Yep, bought the 24" 2.93 iMac refurb just now.. If there is something updated next week then I'll get the new one and return this..If not, then I'll keep it. It'll be good enough to last a while anyway.
Really?!? I thought they were paid to be grumpy and unhelpful, and only those with no braincells got past the employment pre-testing stage.

Apple took one look and Windoze 7 and thew in the towel knowing they could never make such a "great" OS.
Only difference I noticed is that this morning the refurb store was over loaded with various machines, mini's, imacs, airs, basically refurbs from the entire range. Now there are none, zip, zilch, zero..

The UK refurb store is cleared around midnight every night and refreshed with the latest stock an hour or two later.

Some stores here already started putting up their Christmas stuff last week and Santa parades start soon! It's getting ridiculous how early they keep pushing it.

They just quoted me a 10% restocking fee if I return a refurb within the 14 day window of opportunity.

I have been a PC user for over 20 years and am considering moving to the MAC. Im tired of all the Windows BS and a big noisy tower that I have to blow dust out of regularly or the cpu overheats. The IMAC is the computer I want. I was ready to buy but after reading all these rumors of a possible hardware refresh and price drop, I am waiting to see if these rumors are true. Anyway, I was in the mall yesterday and went into the Apple store to ask some questions. I spoke to 2 sales people and neither would comment on the refresh rumors. They were just about nodding their heads saying yes but would not confirm vocally. So I will sit and wait like the rest of you.

FACT: The SKU for the Mac Mini has been discontinued.
FACT: Therefore all stores will soon run out of Mac Mini's (Low End)
FACT: The computers have new Mac SKU's.
FACT: Therefore Apple WILL update their product line
unless you believe apple will discontinue the Mac Mini, which I doubt.

I know what you mean. I saw Christmas decorations in Costco as early as September. I seem to remember a line in a Charlie Brown cartoon to the effect of "What Christmas already? I haven't even finished eating my Halloween candy yet!" Still, if Steve Jobs is playing Santa this year(for a nominal fee appropriate to Apple of course), I won't complain.

I'm almost positive that even when something is announced (probably November), it will NOT affect MBP. I put my money where my mouth is. And I desperately hope I'm right. I might cry as I read the specs on a new MBP.

Although I am fairly new to mac....this being the second I have owned I think that what ever happens .....well happens. It would make sense that Apple would release something to take the shine away from windoze 7....well because thats good business.......now whether that would be new Imacs,macs, minis or a price drop either one would be great.......especially with the holidays coming up soon. In general I have always looked at apple products as a bit pricey but since I have bought one I have never looked back. With that being said and with the state of the economy these days a price drop would only influence new buyers into the world of Apple. So whatever Steve Jobs and apple do.........Please for my sanity and well I am sure others on here give a solid hint so we all can stop checking this board 1 million times a day.......PLEASE

Yes I believe the same as you. I am placing my order for a 15" MBP on Monday. Just gonna check out the Apple store tomorrow on Matt or Glossy screen then get online.
Since no invitations yesterday I'd say nothing will happen next week, which pisses me off.
