Who the hell wants a 7s?
If it has 3 GB of RAM as is rumored, then I will upgrade from my 7 to a 7s Plus and will be happy with that for several years.
Who the hell wants a 7s?
The OLED phone will not be called the "8", it'll be "Edition" or "X" or "Pro" or some such. It is much more likely that the non-OLED phone will be the "7s" than that the OLED phone will be the "8". It's also possible they'll drop the numbering altogether. Please, Please, Please stop calling the non-OLED iPhones the 7s, it will not be called the 7s while the OLED is called the iPhone 8 if so then what do you call next years iPhones?
This is what happens when companies release a product, software, etc on a pre-set date, come hell or high water.a OLED iPhone for the past few years. Why would they not have their shipments in order.
Says the person who clearly knows more about the global supply chain than Tim Cook and the people who report to him.So because Apple scrambled with poor planning to find OLED suppliers the consumer has to pay the price for their shortsightedness by forking over a lot more money? Please.
If Apple couldn't secure enough OLED screens without bending over users on price then they should have waited another year.
Youre probably right. I'm sure Apple isn't as evil as I think. They just sell a LOT of phones! There are parts that they cannot get in large enough quantity (over 400,000 per day) in order to put them in the main line phones. And you're talking like the initial shortages are something they do on purpose for some nefarious reason - it's not like they slow down production - there's always a big spike in demand for something like an iPhone immediately after it's released. Say it's 3x demand for the first month. They have two choices: they can spend billions of dollars to have 3x the manufacturing capacity so everyone can get their new shiny the first week, and then have 2/3rds of that manufacturing capacity sit unused for much of the year; or, they can run existing production lines at their fullest possible capacity during that initial month or two and have there be some constrained supply issues.
Ya !! 2 extra payments and no launch phone. Or even worse expect make up payments if want. That is my concern as well! there are cycles for this exact reason
No it won't because 80% or more of buyers/upgraders won't even know it's missing until after they get the phone and start using it. The vast, vast majority of iPhone users pay no attention to "tech" sites that will discuss this type of info.Without Touch ID, the iPhone 8 will flop, BIG TIME !
The 7S? Last Christmas? I highly doubt that, since that phone won't be announced for a few more days.
You absolutely won't be getting two of the "8" for that price. They'll still be on two month backorder by Christmas. But the 7S should be in plentiful supply by then.
An almost unimaginable number of phones: 41 million last quarter, 78 million in Q1 - that averages out to around 6 phones a second, 24/7/365 (and the rate would have to be even higher if the plants aren't running every second of every day). That's, on average, over half a million completed, tested, boxed, iPhones a day, every day (even just physically carting that many phones away from the factories would be an enormous task). Which means, every necessary part has to arrive at that rate of about half a million a day. Every complex machining step (milling out the frame of the phone, etc.) has to happen at the rate of half a million a day. The OLED screens they want, at the quality and specifications they want, aren't available at that volume. I think that's a big part behind splitting the line, this year, into regular and super-deluxe-extra, so they can build the iPhone equivalent of a Ferrari, at, say, thousands a day, out of parts that are harder to get (and more expensive), along with still building a 7s at half-a-million a day.Youre probably right. I'm sure Apple isn't as evil as I think. They just sell a LOT of phones!
Oh, they're here already, and as excited as I am about 'Facial Recognition' in the upcoming iPhone8, I'm even more excited about a possible rumored 6.46-inch iPhone9, bezel-less of course. Decisions, decisions.....Can't wait for the iPhone 9 rumours once my iPhone 8 ships.
Going by the rumours, there's a good chance it will be over £1,000. No way I'd pay that for a phone, even though a phone is the most used item i'd own. I wouldn't even feel comfortable getting the 7S, knowing it was Apple's 'second-tier' phone and having waited 3 years since my last iPhone purchase. I've already got one eye on the Note 8 and if all the rumours on the price and design come to fruition, I'll feel comfortable switching over to the other side.
You’d switch to an inferior OS and lose all the Apple ecosystem integration to save $100? I don’t understand that at all.Going by the rumours, there's a good chance it will be over £1,000. When was the last time you saw a "buy one get one free" deal on Ferraris, or Rolexes? The 8 might be backordered this Xmas but eventually the promo will kick in. Probably less than 6 months after launch.
old rumor. this isn't news. tech crunch is failing.
Speaking of case makers, I wonder how many have cases ready to go to market, once the phones were officially announced. There could be a lot of people with a $1200+ naked phone and sweating apples, because they are worried about being naked and without protection (one is illegal in public while the other could land you some nasty electronic stds ).Ok, lets face it, Oct the earliest. Probably late Oct, with preorders starting Sept 20ish (whatever).
The writing is on the forum wall. Anyway, it will boost sales of the upgraded 7 models. So more hype, less rumors.
Boom time for case makers, who will sell tons of stuff that we have no idea will work or not.
* Can't fault iOS, but over recent years, I feel Android is on par, if not better than iOS and I need a change after 8 years of iPhone. It's Touchwiz that concerns me more than anything.
* Note 8 has the highest display brightness on record at 1200 nits, higher than any other phone that's been made. The iPhone 7 only has 625 nits in comparison, so i'm not sure how you've come to that conclusion.
* Camera performance based on reviews put the Note 8 on par with the iPhone 7. In fact, I think the Live Focus mode does a better job than the iPhone 7's Portrait mode.
* can't comment on battery life, but based on reviews the Note 8's battery performance lasts a full day which is good enough for me
* Yep, fingerprint sensor on the back is annoying, but its something I'm willing to compromise on. Compare that to the rumoured iPhone 8, there'll be no fingerprint sensor at all :/

A lot of people here are treating it like the 8/Edition is the only worthwhile phone that will be announced next week, and it's some sort of crime if the price is over $1000, since previous iPhones haven't been that expensive. But the whole point is, the 8/Edition isn't like previous iPhones. The 7s is the successor to the 7, the 8/Edition is a Ferrari, ogled by many, bought by few. Normal people (as opposed to us, people who hang out in the comment sections on tech rumors sites), are going to say, "Oh, the Edition looks nice - $1200? two month wait? uh, yeah, not for me, I'll get a 7s", just the way most normal people don't buy Ferraris, even if they think having one would be fun. I'm expecting to buy a 7s to replace my 6. It'll be way faster, have more memory, a better screen, better camera, better water resistance, and so on. And it'll sell for normal iPhone prices. In every way a fantastic upgrade. I'll definitely try out the Edition at the Apple Store, but I don't expect to buy one.

Why not delay the announcement until the 8 is available ?
That is not a good comparison unless you are willing to go from 256 GB to 64 GB. For an apples to apples comparison, it would be £900 vs £1200.The iPhone 7 plus tops out at over £900 so a £1000 is not that expensive compared, so stop with the "Oh my gosh it's going to be so expensive" rubbish.
I do not see the iPhone 8/x/edition being £1000. The only reason we keep hearing this figure is from so called analysts who could not analyse 6pm at 5:59pm.
So please stop accepting their **** as truth.
There is a reason this site is called Macrumours.
Still a little weird that normally the flagship would be the 7s, but they're also gonna introduce a bigger flagship product. And then I don't see how they call it the 8.
