Disclaimer : This is a rant. If you love your machine, don't read, don't comment, don't troll (you know who you are).

Look at it. Look a those adapters.
It's ****.

It looks even more ridiculous with a USB stick on the "long" adapter. If you accept that or think it's ok in anyway, you'd be happy to buy a turd painted golden and labelled Apple.
Actually I'm sure the people happy with that idiotic situation would have been happy with anything regardless : identical set of port as for the 2015, no jack for the headphones, or even just two USB-c and nothing else.
Why do I mention this ? Well i think it's part of the problem. From the moment people are happy to buy literally ****ing anything, then you get crappy products like this one.

Not only it looks ugly and it's impractical, but it's infuriating too :
Since USB-C can be in either direction, it means that the adapter will also be in either directions, which means you have to do the "guess game" when plugging in your usb stick because maybe facing down is the right direction.
Ridiculous.

Battery is super weak, I still get 3h/3hour30 max of use. And that's with the non-intensive use. And yes, this time it's with the external screen not connected so no excuse.

Speaking of screen, quite oftenwhen the mac goes to sleep, to re-enable the display I have to turn on / off the display several time, and unplug it and replug it. like, 4-6 times. until somehow it works.
It's so annoying.

While I got used to the terrible keyboard, still when going back to a normal one I remember how much I miss my old keyboard.

Touchbar is in the way. I really waited to see if I'd use it and if it brings anything to the table, but more often than not it's buggy ( clicking on luminosity / sound icons don't do anything for instance) and I find the virtual buttons completely useless (like really, you're going to use those to confirm / cancel , rather than the enter key or tab / arrows ?! ), it's overall useless and in the way rather than bringing anything.

I hate not being able to plug my iPhone 7 to charge if I forgot my adapter at home. I ****ing hate it.

I hate I don't have a magsafe so I have to rely on a frankly ****** battery life when I'm in the living room because I have a dog and a toddler and they already almost took it down twice.

This adds to the other things I didn't like with this iteration: old processor, limited ram (granted I only need 16gb ... or do I ?), unimpressive screen and screen resolution, idiotic limitation on 4k due to adapter ...

With macOS crashing a couple of times last week, it looks like everything is pushing me to leave this and go for a Linux / Windows combo. And man, I really do not like Windows.

This maxed out 13" is a 4060$ piece of garbage, and I really don't recommend it to anyone.
Oh, it's pretty, so you can flatter your ego and display your wealth in coffee shops.

</rant>

Looks fine. More reading and less ranting might serve you better.

The 2016 15" isn't that much larger than the 2015 13" and only weighs .25 kgs more. It's actually .25 cm thinner too. It's only 3.56 cm wider and 2.18 cm deeper. Having that 15.4 display in such as small package is awesome!

Absolutely. I hesitated and then decided the maxed out 13" would be better, but I'm pretty sure for the same price I should have gone for the 15" option. Too late now, sucks to be me :)

yeah I explained above I didn't have much choice and just had to go for it, but regardless of that, it's still a disappointing machine. I mean, even if I wasn't owning it I would still think it's bad, you know ?

...so because you aren't American, you aren't capable of performing research and due diligence before investing your company's money?

@ardchoille50 's implication seemed to be that your geographic location should have nothing to do with your internet connection or self-control/patience issues.

Blame others and politics all you want; the blame here lies solely on you.

Ha, well, what I mean is that now that you have it, you'll be better served to read up on the issues and how to best deal with them. A thread like this won't help you much!

No it has everything to do with it. If you need a machine, relatively fast, you better order fast. I started my job 17/10, they tolerated me keeping my machine but I needed a machine fast, and ofc I thought it would be stupid to not tak ethe latest Apple has to offer. So you NEED toorder right away and STILL wait for a while.

