How do you like that plan? It's very intriguing to me but I have a slightly irrational fear that they will drop it and I'll have to get a 50 dollar plan. I keep expecting the option to be gone every time I check their plans.

I like it a lot. Where I live I get good coverage and LTE about 90% of the places I go. Sometimes I have to go like 20 miles out of the city and I get EDGE. The LTE is usually 15+ Mbps. I have yet to go over my 5GB LTE. I use FaceTime audio to call people I know with iPhones to not use my minutes.

If you were happy with T-mobile coverage but needed more than just 100 minutes per month Target also has a plan through Brightspot mobile (T-mobile MVNO):

$35/mo ($29.08 after $25 gift card and 5% Red Card discount, see below)
- 300 min
- unlim text
- 3gb of data of 4G data (2G after)

In addition every 6 months you are with them you get a $25 target gift card which you can use towards your cellular plan, which combined with the Target Red Cards 5% off, effectively makes the monthly rate even cheaper than T-mobiles $30/mo plan.

I find this plan a bit more balanced and flexible as it's not so heavily swayed to one side (5GB) while pretty much neglecting the other (100 min) the way that T-mobiles does. Of course, if you don't talk at all and need 5GB instead of 3GB then T-mobiles is the better deal.

If I was on an individual line I would surely keep my unlimited data plan but since I am on a family plan with two unlimited data plan but we use around 5gb of data on each unlimited plan, I now will consider switching...decision decision

For those making or trying to make a decision when it comes to an unlimited plan... Please consider selling it out to someone else.

Don't kill your unlimited plans. Sell them on like the iPad ones. Don't let AT&T win

That's what AT&T wants you to believe. There is a reason why AT&T is trying to pry them out of people's hands. They are so ever valuable. Just ask the iPad owners. An AT&T SIM with an unlimited data plan on there costs upwards of $1k now a days.

Just curious does ATT even throttle the iPad unlimited data plans the way they do the iPhones?

Looks like I'd be paying MUCH more on this new plan. I've got an old grandfathered Family Plan for $59 ($49 after FAN) with 2 lines, one unlimited data at $30, the other non-unlimited at $25, plus $10 ($5 x 2) for texting. And I'm on a new 2 year contract since ordering two new iPhones last week.

I just logged in to change my plan and I am not seeing these options. How do I access them?

I believe u can't just sell the data plan. They need to take over your entire plan which may be an inconvenience for some.

Does anyone know if we get to to keep these rates, if after the promo period I wanted to add another line to the plan? It'll just be another 15/25 per month on top of whatever you were already paying?

You mean your 3-5GB data plan that gets throttled with Personal Hotspot disabled?

I just canceled my unlimited data plan I had with AT&T for years. It's a joke.

We had the grandfathered unlimited data plans, but dropped them years ago. No regrets. Things might be different for a solo user... but with a family, the mobile share plans are a much better deal.

We also stopped getting subsidized phones, as it is cheaper to buy them outright... or to get them on Next. All of our phones are either off contract... or unlocked purchased outright. Hence... they all get the $15/line rate. iPads are a flat $10 each.

So... with my 26% FAN, 10GB of data, unlimited talk, unlimited text, 2X iPhone 5S, 1 iPhone 6+, and 2X iPad Airs... my bill is $151 total.

We do not need more than 10GB (avg is under 5GB), but we really do not use our devices very often for media streaming. I am considering switching to the 15GB (doubled to 30GB) plan... just to change our usage to essentially enable unlimited media streaming. The plan is an extra $30/month, or $22.20 after FAN. Hence, my bill would raise to about $173.

They don't. I have an iPad unlimited data plan, and I go well over 5gb every month, and I'm never throttled. LTE is faster than my home wifi, so I leave wifi turned off on the iPad. (I've read elsewhere that they don't throttle the unlimited iPad data, so it's not just me that's getting lucky.) My iPad is jailbroken, and I've tethered my iPhone to it when the iPhone gets throttled, and I've never had any repercussions. I will definitely hold onto the iPad unlimited plan. :)

Hey java. I heard you have to give up your num. to do that. True?

Yes, it is true that to sell and save an unlimited data plan you have to loose the number.

Basically you do a transfer of billing responsibility to someone else. (That's free with AT&T) In other words, someone else agrees to take your phone number under their care (everything) and you loose the number. At that point you just open up a new line with a new number for the XYZ plan you want.

It is however the only way for someone to save those unlimited plans. That is the biggest inconvenience.

My wife and I are on unlimited. After 5GB it's basically useless, anyway. So I'm thinking we're going to switch, especially since we have 3 other people on our plan...

Maybe I'm a little bit stupid but I still don't get if this share plan thing would be better for me or not.

I have 2 iPhones both subsidized by a 2 year AT&T contract. I have the unlimited plan and my wife has 3 GB. We have unlimited texting and I think 500 min per month talk (the lowest since we use the phones mostly for surfing). I pay total $162 incl all taxes etc. Would switching to one of these plan be worth for me? I use less then 3 GB per month but like to have some buffer and that's why I never switched.

Can some explain the math to me in detail for these new share plan? How much do I pay per month and one-time? Somehow I don't get what I have to pay extra per line and what if I have 2 already subsidized phones. For me it's enough to update my and my wife's phone every 2 years.

Thanks for you help!

We just changed in a AT&T store today. We gave up our unlimited on 2 lines from 2007. Then our son had the 3gb plan. We had an old share 700 with rollover. Then we had a dummy upgrade $9.99 line to which I just closed out.

The first time I got throttled was just last month and went over by .2 gb.

My speeds while throttled were terrible, .48mbps down and .53mbps up.

Now we have the 30 shared gb plan and will use next 18 when we get our iphone 6+.

http://about.att.com/story/sign_up_...le_data_2_10_lines_starting_at_160_month.html

Att has now doubled their upper level data plans. 40 gb per month for $150 is a reasonable price for metered data. I will be switching and turning in my "unlimited" data that was capped at 5 gb.

The best part is my family will only use 10 gb or so so I can go hog wild on YouTube, FaceTime, hotspot, rdio extreme quality etc.

Never thought this day would come but alas.

Yep, switching to it now. :D

Guess I'm sticking with my unlimited plan. Since my parents only have a dumb phone my bill is only $90 with my discount. I don't think any of the share plans can beat that for me. As to throttleing I've used up to 8 gigs and wasn't throttled.

Wow thats an awesome deal. I am on the 10GB plan now and we don't really struggle to stay under it so I probably won't upgrade but my parents are on the 15GB and are always struggling to stay under it so ill pass it along.
Or, if you trust your parents to pay each month on time before the bill is due, if you were to add your parents to your account and go for the (25gb)edit: 30gb plan - 15 x 2, would that mean a lower per-line cost? Or, no difference?

It would be cheaper but they actually have a total of 5 people on their plan currently and I don't want to add everyone to my account.

Just switched. Was paying $270 a month (after 23% FAN discount), and now it's ~$175 after the same discount - 5 lines.

Thanks!

Or maybe you can pay for your parents lines? Just sayin.
