And to tell you something... the phones will look good. They won't look anything like the mockups you're seeing. Once they polish the design, use the final materials instead of that cheap plastic on mockups, the overall look will change drastically. Keep that in mind.

I hope you are right. I've been waiting for a big screen iPhone for some time but the mockups disappointed me, because of the huuuuuge bezels. The 5.5 iPhone mockup looks comically large even compared to a the Galaxy Notes. The design just doesn't seem particular elegant nor clever too me :(

What makes me 'afraid' is, that the mockups depict the real thing as in the last years the iPhone leaks have been pretty accurate.

iPhone 6 5.5" comparison

For me when I think of a 5.5in iPhone the last thing I think about is the phone part, thats the last thing I use my iPhone for. But when i do use my phone for calls I generally use headphones (hate holding any phone up to my ear), my car has bluetooth for wireless driving and soon iOS 8 + Yosemite will let me answer my calls on my Mac (I do currently make FaceTime Audio calls from my MacBook Air).

Its called the iPhone and I enjoy immensely but calls are the last thing on my mind, iMessage, FaceTime Video and Audio are mostly how I communicate.

I think that goes for most people to be honest, phones are no longer just used for calling or txting anymore. The iPhone is great at multiple things, its an iPod, email, we browsing and apps. I think with a bigger screen Apple will be doing what most people want. Giving people the choice is good. If rather have the choice between the 4.7" and the 5.5" iPhone than Apple just release the 4.7"

If this is true, then I'm one of them. Having premium options is one thing, but basing those options on device size makes no sense.

LOL, really? How about like EVERY other Apple product does it this way? The MacBook Air, MacBook, MacBook Pro, iPad and iMac. HOW exactly does this make no sense?

Bigger screens is the way to go. I looked at an old 4S yesterday.....that 3.5" screen really sucks!!

First of all I want to mention two things. I know this is just some piece of hardware and there are much more serious things to worry about in the world than this.
Second I know these are only rumours and nothing is real until released.

But: I can call myself an Apple fan. And I love using the products above Android or Windows and their hardware. (Although I like the new android pastel colours). That aside.

I really can't understand a few things of these rumours.

- where does this leave the iPhone 5(CS) users. I mean. I have seen the mockups. Those new things are huge!! And releasing only a huge new phone leaves these users far behind on tech.

- no new iPhone mini against the large phones like other companies do will be a huge mistake.

- I don't care the larger phones if there will be an equal smaller iPhone update.

- the design is ugly as (fill in a word of the ugliest thing you've seen). The bezels are way too big on the front. Making a smaller size screen phone bigger than the competition. And I can't say internal but external having a lot of unused space.

The rubber bands around the back is apparently something obligated to the antenna. But if you change the design. You can make this nice to look at. As a designer I had issues with the iPhone 5(s) back. But this is even uglier. Where did the sleek design go. The nice design of the iPad mini. Or the macs.

Again I still realise this is just a rumour and just a product.

I can understand leaving out some key features to sell more of your flagship phone. But why make that ugly 5.5 inch phone the flagship confuse me completely.

A last research I have read only 1/3 of the current iPhone users want a bigger iPhone.

I can still bring up the fact that the Samsung galaxy S2 is the same size of the iPhone 5 in height. But has a larger screen.

Please Apple consider this! That would make your customers want to purchase a new phone.

I'm on the sidelines with the non 'S' version releases, but the bigger screen itself isn't premium to me. 4.0" screen size works well.. I'd be okay with the 4.7 I suppose, the form factor size increase will be nominal.

Here's hoping Tim Cook doesn't go the douchebag route of limiting premium features to the larger screen.

Any rumors on the iPhone 6S ?

LOL, really? How about like EVERY other Apple product does it this way? The MacBook Air, MacBook, MacBook Pro, iPad and iMac. HOW exactly does this make no sense?

You can add the iPod, and the rest of the Macs to that as well. Although the iPods are "separate" products, "more screen" = "more features" applies there as well. And the Mac Mini and Trashcan Pro both have "artificial" limits to their configurations as well, e.g. you'll have to get the more powerful CPU in order to get some other totally unrelated feature, such as an SSD instead of an HDD.

The 4.7 and 5.5" phones are in two different classes of phone and phablet, there is no need to differentiate them and to do so would alienate those who want a phone that fits easily in the pocket...

iphone 6

when theirs no choice people moan , and when is they still moan , no pleasing some people , you always have that choice and theirs plenty on the market , Me personally i can't wait , i will trade in my iPhone 64gb 5s for the latest one , and will get the i watch at the same time . Happy Days, so stop moaning and enjoy what you have cause its better than the analogue phones of yesteryear ,

I too would be disappointed if they made all these features only for the 5.5" model, because even 4.7" already seem like too big for me. Even though I have large hands I prefer the feeling of a 4" phone in my hand as compared to the Galaxy S3 of my friend. Although I have to say that the larger screen may look pretty sweet I definitely won't grab a 5.5" one.

I'd get the difference more if they made a 4.7" model and a 4" iPhone mini model with less features (like the regular Samsung Galaxy S3, 4, 5 and S3/4/5 mini).

With the 'iPhone 6' bigger sized display rumours the name will be changed as well. As it is no longer a phone. I mean it's bigger than the first cellphone.

It is going to be the 'Apple communicator one'

I mean it's bigger than the first cellphone.

Umm... Yea.... No.

I can almost guarantee you that as soon as a 4.7" model and a 5.5" model comes out, people will forget all about the 4" screen. You and maybe 10 other people on here will desperately try to cling to the 4" for some odd reason, but the rest of the world will progress and enjoy the benefits of the larger screen and battery.

I'm not sure why there is a need for this aggravated response. I was just making a statement that there is not one piece of evidence that Apple will abandon the 4".

I'm going to break a lot of hearts here but i think the 100 dollars is going across the board.

4.7
299 32 GB
399 64 GB

5.5
399 32GB
499 64GB
599 128GB
Sometimes, people just forget about $199 tier. Apple dropped iPhone price to start at $199 for the sale to take off and to be competitive. Unless Phil Chiller smokes crack, he wouldn't want to raise $100 on new entry model. I would bet that they will keep the same starting price of $199. And Maybe, there's no 5.5" version at all.

The same was said about the 30 pin connector. Where is it now, gone and replaced with the Lightning connector that is so much better than its predecessor.

For 10 years Apple had success with the 30 pin connector, now its just a distant memory.

Stop clinging to the past, learn to move forward.

Sorry, but I'm not advocating anything here (I'm personally in the market for a 4.7"), but just making an observation. People seem to forget that the ABSCENCE of a rumour doesn't constitute evidence that something will not happen.

I've used mine for business for the past 18 months or so, and I think that it is a piss-poor size for business use. Email and calendar is way easier and manageable on a bigger screen, and so is texting. Making calls is no different on either, so no points awarded for that.

If it would have a pen like the Galaxy Note, the bigger iPhone could even double as a makeshift notepad at meetings, being really small and unobtrusive towards clients.

I agree, but most employers don't though. They mostly go for small screens to keep costs down. The 5C is quite a success in the many companies that I'm working as a consultant for.

5C and 5S will remain available. No discontinuing or whatsoever.

Exactly.

I see what you mean, yes. The 4S is the most popular "company phone" here in Finland, at least from the Apple lineup.

Great, in addition to OIS and sapphire crystal, yet another possible differentiating factor between the 5.5 and 4.7". WTF Apple???

i know it's gonna piss people off but it kinda makes sense why apple could want the extra $100 bucks?