Regardless, I can still rant that this machine is ****. Actually, even if I wasn't owning it, I could absolutely say so, so I'm not sure what you're trying to say apart from "sucks to be you" in which case I agree ! :)

Oooooooh of course. Sorry, I didn't get that !
Yes, I should, and I did. I haven't found any solution for the display, for the battery I'm not sure there is any solution at all. The ratio TDP battery capacity is bad, this translate to poor battery life no matter what.
I'll still try to find a solution for the display, but my guess is I shoul send the adapter back to Apple for reimbursement, and then get a Belkin (whenever it's released) and hope I don't get the issue anymore :-/

So you had the machine for weeks hoping it would turn into a prince, or something?
After a month you look at it and say to yourself: "It's still a laptop I don't like!'" .

Then again, everyone says "Give it time, it may grow on you". How can you not be confused. I know I am.

I like mine. I have a bunch of them, all USB-C.

Unlike thunderbolt 2, I really think this C thing is going to be everywhere.

Sorry to hear of your expenditure for something you don't like, but I have to admit that your photo actually makes the machine look ridiculously funny. It looks like a sick hospital patient with many tubes and connections. It looks as if it's on life support.

And yet, in the places where you're supposed to find the best informations, you still have the illuminated zombies who would adore whatever - and I mean whatever is thrown at them because of brand cult.
I mean I read there and elsewhere people defending the fact Apple didn't include the power extension cable. Let's pause for a second here and re-read that again : People defending not shipping the power extension cable. What. The. ****.
Whoa, whoa, whoa. I was perfectly fine just letting you go off about your misery, but you accusing people like me of being zombies because I agree with some of these Apple decisions on this iteration. **** ***. To use your words, let's pause and think about this a minute... it's an "extension" cable. As in, it is not required for power or for normal use of your laptop. And it is now an option and not included in the freebie pack. Extension cable... optional... I'll let you soak that one in. I don't use it so I have the unique perspective of this possibly making sense. You do use it, so everyone else is a zombie. Makes sense. $19 full retail price btw.

FWIW, work bought my MBP too. I did my entire transaction online at Apple.com. I did not take advantage of any American perks that we may have. If this MBP were as miserable for me as it is for you, I'm pretty sure I would have chucked it regardless of any hurdles or hurt feelings at work and found whatever worked. It is for employment and making money after all, and you use it EVERY DAY. Forget work niceties, use whatever the hell will make you happy on a daily basis! Your rant leads me to believe this MBP is the sole source of misery in your life. Life is too short to deal with that every day. Please get something else.

So you had the machine for weeks hoping it would turn into a prince, or something?
After a month you look at it and say to yourself: "It's still a laptop I don't like!'" .

:D:D:D I burst laughing, thanks !
So yes, something like this, or rather : "maybe I'll get used to eating this lemon" :)

Then again, everyone says "Give it time, it may grow on you". How can you not be confused. I know I am.

Exactly ! See Keyboard in particular. I was told I will get used to it and prefer it, but that's a lie. At one point you tolerate it, that's it. Adapters I didn't grow to tolerate them. It's awful.

The other thing is, I really kept an open mind for the Touch Bar. But really, it brings nothing but inconvenience.

I like mine. I have a bunch of them, all USB-C.

Unlike thunderbolt 2, I really think this C thing is going to be everywhere.

Let's hope, because otherwise it would look even MORE stupid ! :p

Lots of constructive discussion here about the battery life and various things that affect it. The other issue appears to be hardware, as you recognize. Good luck!

So your issue with the USB-C ports is that they work both ways, and when you plug in a dongle to use an old USB-A device you don't know which orientation it is as it can be both ways.

So? Your issue here seems to be with USB-A ports that aren't reversible? As others have said just get a dock and you'll get all that freedom you so crave... Other issues just seem ranty and odd that you feel the need to express them with such anger.

I mean why did you even buy the thing in the first place? Surely you knew about issues you might experience before purchase, surely your old laptop was perfectly fine, but you brought the new one why? Just to hate it?

