finally at work where i can reply without exhausting tired too big fingers.

those are the ad's. thats correct.
i dont see why if it wasnt a new mac, they would put a blank imac beside the printer. its not like theres any difference in appearance in the current imac line (save for size, but the computer is obv not to scale next to the printer anyway)..

i might call in a bit and see what's up. then again, by that time, we might have news of some sort.

If the resale channels *really* were told their is new hardware versions coming, would't we have a lot more [specific] chatter by now? Does apple generally tell resellers this far in advance? Or are they just speculating like everyone else?

googleing for iMac photos, it came up the banner equal to the one showned a few replys back in the netherland apple store, but now in portuguese apple store.

Could they be testing something in the net? like lauching new ads? or testing links? maybe they just are testing us lolol

You call it Windoze...that's why I said it.

Sorry you have so many issues with it. Most of that isn't the OS's fault, it's the fault of the user.

Winbloze-windoze-wingoes,its as it is,yes,I do now and then use windows on a more stable-faster-cleaner machine and then there are a lot less issues.(Xp)
But,if I look at My sister's brandnew toshiba(c2duo) with Vista it just S***ks.
Slow to boot, slow in use and the like.
Partly, its not the systems fault as long as you are not on the internet and have no need of a virus scanner.
But,thats not the case, there's heaps of them so you need a virus scanner which makes your system so much slower.
And yes, thats Microsofts fault cause if they had a good system it would not need a resource hungry program like a virus scanner.
And,I used 7 as well, better but by no means close to SL as people have said it here on this page.
NTFS is not nearly as good as HFS +,Spinning of hard disks when its idle?????Don't know what the heck is going on.
Losing data!!!!,who wants that, yes it happens but I NEVER had it on My Mac.
Thousands of reasons why I will never go back to a PC,EVER.

Invitations

How many people really think we will see invitations today? Lets be realistic and not be biased.

I dont think we will see invitations :(

To me those or more like stereotypes than facts. My XP partition boots just as fast as OS X. Virus scanning software is only necessary if you are stupid about how you use the web, even then its free, and I hardly ever notice it slowing down my computer.

If OS X had the marketshare of windows, you can bet there'd be just as many viruses and we'd have to be running software as well. I mean OS X has been hacked pretty easily in the past and its not like snow leopard was a very polished release at all.

Vista was/is terrible. Windows 7 is better, but I still prefer OS X like everyone else here.

Carbon Computing Ad

Hi all,

Just thought I'd let you all know - I just spoke with a rep at the Carbon Cumputing outlet in Kitchener (Ontario, Canada) about the ads with the grey box and question mark on the previous page. His response was "We are anticipating new iMacs to be released in the near future, but until Apple announces anything we don't know much more than that"

While it doesn't really add anything to the discussion as far as timelines, I think we can pretty much rest assured that something is coming down the pipe.

I'm not trying to be rude. I'm just saying, even the cleaning lady at Best Buy notice the new Apple changes and releases. Inventory is low and newspaper are releasing hints.

Not taking it as rude at all - I agree with you - everyone and their dog that follows this sort of thing has heard the rumours. I was phoning there for another reason altogether and happened to be browsing the forum at the same time and saw the post about the ad.

Like I said in the post - doesn't provide us with any new answers and they're just going on speculation as well......

Cheers.

thanks for the confirmation, been kinda busy at work so i couldnt call.

here's to hoping!

trying to write/record music on my iphone is getting really frusterating.

I hope someone would at least release one spy photo of anything. That would brighten my weekend...:D

If there was a redesign I think we would have seen leaked images by now. There's always that off chance that they keep it a secret, but that doesn't seem to happen very much anymore.

I think we can assume that they have dealt with the inside leaking of information. I bet going forward that they have a tight grasp on things. Perphaps, a much more significant punishment.

Death for losing a prototype? too soon?

Either way, no I don't think so. I have yet to been surprised by an apple product since the release of the original iPhone.

No new updates this year. You will not see a thinner iMac this year. You will not see Ci7 iMacs, and you will not see LED screens, you will not see BluRay, you will see absolutely nothing.

Haven't you gotten a clue yet? All this hullabaloo about product shortages, which then suddenly resolve, then happen again - it's all part of the X-mas season inventory adjustments.

If there were to be new form factor re-designed iMacs, new mice, keyboards etc., you'd have an event. It's Friday October 16th - AND NO INVITATIONS.

Look, the Ci7 chips are not economical to put into an iMac, nor even technically plausible if you want a thinner enclosure. THERE ARE NO CHIPS TO BE PUT IN!! So you can't have an update.

At best you'll get a tiny refresh with speed bumps, but nothing else this year.

There are no plausible rumors - none. If a new iMac were to come out on Oct 20th, just a few days from now, you'd have photos - the product must get into stores. No way on earth is there zero confirmation or even slightly believable rumors with some proof. You are telling me in 4 days there are new iMacs? And still no invitations???

IT AIN'T HAPPENING!!!

Hmmmm interesting. Cant get onto the US store site now either. Main page for apple.com comes up but nothing happens when you click on the store. I was on there about 2 hours ago and it was working.

There has not been any announcement though. I can't see them updating the site before can you?

Wow you need to chill out. The month is not even over yet. No one knows that will or wont happen not even you so take your screaming somewhere else.

Maybe no event then, does look promising that the store is down.....fingers crossed!

I'm with you on the overhype of this "update." Especially with a lack of any good rumor in the past week or two. The only thing that still is interesting is the FCC fillings for a new keyboard and mouse that got pulled so quickly by Apple. Other than that, I have seen nothing that says redesign or updates.

They could plausibly send out invites by the end of this month I guess, but I'm not expecting anything.

Oh and the US STORE IS NOT DOWN.
