Well I think we're not far off not needing a notch. Already we have fingerprint sensors integrated in the same area as the screen. We've seen cameras that can pop up from within the phone so you don't need to reserve a space on the front for it. What needs to be solved (maybe it has already?) is having the other sensors in with the screen and where to put the earpiece so it works effectively... if that's possible then you don't really need a notch. In retrospect, I think notch is a good design. Yes, it looks funky in landscape. But you are gaining extra display area. And at least on Android, the display area around the notch can be turned off.
I suspect in few years, a majority of the phones will have a notch (unless they can make camera and other sensors much smaller or place them behind the screen).
Still one of the stupidest decisions Apple has made-along with getting rid of Magsafe.
“Bring your sh** together Apple” — winter 2017.Apple make up your mind whether you want everything to be wireless or not...
Care to explain why I'm hilariously wrong? As far as I can tell, no smartphone maker has perfected the camera under the display technology.Hilariously wrong

More interrupted unorganic totally irrational space? Uh ok
[doublepost=1526504878][/doublepost]
Gaining? Lol you’re not gaining anything. You’re losing the space to the notch. Screens have never ever meant to have odd shaped spacial interruptions like that. What if TVs came with notches? Macbook Pros? Movie theater screens?

As far as I know Apple has the only FaceID that most banks and merchants accept as being secure. You can unlock Android phones using theirs but can’t use it for logins for banks etc. There are probably financial institutions and companies that don’t accept Apple FaceID but everything I’ve read about Android based facial recognition is that it’s very easy to fool.
MUCH better waterproofing. If there was a forward movement, I might be more forgiving of not having a headphone jack. But as successive Android manufacturers prove, the iPhone hasn't gained anything over other handsets by removing the jack - it's simply lost the jack.
And in many (non-Apple) cases, has proven to be a cruel joke. The article says rain resistant, which does not necessarily mean equal to waterproof.
So, IP?4 or 5 at most.my bad, should have said water resistant
from their website, "Thanks to water resistance, your OnePlus 6 is well-equipped to survive a drop in the sink or a spilled glass of water. Just don’t take it for a swim."
That's what everyone said when Apple removed the RS-422/232 Serial ports in favor of "What's That?" USB Ports on the original iMac.I'm all for removing legacy ports, but a port that the vast majority of people use is not a legacy port.
The iPhone X debuted 2 months after the Android phone with the notch. You mean, like Apple? In this case Apple really wasn't the first company with a notch.
Apple may not have been leading in design post iPhone 6, but they have clearly taken the lead. Expected, but the fact all others are using a notch design is rather humorous. Still, nobody has caught up to Face ID tech as sophisticated as Apple’s.

You do realize Apple can get away with half the RAM because iOS is infinitely more optimized than Android? I don’t have a single issue with heavy multi-app usage on my iPad Pro 10.5 with a measly 4GB of RAM, which is a much more powerful device than any Android phone currently available. 3GB and 4GB is more than plenty for the iPhone X and X Plus phones coming.
So for 2 years, you had to deal with adaptors or finding a special printer for your iMac? Great. That's what everyone said when Apple removed the RS-422/232 Serial ports in favor of "What's That?" USB Ports on the original iMac.
Two years later, it was very difficult to find a printer or scanner with a "serial port".
That's nice for you, but how does not having the jack improve your experience? Many people prefer using wired headphones for their superior sound features at the high end, and for their independence from batteries. Having a phone jack still allows you to use bluetooth all you want. Removing the phone jack doesn't improve that situation. It does, however, extremely affect folks who prefer wired headphones - enough so that many people no longer buy iPhones. That's a decision Apple has made, and I hope that other high end phones don't follow suit. There is absolutely no good reason to do so from the customers' viewpoint.Haven't missed the headphone jack one bit since Apple sunset it.
Yeah, we know the date....should we be reinventing the wheel while we’re at it? It’s 2018! Chuck it in the trash!
Wireless is less reliable. Not better. Less reliable.
If you love wireless, fine. But why remove the jack??

Too lazy to look through 15 pages woth of posts, but they wanted to tradeoff that for more courage.Still one of the stupidest decisions Apple has made-along with getting rid of Magsafe.
For you, I guess. Nice job generalizing what you like to everyone. Sounds like Apple.Since using Bose Bluetooth Headphones - a once in many years investment - I came to the conclusion that a headphone jack really is obsolete.
Isn't that the general trend regarding the 3.5 mm jack on this forum? The standard defense: "I don't need or use wired headphones, I don't miss the jack - so it's archaic to include it as a feature, and if you miss it, you must also miss floppy disks and RS232 serial ports." No, we don't miss 30/40 year old technology, but we old fart wired headphone users miss using the iPhone with a technology which is decidedly still current, even though its roots go back many decades, and removing it had absolutely no affect on your bluetooth preferences. Yeah, let's say I don't care about classical music - so when recording companies remove all classical music from the offerings, it's just fine with me, and you must be stuck in the past with Beethoven, et al.For you, I guess. Nice job generalizing what you like to everyone. Sounds like Apple.
Agreed, for me it was with AirPods. Work great on my Apple products and my Android phone.
Forgive me Math Nazi"Less than 2 weeks away"
Re-calculate the maths, it's 18 days from now
So? How does that make the removal of the headphone jack any less stupid? That's the single thing I absolutely hate about my iPhone 7.
Has the delay issue been solved? I know on my BT 4.X headphones if I try to watch a video, the audio lags behind the image. Has this been fixed or is it still the case?
The advantage of a slower transition is that it's less of a PITA for the users who use said tech until the newer tech becomes the standard.
That said, I personally still miss the 3.5mm jack because for me it offers certain conveniences over my BT IEMs.