Dude, if you're the multi billion dollars company making the highest margins in the industry by peddling outdated hardware on your user and charging top dollars, you do not remove this for any kind of practical / logical reason.

And no, I don't want to pay an extra 20 dollars on top of what is already an overpriced machine with overpriced adapters, and I don't want to receive and pick a separate package and all this ****.

There was no hurt in including this extension cable. I'm pretty sure most of the people need it. Those things are used in hotels rooms, living rooms, conferences, meeting room, where outlets are far.
This is a ****** decision motivated by greed only and you have to be a tool to be ok with that ! :p

lol let's slow down on the hyperbole a bit :) There are (sadly) worse things in life, and any (and I mean any) sort of problems on this forum is very much first world problem.
That's why you're ranting on a forum about them !

You seems to not get it maybe ? When I had a normal USB port on the side on my mac, I would know which part is "top" : obvious on a USB key, kinda obvious on my external drives too based on their orientation.

But the adapter (which is required because you know, there's only USB-C ) can be inserted up or down. You can't see which way unless you pay close attention. Then it means you might try to insert your USB stick the wrong way (the right way being flipped).

I mean why did you even buy the thing in the first place? Surely you knew about issues you might experience before purchase, surely your old laptop was perfectly fine, but you brought the new one why? Just to hate it?

Answered 4 or 5 times in the previous posts.

Official adapter has a little symbol on it to tell orientation. Or buy one of those mini ones and leave it plugged in. None-problem sorted! Even better, just buy a USB-C device.

You're in finance I thought I read. This decision doesn't make any sense? We are tools for thinking so. Your hyperbole is much better... Apple is a greedy company that makes no sensical decisions and has grown to be the most valuable company in the world despite their idiocy.

I get that you're upset, and that's warranted given your perspective. Do what any rational big boy would do and use a different computer. Then come back and tell everyone why it's so much better than your s**t MBP 16. Your life will be better, and we can still have the honor of hearing you bitch about the MBP 16. Win, win.

Good god man. The first sentence of his post reads:

So instead of being kind of a jerk to the OP for sharing his opinion, why don't you roll it back abit and be nice?

I have no idea why you thought that was an appropriate thing to post.......

Because it's funny. Laura Mayer is the best poster on the entire forum. Her/His sense of irony is the best.

Disclaimer: This is a response to your rant.

You hate it. Ok.

I don't care if you just dislike the computer or cry yourself to sleep over it. I don't care if you think it's ugly. I don't care that you ran out and bought a maxed out version of a computer to realize you don't like the keyboard. I don't care whether you made up that story that you had to replug it just to wake it from sleep (first time I've heard of anything like that) or whether it really happens but you are not realizing you have a faulty unit and are not willing to take it for service. I also don't care you don't know which was the latest 28W CPU at the time you bought it, and think it's an old CPU because you're not informed. I don't care that you can buy a $4000 computer and are not willing to buy a $10 cable for your iPhone 7, and would rather pretend that you cannot charge it on your MBP instead (hint: you can). I don't even care about the fact that somehow.... somehow the fact that USB-C is reversible bothers you because.... you can plug in the adapter in any direction. Instead of just attaching it to the cable first, and then plugging it in any way you want - you do your hateful scenario where this becomes an issue. Whatever. You hate everything about the expensive computer you bought so you're venting. Magsafe, keyboard, all the usual stuff, we get it, fine.

And if your venting was all that you wrote - I wouldn't bother responding. When I say I don't care, I really mean it - I just don't care. It's your right to vent out, write how you hate it, do whatever you want.

But then you start talking about the people who bought it and like it. And then the insults start. "People will buy any crap so they can flatter their ego and show their wealth in coffee shops."

I am not wealthy. My needs are simple. I do not carry my computer to coffee shops. I did not spend $4K on it. I work 12-16 hours a day, and my computers pay themselves off. I don't buy any crap - I do my research. You, sir, are insulting people. You insulted me, and probably a lot of other people. So I'll tell you this: you have some nerve.
[doublepost=1484364169][/doublepost]
So instead of being kind of a jerk to the OP for sharing his opinion, why don't you roll it back abit and be nice?

