Also, I would like to totally geek out for a moment, and just scream my excitement of a story I submitted getting posted, with my username below it.

like I said when this whole thing started: there are already alternative browsers in the app store (like perfectbrowser)... So there is no reason to reject Opera Mini.

Glad to see it made it through. I'll probably pick it up for my iPhone 3G since I live in an area where only Edge is available. I hope they come out with a version for iPad as well...

Hellishly fast!

Unfortunately it's got a few things to sort out before I'll be happy with it, on the iPhone at least:

* The default zoom/resolution on an iPhone is too large, so you can't read the text
* It seems to switch randomly between defaulting to 1:1 style zoom level and the entire page
* There's no proper zooming, just a gesture to switch between 1:1 and full
* Auto-correct doesn't work (it's surprising how much I used it)

I've always quite liked the Opera browser on the desktop and I think it shows a lot of promise but it's got some fixing to be done before I'll be using the iPhone version long term. It'll be interesting to see people's findings on the iPad one.

Edit: No flash. Stop dreaming :)

Errrr, am I the only one wondering why this is posted in the iPad section? Isn't there an iPhone and an app store section for this??

Well another partial victory for the nuts at opera. They can wait finding real jobs for another week or two.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_1_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/528.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile/7E18 Safari/528.16)

This is bound to be bad dosent any 3rd party browser require the use of safari engine on the iPhone it seems that way on all other 3rd party browsers still I will give it shot.

All the other browsers are just different SKINS pretty much. It's the same engine though.
