Limitations in iPadOS mean I will not consider any new iPad above the Air. For me, there’s no reason to buy a device that’s more expensive than a MacBook Pro and can’t do as much. If others feel differently, fantastic. Go for it.
Also, I really don’t care about an OLED screen. I’ve spent a career in media - including television. I can recognize what OLED screens bring to the table. It’s just that I don’t think they’re worth the expense and burn-in issues. The truth is, I’m typing this on a 10th-generation base iPad right now. And the screen is fine.
What I’d like Apple to do is focus on weight reduction in iPads - particularly with the namesake Air. Currently, all iPads of the same approximate screen size are within a tenth of a pound of each other.
I’d also like Apple to improve the response time of iPad virtual keyboards. Currently, as with the very first iPads, the keyboard can’t quite keep up with one’s typing.
