Since no invitations yesterday I'd say nothing will happen next week, which pisses me off.
And as for you, OldCorpse, you were probably right and I admit being wrong. However, no one likes a smart-ass so cut the crap with the "Everyone should listen to me because I'm the best".
Fair enough, but c'mon, it's obvious I'm joking with the "I'm great" comments.
Look, to be serious for a moment. I ask you - objectively, and sincerely:
How is it not
TOTAL HYPE for Apple to have on their website
right now this kind of language:
Introducing the new iMac. Its the desktop that has everything. And now, theres even more.
How are you
"introducing" a computer product, that's already been hanging around for 7 months (since March of this year)???? How is this "the
new iMac"????
I'm sorry, but even in the car industry, where you introduce models only once a year, no car company is going to be advertising a 7 month old car as "introducing the new Toyota Camry/Honda Acura or whatever?
What's next? Maybe my local bakery should advertise: "Freshly baked bread!!" that's actually a six month old crusty dried up unidentified molding blob.
Look, this is the computer industry. Things that are 7 months old are not "new", and you don't "introduce" something that's at the end of it's lifecycle. These iMacs are supposed to be at the end of a cycle just about to be replaced. How on earth are they NEW, and how is it that you're just INTRODUCING them??? When new chips have been out for awhile, when your competitors have new technology in their computers for months now?
How long are you gonna stick with old, old, old tech - at least a couple of generations behind - and keep saying "introducing new iMacs"?
My point is that Apple are engaged in DISHONEST HYPE. There's sizzle, there's exaggeration, there's reasonable stretching of the truth. And then there is totally false reality distortion field. And if we, Apple fans, keep rewarding Apple with buying their products this late in the cycle, they will have no incentive ever to give us either value or keep up with technology evolution. We'll be doing them a disservice.
See, I'm also in the market for a desktop. I need to run FCP and LP, but I don't need the overpriced MP - that's too much for me at the moment, and I don't have the space in my office. I'd love to buy the iMac, but really how can I in good conscience buy such old technology? So, it looks like I'll be buying the mini - because even though it's still overpriced for what it is, at least enough for basic stuff, and it'll hold me over until Apple decides to do the minimum of what I need to buy an iMac:
1)Quad chips
2)LED screen
3)Matte option on the screen
4)SSD option
5)Re-design of the case so there's easy access at least to the hard drive
It would be also nice if it was height-adjustable, but I'll live.
If this came out this year, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. But the reality is that there will be no such NEW iMacs this year - which means sometime in November (maybe right after Thanksgiving), I'll buy the mini and wait until they give us REAL NEW iMacs sometime next year (with the specs I indicated). I don't believe it'll happen this year - at best, this year, they'll give us a tiny refresh with speed bumps... that to me is not NEW iMacs. Truly NEW iMacs would have the features I indicated - or forget my requirements, at least a real re-design... and I don't see any signs of them doing it this year.
Have I explained myself? Hopefully you don't think I'm a jerk anymore
Of course, I AM THE BEST!!!UNO!
