Ok, I really called this time. Didn't get much out of Jim, but he said the site may be down for maintainence, product changes or price changes. He did not have an ETA.

He quoted me the current (old??) price (1499 US) on the mid 24" iMac.

Wait, I just realized something... Wasn't the mid (2.93) iMac 24" $1799 before? He quoted me $1499. We were specifically talking about the Middle model (2.93) because I was shocked that he tried to talk me down to the lower 24" model when I told him I just did email and web.

Actually I think it's odd that they close down the apple store, why not just have a duplicate of the site running and doing the updating "behind the scenes".

Yes, I printed out the page a few days ago. 2.93 @ $1,799, 2.66 @ $1,499.

Then they wouldn´t create as much excitement as they do now, would they?

But as I asked before.... do all the Apple sites run off the same server i.e. all the international stores as well? Because if they don't, it's one hell of a big coincidence....

No clue there - good question though. just doesn't seem to feel right for there to be an update.

True, however, I would say that the majority of Apple users (or soon to be) don't care about the excitement. Joe, 40, or Alex, 15, just wanna buy their iMac or $30 headphones right now. It's obvious that Apple are losing sales when their online store is down, wouldn't you say?

from the canadian site...

20" starting at 1199.99
24" starting at 1499.99

store still down tho. thats just the info from the mac section of apple.com. (20" was 1399 and 24" was 1799)
