Patience, kids. It's a week or two for a laptop you'll probably have for years.

FWIW, I ordered the 13" on 8/8 and still don't have even an estimated ship date. Yes, I'm checking my order status twice a day, but I'll patiently wait. Because without this discount, I wouldn't have even gone for a MacBook Air.

No issues so far with mine. Screen looks great, no dead pixels or light bleed issues, no clicking or creaking noises. I ran Apple Hardware test and no problems found, permissions are good, hard disk check was good, battery on first load cycle, serial number shows manufacture date in July 2011. The Toshiba SSD is dog slow but that's to be expected (just kidding).

I must say that I wasn't impressed with Amazon's packaging: the Air was in a tight fitting box with three air pouches along one side. Apple packs their laptops with spaces that give some room if the exterior boxed is damaged. Anyway, mine arrived fine. I hope everyone gets their's soon and in excellent shape.

I received a new work-provided 14" HP Core i5 last week, and I'm so much more impressed with the MBA. The HP i5 doesn't feel any faster than the Core 2 Duo that it replaced. The MBA screen is far superior to this HP. Of course, the HP is a heavy beast compared to the Air.

Wow, looks like I used my code right on time.

I ordered the 11" 128GB SSD on August 10th.

Originally, I got an estimated delivery date of September 7-20th, with 1 day shipping.

I got an update recently and i'm supposed to receive the Air on Monday.

Update: Received my Air today.

Yep. This laptop is like a prize that I've won. I definitely don't need it, I didn't even have any intent of buying it before this discount. Makes the wait easier, IMO.

Yep, I don't think I would have ordered my base 13 had I not seen this promotion. I knew I wanted to get one some day, but just not now. However, after seeing this promotion I couldn't pass it up.

I ordered on the 7th and still no updates

I ordered my MBA 2011 13/4/128 back on August 5th (with the Kindle discount) and it still shows delivery of August 30th - September 15th. Is that what everyone else is seeing for the 13 inch 128 gig hard drive?

That's what mine shows. Ordered it the 7th.

Base 13" ordered 8/6 in the morning, next day delivery. My ship date has never changed from Aug 30-Sept 19.

Ordered a 13/256 on 8/6 and while it shows an estimated delivery date of today (8/15), the unit has yet to ship.

I just checked with two different reps and that model is now out of stock with no estimated ETA. Gotta love the discount but this is lame. He did apply a $15 credit to my account for the trouble which I thought was rather interesting.

I think we'll get our ship dates around August 16th, because that was the date of some people's shipping date.

I dont know man I just need a date now this is rediculous...they were out of stock still they took orders..I am grateful to the discount however still this is bad way to do business

How is it a bad way? The site clearly states that they'll take orders and they'll ship when available. If there are none available, there are none to ship. Patience is a virtue.

The problem is that (at least in my case) they show an estimated delivery date of today. Seems they're not quite able to handle this mess...

Your case is different from the quoted post where he has not received a ship date yet. Maybe you'll get a surprise package in the mail today.

He's talking about the new coupon for textbooks. I sent him here, because I don't think many people in this thread will use them(unlike those annoying people begging for computer codes).

Reports on Slickdeals say Amazon is cracking down on traded/sold codes, even for the textbooks one. Amazon seems to be checking that the code matches a Kindle owned by the person making the purchase. YMMV.

But if the code was not applied and a customer was given the discount by a rep manually there is nothing amazon can do abt it ...I think so although they are the sellers and can bail out whenever they want but still

think that whoever is trying to get a macbook they should do it soon.... I called today using my friends code and the loophole worked but that was after 6 tries.... i ordered a macbook pro with the free shipping option so mine will be here by the 26th... but just try to do it quickly..... About the text books.... if you can just get a kindle its 114 from amazon... with no tax if your in the right state... its an investment...im even thinking about getting a kindle just because of the special offers. and the abilit to have unlimted 3g for 139...... i just cant pass that offer up.....so if you can get a kindle just get one.....
