. Then it went up to 3GB. Then I started seeing people go over 3.5GB and still be fine. Now its 5GB. Hmmm.... it seems your "reducing" theory is breaking apart.

I think you're forgetting that AT&T is one of the better companies for letting people keep plans/features after they're no longer offered. Aka unlimited, no matter how you upgrade, old carrier rate plans, old ATT rate plans etc. Even if something does change, ATT will let you keep these plans... Provided you follow the rules of it and do not move off of it willingly.

very much true.

Wait until the overages start coming in.

Agreed.

If you have family lines you wish to share data with makes sense. For me? No. I am on a single line. I would start overpaying. Many people here would overpay by switching to those "promotional plans".

Yes, you can keep your Unlimited data plan with NEXT 12 but did you do the math over 2 years. You end up paying the full price for the Iphone, instead of getting the approx $400 savings with 2yr contract route.

Iphone 6
NEXT 12 Plan $42.5 x 20 months = $850
2yr Contract $399 +40 activation Fee = $439.99

Must say I am also pretty pumped about adding a next gen ipad air on my account as well. I babysit from time to time and being able to stream Netflix in the car for the kids will be nice.

.

I've been throttled plenty. I'm lucky to get 512k even on LTE when throttled. No way in hell I get 2Mb

The only reason the iPad sims are valuable is because att doesn't throttle the iPad plans. The phone ones are useless for anything much more than 5GB, and you can't tether either.

The only reason I'm holding off right now is that it won't save me money unless I can get out of my contract status

I don't really know if there are 30gb plans but I can tell what I have. 400 minutes of calls, 1000 texts (never use them though) 2gb and unlimited minutes with one person of your choice. That costs 10 euros/month. You can add another 2gb by paying 15/month. It's enoug for me, as I never finish 400 minutes because most of my longer calls are free with my fiancé.
It just scares me there are 140bucks/month plans somewhere, that's all :)

US plans are for the most part ridiculous, I envy you. :(

Although you can get a 30 dollar unlimited for a couple carriers but they aren't guaranteed to have good service where you live.

I use the $30 prepaid T-Mobile plan with my unlocked 5S and I get unlimited text and unlimited data with a 5GB LTE cap then it throttles. The only downside is I only have 100 minutes a month but I don't talk on the phone that much and I can also use FaceTime audio or the free vonage app to call people and not use minutes.

How do you like that plan? It's very intriguing to me but I have a slightly irrational fear that they will drop it and I'll have to get a 50 dollar plan. I keep expecting the option to be gone every time I check their plans.

I like it a lot. Where I live I get good coverage and LTE about 90% of the places I go. Sometimes I have to go like 20 miles out of the city and I get EDGE. The LTE is usually 15+ Mbps. I have yet to go over my 5GB LTE. I use FaceTime audio to call people I know with iPhones to not use my minutes. If it's a landline or a person that doesn't have an iPhone I use a Vonage app which is free. When I call them it shows up as my number and it just uses VoIP and doesn't count against my minutes. It also works over cellular data. For $30 a month I can't really complain. Obviously coverage depends on where you live and where you travel.

Yes I am aware of that but in the meantime during the two years I can upgrade to a new iPhone with out being penalized after 12 months.Simply trade in the first one and continue paying off the 20 installments.
