Thanks gods, after the previous rumor I thought I wasn't gonna be able to pick up a 128GB model. I was planning on getting the 5.5" anyway. WIN WIN!!!

Somebody here posts it in just about every thread that mentions a new Apple product. I suggest a time out for anyone who posts Safari is snappier and Shut up and take my money. And a longer time out if posting this image. And it doesn't count for me since I am just using it as an example.

The problem is Safari is snappier by a long shot in iOS beta and the WebKit nightlies that predict a much faster Safari on Mac OS. Running iOS beta on an iPad 3 and must say I'm impressed with the improvements. I'm not impressed with the bugs but this is a beta.

If iOS 8 delivers to the user world without the current beta bugs, I suspect people will be very very happy with iOS 8. In general it is a performance enhancement on old hardware like the iPad 3.

Sorry, I don't think so. MAYBE they make a 4.7 16GB at 199 but I think Apple knows how much hype is surrounding THIS phone. There is probably more hype than when the 4 was introduced.

Besides, everything else is going up in price.....why wouldn't a phone?

I think you're completely wrong. Starting price will remain the same at $199. There's way too much competition from Android to raise prices 50%, that would be suicide.

Specs regularly go up without the price following. Apple's default flash storage options are lagging behind the trend. You don't pay more for a faster A7 than an A6, so why pay more for a similar spec bump in storage. The prices of those components have continued to fall rapidly, with the same prices from Apple for years. It's past time for a same-cost storage bump.

If this is true, then I'm one of them. Having premium options is one thing, but basing those options on device size makes no sense.

Device size is an option in itself, so your statement is quite contradictory.

You people are missing part of the picture. For years Apple has had success with a 4" smartphone. It has created an industry of peripherals (docks, cases, sleeves, bumpers). In addition it is the ideal size for business use (basic email, calendar, texting and calling).

There is no reason AND there are no rumours that Apple will discontinue the 4" model. Apple could keep that at the same or even lower price point, with the 4.7" and 5.5" models at staggered higher price points.

There are no rumours that Apple will discontinue the production of the most successful smartphone on the planet (their 4" model...).

Oh please no. This is exactly what everyone was hoping wouldn't happen. Adding screen size options is great, but making the smaller model to be the inferior model is a load of crap.

The smaller model IS "inferior". It will have a smaller screen and a smaller battery. It might be "smaller" in other features as well, I don't think that Apple has some arbitrary boundary set here.

Case iPad doesn't really apply here, either, since neither of the pads are in any way cramped in internal size. Everything that Apple wants to fit in them will slip in rather nicely.

I can almost guarantee you that as soon as a 4.7" model and a 5.5" model comes out, people will forget all about the 4" screen. You and maybe 10 other people on here will desperately try to cling to the 4" for some odd reason, but the rest of the world will progress and enjoy the benefits of the larger screen and battery.

I'm going to break a lot of hearts here but i think the 100 dollars is going across the board.

4.7
299 32 GB
399 64 GB

5.5
399 32GB
499 64GB
599 128GB

Nah, they will be priced like this:

4.7 - 32 GB: 0 € + monthly
4.7 - 64 GB: 0 € + monthly
5.5 - 32 GB: 0 € + monthly
5.5 - 64 GB: 0 € + monthly
5.5 - 128 GB: 0 € + monthly

2)Sapphire glass only for 5.5"

This makes absolutely no sense, unless it is some sort of gimmicky super-thin coating thing that won't really make any difference what so ever.

Cmon people. Everyone here who are complaining about bigger iPhones, STOP IT!

You will be able to operate the 4.7" model with one hand quite easily. Buy it if you want small and compact phone.

If you want bigger phone get the 5.5".

And everyone who are claiming that 4" is great. Thats bs. Totally. Ever since I switched to 5" Android phone I completely feel like the 5" screen despite that larger form factor is MUCH more comfortable. Current 4" iPhones are way too small. They are actually super tiny.

Making larger iPhones is the right decision from Apple.

And to tell you something... the phones will look good. They won't look anything like the mockups you're seeing. Once they polish the design, use the final materials instead of that cheap plastic on mockups, the overall look will change drastically. Keep that in mind.

