Yup, have them RUSH out the technology that's been around for 10 years. the technology that's been on every one of their phones forever, and whose network is handling MILLIONS of RIGHT NOW.

Sure, the BANDWIDTH of tiny photos will surely swamp their network.

talk about asinine.

I want MMS so I CAN SEE THE MMS SENT TO ME. it's that simple.

the MMS solution currently is like a fat kick in the nuts. if they don't want us to use MMS, they didn't need to slap us around with that current ******** system.

there are currently MANY MANY MANY MANY MANY times more "regular" phones than "email phones."

and i just want to see the goddam pics my girlfriend sends me. is that so wrong?

And when you can't get them because they blew up their network because you wanted it so badly that you complain about it, you have nobody to blame but yourself for wanting something right now, and not being PATIENT enough to get it to you when it is ready.

Learn some bloody patience.

Blow up what network? You talk like mms is a new thing to at&t? There's tons of phones they offer that have that now, and have had it for years. mms works just fine on their network.

It's a new thing going across iPhones across ATT's network, and something they've needed to work out. Am I saying it's new? no. Am I upset that it isn't available to ATT customers yet? yes. But no amount of whinging and throwing tantrums here is going to do any good about it or make it get here faster, as they will put it out there when they're good and ready to put it out. Like I said before, those always wanting instant gratification find it harder than hell to deal when they can't (or don't) get what they want: case in point, MMS.

You know, I'm patient and willing to wait for MMS support to come whenever it's done. It'd be nice if it was here now (seeing that it clearly works with so many people reporting success using it), but it's not.

One thing that has bothered me is all the people saying it will be coming "late summer." Scott Forstall clearly said the words "lateR this summer" at 57:00 into the WWDC Keynote.

In other words, "LATER this summer" does not equal "late summer."

Probably mincing words, gonna get yelled at, blah blah blah. Anyways, just wanted to point that out.

I saw this in yet another thread on why Verizon won't get the iPhone and whether you believe the poster or not, it does warrant merit, especially here, and nips the whole 'I want MMS now' bollocks in the bud.

Since I work for Best Buy Mobile, I get a lot of inside information on what is going on with the networks. I had a gentlemen come in who used to work for AT&T (Now works for a fiber company) tell me that the iPhone is essentially strangling the AT&T networks. He said that they are so strapped for bandwith, that tethering on the iPhone was either really far away or never happening. Our AT&T rep admitted to me that the delay in MMS was due to AT&T having to get more bandwith in all their towers to handle the new data load that MMS on the iPhone would bring. The guy that worked for the fiber company told me he has been putting new fiber into Verizon towers recently and they have a ridiculous amount of extra bandwith.

Bold for emphasis.

So I repeat: would you rather have it now, and bring the network down for everyone just to satisfy the "I want MMS NOW!" whinging, or wait until they're able to have the available bandwidth to support it, use it, and have it work consistently and stably?

If the latter, then have some patience; go read a book, do some stitching, pick up a guitar, or go outside and play. It will be ready when it's ready.

I don't know how true that is, but that's exactly what I'm thinking.

AT&T's network is supposedly pretty congested in some major metropolitan areas, and increasing the load w/iPhone MMS would probably not be a pretty sight. Yes, MMS is already being used by other phones, but any additional iPhone MMS traffic would probably increase the traffic by a boatload.

Frankly, I'd be surprised if AT&T can deliver "this summer". I'm thinking, "next year". However, I really don't know how hard it is for AT&T to add additional capacity, and so I'm really pulling wild guesses from places where the sun don't shine. :D

That may be what Apple said at the WWDC (i.e., lateR), but the AT&T website states late summer. That's where everyone is getting that from. Just a FYI. I'd have to look for the link, but that's what I remember when we were first talking about all this back in June. It doesn't matter anyway; we'll get it when we get it.

What is wrong with people here? Every day there's two new threads on MMS. AT&T said it'll be out this summer. Guess what? Summer isn't over yet. So how about you morons stop making threads on MMS until it is actually late?

Between the MMS threads and the Tethering threads - I have to wonder what all the fuss is about. Really. How many people actually, really require TETHERING? Please explain that one to me. MMS - again, another mundane, outdated, rinky dink technology. Email, Flicker, Youtube, Web - you know - all those things that are on your smart phone right there? Last time I got an MMS was on Verizon - 3 years ago. The quality is crap and why would I want crap quality? No thanks. Keep MMS. For the 100 or so people that still use it, well - here's to hoping!

Yeah yeah, there are people that want to get MMS on their phone. Cool - great. Just wait. If you NEED it that bad, switch out your phones.

However please - give it up already. It's becoming tragic at this point listening to all the moaning and whining. It's like asking for DOS back.
