Your statement makes no sense. The facts are that AT&T has a faster and better 3G network. You can also take advantage of the iPhone 4's feature to do simultaneous voice/data while Verizon's handicapped network can't do it, and AT&T isn't capping speeds for anybody.

Verizon was all just a big over exaggerated hype. And for what? Slower 3G speeds? Capped speeds? Losing the ability to do simultaneous voice/data?

Face it buddy.

Face it buddy, AT&T doesn't work where I live so why would I get something where I have faster data when I cant use the phone 90% of the time?

Dont mind iphone3gs16gb, he's a useless poster.

Any way..... These are the same exact issues that happened when the iPhone 4 came out on AT&T. 3G speeds were horrible, people were saying AT&T capped upload speeds, and a bunch of other crap. Give it a little time and I'm sure the data speeds will improve, just as they did on AT&T

It truly is dependent on your location. With 3 bars of service, I average 1.5 down and .75 up. A coworker of mine on AT&T can't even get 1 down and his highest upload speed was .06.

Also, my phone loaded every website we tested twice as fast.

I understand the download speeds are slower than some AT&T iPhone's in the country, but my pages are loading in just a few seconds. My blackberry would take close to a minute to load many webpages. The iPhone is blowing away other smartphones on Verizons network.

Oh, and good luck trying to surf and talk at the same time.

:D I was giving my friend who's FIRST cell phone is the Droid a hard time about not being able to do voice and data. She claimed it could. I had her turn OFF her WiFi, call me, put me on speaker and then try and do a Google search. Imagine her surprise when it wouldn't work. She claimed again and again that it "worked before". After awhile of talking her through the inherent limitations of CDMA she recalled that she could use her GPS and still make calls. It was hilarious to watch her attempt to get apps to work while I sat there on speaker.
Silly VZW Android user...

HA! AT&T didn't lie in their commercials ya know, their data network is the fastest for 3G. Verizon may just be the solution to your *calling* problem if you had one.

Oh, and good luck trying to surf and talk at the same time.
This is getting old.

OP: 3G data is not going to suddenly improve on an iPhone. I'm not sure if you thought that it would but your best bet is to return it and go to AT&T if you're unhappy with the 3G data speeds. On AT&T you can talk and surf the web but then again depending upon your area, you may never need to try the feature since talking will be a non-event for you. ;)

I disagree, my 3G data was horrible the first couple weeks the Iphone was released on AT&T, and I know I'm not the only one. Now it works fine.

Your carrier's data is so slow...
That maybe they should consider monetary investment to improve the situation.

Damn, I can't believe I went there...

Do you even have any facts backing up your statement?

  • 3G speeds have remained as fast as always.
  • People weren't saying anything about capping speeds...
  • "Bunch of other crap"

AT&T people need to shut up and quit being a bunch of goons. AT&T isn't your family. Stop defending them like they are. I still don't get why the AT&T people on this forum take Verizon talk so personally. Like they're sexually violating a member of their family. It's freaking weird.

In any event, AT&T's speeds are probably consistently faster, but you will notice more disconnectivity with AT&T, whereas Verizon is a bit slower (in some places significantly slower), but you will mostly have a steady strong connection.

Where I live, I'm getting 1-2Mbps down with my Verizon iPhone (which IMO is more than enough to load basic everyday stuff like facebook, maps, etc -- unless you're downloading like movies), but I've read of people getting as low as 100-200Kbps

Yep, you got it Jessica.
Not many AT&T customers can talk at all:rolleyes:
Most of those 90 million consumers just use data and texts only.

Is this confirmed? You didn't put confirmed in ridiculously large and obscene font. Should I believe you AJ...should I...?

I'm averaging about 500 kbps here in San Jose.
Still rather have this with bars than the dropped calls with AT&T.

hearing lots of people report that when first receiving iphone 4 on AT&T the speeds were dismal. After w few weeks, speeds improved. I would take this bit of info over your guess any day.

You really have nothing to prove the speeds will never get better, other than your negative bitter perspective.

logic dictates a wait and see what happens approach is best before making a final judgment.

Just pick the carrier that works for you then get the phone you want. For me At&t is perfect. Our fights should be with Android and not with Verizon iPhone people

lol look at this kid, facts... I have personal experience of my 3g going slow as hell the first few weeks the iphone released. And yes people thought at&t were capping upload speeds becuase upload speeds went from very high, to a lot slower. Just please stop posting, you are one of the biggest FOLLOWERS in this forum. In every thread you spew stupid one liners and it's annoying

I just tested wifi and 3G, and:
19mbps down
1.6mbps up
900kbps down
500kbps up

I am pretty happy, and this is with three bars in my house.