I'm just happy we're finally seeing an iPhone that is large enough to actually be used. I now realize how foolish I was thinking 4" is enough. That was the biggest bs ever I tried to convince myself with. 4" is not enough.

And before you start claiming that not everyone have big hands. Yes, I don't have big hands either. I have relatively small hands and I still find 5" form factor to be way more comfortable than 4".

Cheers.

Is it supposed to be an incentive for me to buy the 5.5 inch one? Apple try harder :D

4.7 inch is already too big for a phone.

Nah. 5.5" is maybe a tad on the small side, if we're being honest here. Lots of nice 6"+ phones out there already.

Realistically I feel like ~70-75% of people buy the 16gb/base model anyways, ~15-20% buy 32gb/299 ~5-10% buy the 64gb.

I think that you are waaaay overshooting the mark, especially on the 64 GB. 64 GB is likely at max 1 %, the 32 GB at around 10 % or so. Shouldn't be hard to interpolate the approximate numbers in excel since we have number of phones sold, a list of different models and ASP.

The 64 GB cost way over $1000 in basically all available markets, which is a rather stupendous amount of money to spend on a phone. I know I've never seen one out in the wild, so they surely aren't that common.

The same was said about the 30 pin connector. Where is it now, gone and replaced with the Lightning connector that is so much better than its predecessor.

For 10 years Apple had success with the 30 pin connector, now its just a distant memory.

Stop clinging to the past, learn to move forward.

I've used mine for business for the past 18 months or so, and I think that it is a piss-poor size for business use. Email and calendar is way easier and manageable on a bigger screen, and so is texting. Making calls is no different on either, so no points awarded for that.

If it would have a pen like the Galaxy Note, the bigger iPhone could even double as a makeshift notepad at meetings, being really small and unobtrusive towards clients.

I don't know what all the fuss is about and why people are complaining that Apple are making a bigger phone. People obviously want bigger phones, otherwise Apple wouldn't be making them. The 4.7" will be easily fit in one hand, and the 5.5" phone will be great for those that want the even phone. Personally i'm in favour of a 5.5" screen, by making both screen sizes i think Apple will take more customers away from Android and MS.

5C and 5S will remain available. No discontinuing or whatsoever.

For me when I think of a 5.5in iPhone the last thing I think about is the phone part, thats the last thing I use my iPhone for. But when i do use my phone for calls I generally use headphones (hate holding any phone up to my ear), my car has bluetooth for wireless driving and soon iOS 8 + Yosemite will let me answer my calls on my Mac (I do currently make FaceTime Audio calls from my MacBook Air).

Its called the iPhone and I enjoy immensely but calls are the last thing on my mind, iMessage, FaceTime Video and Audio are mostly how I communicate.

Everyone calm down I found the real iPhone 6:

these are baseless rumors. Do you see any features the iPad Mini did not receive that the iPad Air did?

Totally agree. The only difference between the iPad mini and iPad Air is the screen size and price. Everything else spec wise is identical. This will be the same with the new iPhones if indeed they are going to release 2 sizes.

If you can't decide just buy both lol :D:apple: I plan to buy both at launch if they are released together then make a decision after some hands on.

What is everyone going to do when neither of these 'iPhone 6's' come out?

Why are you far in denial?

I bet you're still denying the iPhone 5 will have a two tone back and be named the "iPhone 5"...

It really bothers you that the 15 inch macbook pro has more powerful options over the 13?

I need 128 GB on my phone. My 64 iGB now is packed to bursting.

What I need even more than that: a deep, soul-searching re-evaluation of what I REALLY need to have stored offline on my phone 24/7/365.

(Note to Apple--the final piece of this puzzle: let me delete an app and reinstall it without losing my app data. Prime example: games are huge files! And I hate to lose my progress. Let me store only my favorite few dozen games of the moment, yet let me re-install ANY of my zillion games at will and pick up right where I left off. It's not as though saved-game files will take up that much iCloud space. This would make both iCloud and local backups SO much more useful than the current all-or-nothing-or-weird-hack approach.)

If the developer would take their time and actually implement the proper iCloud and Game Center API's this wouldn't be a problem.

The problem is, very few does.. Apple is not the one to blame here. Lazy developers are.
