Dan Lyons (or Fake Steve) runs a blog ("The Secret Diary of Steve Jobs").

In the last entry, he wrote this:
20091019-ecs5eqxpgngywcea275cae3u3n.jpg

John Gruber (who runs another, much more famous and reliable blog called Daring Fireball, which predicted a lot of things in the past and always provides excellent analisys about Apple stuff) read that entry and thought "so you think I don't know? Wanna see what I don't know?? You asked for it, I'm gonna tell it all in my next blog entry so everybody tomorrow will know that I KNEW!". So in his last blog entry, Gruber wrote that strange long headline to show-off that HE KNOWS, so tomorrow he can rub it in the face of fake steve. If those things don't come true, he will loose his face.

I get it! So unless SJ changes his mind again, we are gonna see some new stuff tomorrow morning?!? I'm looking forward to the store being down!

Edit: Just printed my iMac shipping label to send off tomorrow!

let's all make predictions:

$499 Mac Mini
$849 MacBook White
$999 iMac 20"
$1299 24"

iCore 7, no blu ray

$499 Mac Mini
$799 Macbook
$999 iMac

No idea about processors.

EDIT: I still chuckle about this...Apple might be the only company in the world where people are actually happy when their store is down. With good reason.

Your manager is not looking forward to that....

Does your company install keyloggers and other tools to track employees' online habits? You should hope not.

nope, been here for over 5 years and I've done worse then go on macrumors!

BRING ON NEW HARDWARE!

I didn't think Steve was referring to the first quarter of 2010 - after all, you can introduce new products during any quarter, as long as it's 2010. So if it's calendar 2010, that qualifies. How do I know it is not the first quarter of 2010? Because that quarter is referred to by Steve as the holiday season (for which they already have a "very strong lineup") - then he makes a distinction with new product for 2010, subsequent to the holiday season. I AM THE GREATEST!!!

NO UPDATES!!!! this fiscal year!

You keep saying "for which they ALREADY have a very strong lineup". Your adding the word 'already'. The original quote was "We've got a very strong lineup for the holiday season...". This could mean what your saying or it could mean that with our updates "We've got a very strong lineup....". Depends on how you look at it. And no, your not the greatest...not until you decide to believe in Santa Steve and new toys for this year. :)

This pretty much clinches it.

Maybe Rotting Corpose should go back to rotting and stop telling us how we aren't getting anything for Xmas this year and how he is the greatest. The chance of Fake Steve and Gruber both being 100% wrong on this stuff seems extremely unlikely.

HA!

ur like a kid complaining no gifts for Xmas to its mama while finally having its papa's promise :D

well, i also agree with "HA!"

New...

Been diligently reading all 80+ pages of this thread since the very beginning. I was recently planning on buying a new iMac when I started hearing the rumors and have been glued to the computer screen and refresh button since then. I am registering now to say thanks to those who kept this process exciting and reducing the frustration i have felt waking up every morning to disappointment. I am pretty certain at this point there will be a release tomorrow based on Fake Steve's and Gruber's postings. I hope I am not let down because my excitement is through the roof righyt now. Lastly, OldCorpse I wish I didn't have to address you, but I loathe your pessimism. You take joy in destroying hope and happiness so that you can be the "best." I await the day when you have to log on to these forums and apologize for being so pompous these past few weeks. BTW This last part is partly tongue in cheek, but damn do you need to give it a rest sometimes. Here is hoping we will all be awaiting your apology post tomorrow.

After reading this thread, I'll wait until tomorrow and, then, finally decide when exactly will my new MBP come home. After a few years in exile as a Windows user, it's been really great to have a nice place to find the latest news on Apple from fans like you. Thank you, people!

You are being quite unfair. I am of great help and a very kind person. How?

Because I'm keeping everyone grounded. That way you don't fall for a lot of hype. Imagine that you expect a fantastic gift, and then you don't get it - you'd be devastated. If someone comes along, and tells you that actually that "gift" is a lot of hype, then you can keep your expectations in check, at least partly, so when you don't get the gift, you are not as devastated. AND IF I'M WRONG? If you get the gift after all, despite my warning that you won't? Well, you'll be twice as happy! You win either way - thanks to me! I'm making a sacrifice for your sake, for the sake of all Apple fans. I'm very, very kindly. Instead of thanking me, you say horrible things. Reconsider, and be a decent sort.

And as for any apology if I'm wrong? I tell you what - as I said repeatedly, I'm in the market for an iMac that has at least a minimum of some things (LED screen, Ci7 chips, removable HDD, SSD option). I never expected it this fiscal year 2009. BUT IF we get it tomorrow, heck, I'll be so happy, I'll be more than happy to come here and say "I was wrong". I mean, if you get a million bucks unexpectedly, would you mind admitting a mistake? No problem.

Sadly, and I do mean sadly, I do not expect it. Instead, I say:

NO UPDATES!!! this fiscal year.

some people see the glass half full...

others see the glass half empty....

and still others don't see the glass at all because they are blind....

it's all good.

Ah, the "pessimism is optimism" approach. :) I usually take this approach on certain areas of Apple rumors but not to the extent that you do.

Or based on objective:

If your objective is to fill the glass (ie pouring a drink) and you stop at the halfway point, it is half full because your goal is to fill it.

If your objective is to drink or empty the glass and you stop at the halfway point, then it is half empty because your objective is to empty the glass.

This is the realist approach., or I'm just insane and over analyzing it.:D

More evidence seems to say a lot of updates are coming tomorrow, but that would be very un-Apple like. I'm normally pretty confident about when and what apple is going to release, but I really have no clue this time around.