And I suppose when the OP said this:

Oh, it's pretty, so you can flatter your ego and display your wealth in coffee shops.

He was "just sharing his opinion"? So, when he accuses a bunch of people of flaunting their wealth in coffee shops and flattering their egos that is.... what? A polite expression of his views?

As I said above: the nerve on some people.

As I said above: the nerve on some people.

This OP has been ranting for weeks, what a huge effort, makes me curious, most curious. Not sure what this is all about, but it goes on and on and on and on, look at these threads by the OP, just massive amounts of highly invested negativity, gee give it a rest, its getting so, so old.

One month after, it's still a terrible machine.

Everything I feared, and more. And some good.

So much anger and bitterness here and everywhere. Why ?

Take the damn thing back, sell it, learn to play piano, write a book, something else, you're driving me and a lot of posters on the forum crazy man! You're just no fun at all . .

It's ****

I decided to devote this beautiful Saturday morning to show you my USB-C solution. I wrote that you exaggerate your problem - you wrote back it is bull***t.

It seem to me that you are a young, educated person (with IT background) but somehow get confused in this fast-paced times (yes, I am joking). I thought that young are ahead of everything, obviously now you have to be given everything on a silver platter.

From picture of your setup it seem that you are using external HDD (BTW: you hook it all the time? USB 3 only with full spec laptop? - see my tip below), HDMI 60 Hz monitor (you have DP port too see my tip no 2) and some other USB-A peripherals. To solve your 'problem' you need one adapter (in old mac too) + cable USB-X to USB-C (Amazon they sell it for 3-6 $) + small USB-A-to-USB-C adapter ($3 at Amazon).

In picture you see my 'USB crisis' setup: Dell DA200 + Unitek USB-A-USB-C adapter + generic cable USB-B to USB-C - that's it. For your convenience I have annotated picture, so you don't get confused (again). Total cost of this setup: whopping 80$ (but hey you just spent $4000 you can afford it). I have to hook to projectors (VGA or HDMI) so I get Dell DA200 but you will find plenty better solutions in internet (just google). For anything else: see my tip no 3.

Cheers!

solution for USB problem for dummies.JPG

Tips:
1. Buy yourself for birthday (good for mood) 1TB SSD + USB-C enclosure (I have Crucial SSD + Unitek) - it will be wayyyyy faster than your old Seagate HDD (in your picture). It is not expensive too. Sell some extra dongles you bought without thinking.
2. If you have real problems with connecting via HDMI try other port. Your monitor should have more ports - from your picture I see Display Port. Don't buy dongle - don't be d**b and buy cable for god sake (you know USB-C on one side DP on the other), for your convenience (before you get confused again): http://www.j5create.com/our-products/usb-type-c-adapter/jca141.html
4K HDMI to USB-C cable: https://www.amazon.de/CHOETECH-Thun...1484383154&sr=8-15&keywords=usb-c+displayport
3. Go out, meditate and control your anger. Be positive. Squeeze this ball hard before you post. Breathe.

The only positive and constructive thing to come out of this teenage journal entry of a thread is that it exemplifies how the majority of posters on here are patient, rational and decent people who contribute advice without so much as a thank you from the OP.

Every time the OP posts I envisage a bratty kid screaming for chocolate down the checkout isle whilst his mum tries to placate him with fruit. Kudos to you all for being mum!

The common denominator when this sort of poster whinges endlessly is that the poster has typically not done any/all of the following:

1. Researched properly before buying
2. Researched how to efficiently and cheaply get around dongle hysteria (which would have been discoverable at (1))
3. Utilised the returns policy despite having a plethora of complaints

OP is ultimately mad at himself for all three of the above and yet feels justified for criticising anyone who disagrees with his views which in a nutshell is quite simply - laptop me no like.
