Ah, the "pessimism is optimism" approach. :) I usually take this approach on certain areas of Apple rumors but not to the extent that you do.

And now that I see people say mean things, instead of thanking me for my kindness, I'm off to cry. People can be so mean. See you all tomorrow!

You are being quite unfair. I am of great help and a very kind person. How?

Because I'm keeping everyone grounded. That way you don't fall for a lot of hype. Imagine that you expect a fantastic gift, and then you don't get it - you'd be devastated. If someone comes along, and tells you that actually that "gift" is a lot of hype, then you can keep your expectations in check, at least partly, so when you don't get the gift, you are not as devastated. AND IF I'M WRONG? If you get the gift after all, despite my warning that you won't? Well, you'll be twice as happy! You win either way - thanks to me! I'm making a sacrifice for your sake, for the sake of all Apple fans. I'm very, very kindly. Instead of thanking me, you say horrible things. Reconsider, and be a decent sort.

And as for any apology if I'm wrong? I tell you what - as I said repeatedly, I'm in the market for an iMac that has at least a minimum of some things (LED screen, Ci7 chips, removable HDD, SSD option). I never expected it this fiscal year 2009. BUT IF we get it tomorrow, heck, I'll be so happy, I'll be more than happy to come here and say "I was wrong". I mean, if you get a million bucks unexpectedly, would you mind admitting a mistake? No problem.

Sadly, and I do mean sadly, I do not expect it. Instead, I say:

NO UPDATES!!! this fiscal year.

How silly of me! I don't know why I didn't understand that you were bringing everyone down just for our own good. Wow, I'm so stupid! I should of understood from the beginning, that as a grown man, I need someone to control my expectations so that I am or am not a certain degree of excited for a rumored apple product. Allow me this opportunity to apologize for my stupidity in not seeing your ultimate goal is simply to upset people so they can be happier down the road. I'm such a moron! You are the "BEST" OldCorpse. Thank you soo much. :sarcasm:

I have no problem with ya. It's a forum, I don't get all the hostility. Have a good night and here's to Clarksfield iMac's tomorrow, although I am not expecting it either;)

lol...this place will go ballistic if they keep the Core2Duos......

ha. if they do i'll be so pissed! i will NOT come here tomorrow if it's core 2..

ABout what time do you think Apple generally updates the stores? Like 8 ET? I'm wondering when I should be at my computer waiting :)

Check the store at 7/8 o'clock ET. If it is down, then something is coming. If it is up and running, nothing will come. Usually comes back online at around 9:00.

perfect. I wake up around 7ET for work, so I'll check then and before I leave :) Hopefully tomorrow is a good day!

I guess you'll find ot tomorrow....

nope, been here for over 5 years and I've done worse then go on macrumors!

BRING ON NEW HARDWARE!

...how much worse than admitting that you spend the time you should be reserving to your work assignments posting on MacRumors....
I am totally with you though....
I should be studying for a drug classes quiz and finishing up my Drug Information Assignment that is due tomorrow-but guess what I AM doing?!
Elisa

I've seen them update later than that.....certainly no later than 11am, though.

**********

I'm going to become poorer tomorrow, buying new toys like a new iMac, a Mac Mini, and a Nook...

In case you haven't gotten it already, OldCorpse is just trying to string people along. I guess it could be considered a form of entertainment (kind of like the "Balloon Boy"), but no one should be taking him completely seriously.

I have to teach about Latin American Power Bases during Colonialism tomorrow to 10th graders. Really should finish that lesson...:(....rather talk about the Clarksfield iMac that won't come tomorrow:D

You do understand the that "This Fiscal Year" for Apple ends Sept 27 2010, right? I think you want to say calendar year, yes??

No iMac updates tomorrow

Don't get too excited about tomorrow. I'd say that the "smart" money on any significant iMac updates is betting more toward the end of the month (Oct. 27 or maybe even Nov. 3). As I've noted before (among others), Dell and HP are quoting deliveries using the new quad-core i7 Mobile at the very end of the month or even into early November.

They can soft launch whenever they want. Several of those Dell and HP types have soft launched models with the mobile i7. It wouldn't be crazy to imagine a pre-order type deal. It also wouldn't be crazy to imagine Apple getting first crack at the chips, like they did for the MacPro's.

Been diligently reading all 80+ pages of this thread since the very beginning. I was recently planning on buying a new iMac when I started hearing the rumors and have been glued to the computer screen and refresh button since then. I am registering now to say thanks to those who kept this process exciting and reducing the frustration i have felt waking up every morning to disappointment. I am pretty certain at this point there will be a release tomorrow based on Fake Steve's and Gruber's postings. I hope I am not let down because my excitement is through the roof righyt now. Lastly, OldCorpse I wish I didn't have to address you, but I loathe your pessimism. You take joy in destroying hope and happiness so that you can be the "best." I await the day when you have to log on to these forums and apologize for being so pompous these past few weeks. BTW This last part is partly tongue in cheek, but damn do you need to give it a rest sometimes. Here is hoping we will all be awaiting your apology post tomorrow.

Actually you are giving oldcorpse exactly what he wants. he wants us to talk about him. It's all about him. from reading a lot of his posts it's always about him. LOL

Apple typically doesn't do "soft" launches. They really can't because they are competing directly with themselves and thus can't stall existing sales while waiting for new (pre-announced) products to arrive. It's different in the PC industry because if you don't announce as early as possible then your competitor may do a "soft launch" and steal your business.

Besides, I believe that Steve Jobs is on record as saying that Apple will never announce a product unless they have stock on hand to meet initial demand. Of course, they aren't perfect in that regard but I think it's still their desired practice.

In any case, even if this wasn't true or even if they got preferred delivery from Intel they wouldn't announce a completely redesigned iMac without doing a press event and any announcement for a press event would have to be done at least a few days in advance of the actual event.

Thus, Oct. 27 at the earliest (for a new iMac) or maybe not until the first week in November.

PLEASE, PLEASE RELEASE SOMETHING TOMORROW. We all need to get back to work. I'll be another MBP, Mac Pro, whatever. I just want it to be over, so I can get back to being productive, and teachers can get back to teaching, and students can get back to studying for drug class (not sure what that is, hopefully you're in pharmacy school... lol).

So, please, just announce whatever. I don't care if it's a re-release of last year's iMac, just do it.

do you think Apple can move an update just because rumors coming out? Maybe they had planned to launch today, but as rumors came out yesterday, they will take next tuesday.

Dnd talk about that it will not take Gruber seriously about this not anymore unless it proves correct.

Well the Apple store is still up and there doesn't appear to be anything new. Why can't they just release, so we can get back to work :apple:
