Thanks to the OP! I've been following this deal for a couple of weeks now. I was able to snag a promo code from my cousin's girlfriend just as the 13" base became unavailable from Amazon. I contemplated buying a 11" or even the 13"/256 but decided to wait instead. Then Amazon pulled all the Apple stuff from the eligible list. I thought it was over. However, this morning when the 13" base became available for ordering again, I chatted online with an Amazon rep and was able to get him to manually adjust the price. I'm not holding my breath but I'm also not in a huge rush.
I ordered mine at 9:45a 8/5. Yesterday, I got the price adjustment that saved me $18.00. Today, I chatted with another rep and he said that it was going to be shipping out soon (I had the free saver shipping option). He said that if I moved up to 1-day shipping for $28 extra, I would get it on Friday 8/26. I accepted so in the end, I'm paying $10 more than originally planned with the free saver shipping, but I'll have it Friday!
No shipping e-mail yet, but in my order status it does say shipping soon and the estimated delivery date is 8/26.

I ordered mine for i5/128 on 8/5 in the afternoon MST. Just chatted with the CS, he adjusted the price and gave me free upgrade to standard shipping. So the status changed to Shipping Soon and est delivery is 8/29.

Why were there so damned many 8/5 orders? My 11am 8/6 order's dates are unchanged, even though I check them every 5 minutes.

Can't wait for the computer. considered cancelling the order and just paying more to go to the apple store and have it now...but at this point, ive committed a lot to waiting so i will see i through.
Anyone have thoughts on the be.ez sleeve? i am looking for something pretty thin that can go in my messenger bag but still be able to take some bumps along my commute to work...nothing too bulky though as i got the air for a reason!

The 13/128 can be ordered from Amazon.com for $1213 now. They just agreed to change my 8/11 order for the 13/256 to the 13/128 and as a "one time exception" applied the code to the new order. I had to try twice, the first rep said I would have to pay full price for the new order. He also said my 256GB would ship September 7-20, I asked him if this was new information and he said yes but I suspect he just said it to make me feel better about being told no.

I went an bought a 13/128 at best buy to take with me on my vacation. Hopefully I can break even on it. Damn this deal blowing up! lol

Just enjoy your MBA for now and have a good vacation. I think the 13/128 will still be in good demand when you come back so you should get a fair price for it.

just got off the phone with a very nice CSR who upgraded my shipping and said that my card would be charged the cost of the computer on the day it gets assigned for shipping. hopefully the new lower price, we'll see about that. it's a good deal all ready, cheaper than the refurbs of the last gen on apple's website

I am not have my macbook air but I just found a sony nex-3 on clearance at target for $300 on sale from $600. I told myself I needed two purchase two things for my research this year, a macbook air and a SLR camera. Now I have both for less than the price of the air alone. I love good deals. Anyway this should keep me happy until I can get my macbook.
Just got my 11" Air in. I called Apple and asked about switching to the upgraded i7 model but they said I couldn't due to it not being bought from their store. Instead of attempting to go down and change their minds, I just went ahead and opened it. It's so AWESOME! No 100 mac gift card for me, but thats okay
