I bet Amazon is loosing money on this deal and Apple is probably pissed that they are selling the new MBA at such low prices. You can get these from any Apple store and many Best Buy locations have them in stock at a slight discount. Amazon is such a retailer that I can't believe they are receiving no inventory from Apple. They seem to be just diverting supply else wear in hopes that people get fed up and switch to another computer. I had previously bought an 11/4/128 from Amazon which I never open and was planning to return for the 13. During one of my calls I asked about that order and the Amazon agent offered to apply the discount to the 11 inch. I prefer the 13 and would rather the larger screen.

I wouldn't be surprised if Amazon is delaying some of the orders since they were pretty quick to remove not only most MacBook Air/Pro models, but other more expensive PC models. I think that this was intended for PCs in the $350-$750 range (which is mostly what is left).

just got another $25 taken off of my order and got moved to free 2 day shipping because of the delays with the orders :D

new total for the 13/i5/256 is 1219.99!

don't know if a deal like this will every come around again! i don't mind waiting now!

. Because since the MacBooks were never listed on the actual landing page for the offer, it wouldn't be out of the question for them to close outstanding orders, send an e-mail apology, and offer a $15 credit for the inconvenience. Nobody wants that.

(BTW: I've checked twice today myself!)

Macbooks WERE listed on the original landing page. The email I got with the promo code still has the link that takes me to the page with Macbooks. The revised list did eliminate almost all of them.

It is possible that Amazon didn't intend for them to be on the original list and changed when they realized their mistake. That's just a guess. Amazon doesn't often make such mistakes and there was a similar frenzy with a previous Kindle coupon offer. That one was for 20% off on HDTVs. People were saving as much or more than we are with the Macbooks. Coupon codes were also being sold on eBay, just like this time. So, Amazon does have experience with large amounts off and Kindle coupons.

try again.. i got it on the sixth time... be nice... dont be rude and keep calling back, ask them to make an exception and just take the amount off the purchase if that doesnt work have the person call and order who registered the kindle on their account.

That's the thing. I don't have anyone who has a kindle registered under there account.

Ah I see sorry about this

Amazon Really Wants you to Cancel Your MBA Order.

I just called to check on my order that was supposed to be delivered on Aug 5 and is now delays past Aug 16. Several minutes later I received the following email. They are suggesting that I cancel my order for a $988 13" MBA and instead buy the same computer for $1,500 - $2,999 from a reseller.

"I've checked your order and can confirm Apple MacBook Air MC965LL/A 13.3-Inch Laptop (NEWEST VERSION) is now back-ordered. I'm sorry about this delay--we certainly didn't expect this would happen.

It looks like it will still take some time to get the Apple MacBook Air MC965LL/A 13.3-Inch Laptop (NEWEST VERSION). As soon as we receive more stock, we'll ship your order and send you an e-mail to let you know.

If you'd rather cancel your order, I understand. To cancel your order, go to the URL below and click the "Need to cancel an item?" button:

The Apple MacBook Air MC965LL/A 13.3-Inch Laptop (NEWEST VERSION) is available from another seller on our site. If you'd like to place a new order for Apple MacBook Air MC965LL/A 13.3-Inch Laptop (NEWEST VERSION) with a Marketplace seller after canceling the original order, go to the page below to see the offers available:"

13" 128 is now aug 30-sept 23 after the rep upgraded me to 1 day shipping free of charge, hopefully it's the aug 30 date and not the sept 23 date

That's just a canned response. You would get the same one if you questioned the delay on a $2 item. It would also point you to a 3rd party and give you the option to cancel.

Yeah I wouldn't buy into that. The marketplace sellers are overcharging. Being a marketplace seller myself, I don't like what I see. It's worth the wait for me for amazon to get me my laptop. Saved about 400 bucks compared to buying from apple :D

I betcha anything you'll have it before that, even. Amazon typically "goes long" with shipping estimates. Better to please you by shipping early than disappoint you by shipping late.

This chat rep says that there will be stock within a week!

My 13/256 ordered on Aug 5 said estimated delivery Aug 30 to Sept 15th.

It shipped August 11th and was delivered August 12th.

I think Amazon or Apple is purposely trying to delay shipments.
I know it's not how Amazon operates. Apple would likely be the one.
Apple is probably pissed that they are selling the new MBA at such low prices.
I agree.
Amazon is such a large retailer that I can't believe they are receiving no inventory from Apple. They seem to be just diverting supply else wear in hopes that people get fed up and switch to another computer.
Apple is the master at spin control, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if they weren't behind this. All but cutting off Amazon because Apple never endorses any discounts.

I ordered mine the first day of the special and got it the next day before 10am FedEx. But I'm sure that's because I'm a high volume, long time Amazon customer. I routinely get emails from them alerting me to the various specials I'd be interested in.

Amazon is one of the best companies I do business with.

Ordered my 13/i5/256 on August 6th. My status just changed from "Open Orders" to "Shipping Soon". However the estimated Delivery Date remained the same: Sept. 1 - September 15.

Is this a good sign? I hope!!!

$25 of textbooks

If anyone that has the special offer kindle and still has the offer for $25 off textbooks, I would be EXTREMELY grateful! I just was about to order my textbooks before I go back in a week and then I saw this. Thanks in advance to anyone that helps.

Oh and good luck with the MBA's! :)
