note,
I said ‘it makes no difference who owns the channel’.
You said ‘of course it does, don’t be so stupid’.
But as I said, Channel Four is government owned and has adverts.
And when you add the rest of the quote in context it all makes sense. Not my fault you have a comprehension problem.

“Of course it does, don’t be so stupid. Unless it’s owned by the British government/general public, then it’s privatized.”

It already is privatized you think they run adverts because we all love to watch them? The British public don’t own ITV as just one example: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/ITV_(TV_network)
This is what you said.
In response I said, Channel Four is an example of British TV that is publicly owned and funded by adverts.
I was just stating that insinuating otherwise, as you did, is incorrect.

I believe the Final is also with ITV not BBC but yeah BBC UHD is AMAZING!!!!
I don't think you can watch UHD via Apple TV iPlayer app though... you have to use your TV iPlayer app instead.
The Euro 2020 final is on the BBC and ITV. They buy the rights to the tournament jointly but the final is the only one they both show

This is what you said.

Yeah that is what I said, ITV, read!

I'll be watching the final on BBC iPlayer in all its 4K/UHD and HDR goodness. Unfortunately, the UHD/HDR stream from BBC iPlayer isn't supported on the Apple TV (even the new 4K gen 2 model - I know, because I've got one) so I'll be using the iPlayer app built in to my 2017 LG OLED. Yes, a 4-year old TV has a better experience than brand new Apple hardware that came out in May.

To be fair to Apple, the problem may be the BBC's. But to be fair to the BBC, the problem may be Apple. Who knows?! Annoying whoever's fault it is. I contacted BBC iPlayer support a few weeks ago to ask them why UHD isn't available on the Apple TV and am yet to receive a reply.

Anyway, that was very slightly off topic. The experience of people with ITV Hub during the last night's game shows that we're probably not quite ready to ditch traditional TV viewing just yet. My satellite dish had rusted so much that it stopped working recently but I was able to buy a new one and redo the cabling for under £30 so it's a no brainer for me. I can keep watching content on Freesat (and skipping adverts on ITV) but jump to streaming for things like 4K content. Best of both worlds.
My understanding is that it’s down to hardware’s support for HLG which is how the BBC stream 4K

Yeah that is what I said, ITV, read!
I can read. Learn to articulate yourself.

“It already is privatized you think they run adverts because we all love to watch them”

“Channel four is not privatised and runs adverts”

BBC HD on Sky seems bad compared to Sky Sports and BT Sport.

Is BBC any better or a higher resolution via iPlayer?
You need to go through BBC iPlayer on your 4K TV’s app not Sky Q. The BBC iPlayer app there doesn’t support 4K but on your television it will do. Or channel 101 on Freeview

“It’s already privatized” the thread is about ITV…. Does that simple fact register in your brain, or no? Second quote is you not me.

Obviously the second quote is me. I’m not sure you understand how a forum conversation works.

I know what the thread is about. I know it’s about itv. I know it’s private (it was never public by the way).

The op you responded to was referring - in an off the cuff manner - to the ongoing row in the UK about privatising Channel Four.

Your response insinuated that itv run adverts because they’re privatised. this is not true. Channel Four - one of the 4 original terrestrial UK channels, is government owned and yet runs adverts, and always has.

If you didn’t mean to insinuate that, then as I say, learn to articulate yourself better.

You are the only person to mention channel 4 - you are on your own wavelength. Maybe there is something I’m not aware of, but don’t bring it to a thread about ITV - it’s not relevant and that goes to the other person too.

In a thread regarding UK TV it is fairly relevant actually, when opening the conversation up a little from the click bait thread title. The privatisation of channel four is big the news, and we only have a few terrestrial channels let alone non commercial channels. It’s hugely controversial.
You’re ‘from the UK’, as you mentioned, so I’m sure you can appreciate that.

It’s about ITV, stop trying to deflect.

“The technical problems, first reported on by iMore, affected viewers using the ITV Hub app for the Apple TV. According to ITV, the match was watched by as many as 27.6 million people, making it one of the most-watched moments in the UK since the London 2012 Olympics.”

it was only aired on ITV.

No deflection of anything on my part. As I said I understand what the thread is about. I was purely correcting your incorrect assumption regarding advertising only being related to privately owned broadcasters. Channel Four was merely my example of such. It’s ok to be wrong on occasion, just suck it up and move on.

Did you find that block button yet? Use it please, as you said you would. This is getting tiring.

We are talking purely about ITV, you are the only troll talking about channel 4, therefore my posts are correct. Later troll.

You may disagree with Cupcakes, even vehemently so. That’s fair game. But just an FYI, he or she isn’t a troll. There’s definitely lots of trolls but that’s not the case here.

By the very definition they are indeed a troll: “a troll is a person who posts…. off-topic messages in an online community (such as a newsgroup, forum, chat room, or blog)”
I have explained myself clearly - correcting an incorrect assumption which you claimed. It’s on topic to the thread, albeit vaguely, but it’s irrelevant as I was responding to your incorrect claim within the thread. It’s certainly not trolling, though at this point however, you’re trolling me somewhat.

No, you read something the way you wanted to read it, despite plain English and decided to go down a troll hole. I’ve said bye to you three times now, and you keep replying and yet claim I’m trolling you. Fourth time - GOODBYE.

One persons plain English is another persons garbled nonsense. Even with that in mind what you wrote was clear in its assumption, and I merely wrote a reply politely stating that the assumption you made was wrong. Calling me stupid upon the back of that is on you. Rewriting and editing posts after the fact, is on you. Continuing it even after you clearly said you planned on blocking me, is on you. Calling me a troll is on you.
But now I finally agree - I digress.

Pro tip- you don’t need to say goodbye my friend, even if it is the fourth time. This is a random Internet forum, you can just leave the conversation as you started it, without the pleasantries.

It’s pretty clear, you can’t read.

“Of course it does, don’t be so stupid. Unless it’s owned by the British government/general public, then it’s privatized.”

edit: all my edits are marked as such, again posting troll crap.

Yep this was a pain, ended up watching it on my iPad...

Honestly BBC is superior, so I was very disappointed to see ITV was covering the game. Luckily the final is covered on BBC, for UHD goodness.
Have you tried watching anything like Line of Duty live on iPlayer for AppleTV? You get the wrong show altogether - even though it’s advertised! These streaming apps in the UK on AppleTV are way behind counterparts on other devices. Apple need to do something about it.
